I'm canadian as well, I would like to know if you have hope for where our country is going and if you do why?
Like I find there is no real faith in the country it is really hard to find churches as an example. And people actually fighting for Godly values.

No I don't, I see the erosion of morals and values in our country as a sign that more and more people are falling away from Christ and walking after their own lusts, I think Canada is falling more and more like America into a damnable reproach with ungodly leadership and corruption and following after lust and greed. Only Jesus can save us, but he doesn't interfear with free will and it seems people want everything but Him. It's like Sheffy said in the movie "and many years from now when prayer is no longer in our schools and we can only pray where were are allowed to pray, we can look back and say our religion wasn't taken from us, we gave it up bit, by bit."

I remember that specific line though about giving up bit by bit. I am sorry to hear that though, I was kind of hoping to be proven wrong. Especially since finding this Chat.

I remember my favorite principal (it was a public school) he had made sure that we pray the Lord prayers every morning with the anthem and I loved it so much (i was in middle school) But the year before I graduated (grade 8) the parents said somethign and he was not allowed to pray anymore.

I could feel the school lose something after that. It was the same in high school too, we did not pray, but talking about God and things like that was very frowned upon, and mocked and I never understood why.

It is definitely somethign worth thinking about. Sometimes I hear people my age talk abotu the fatigue of corruption and evil, but they dont' get the whole picture (most of them) and just fold to conservativism, nto Jesus, BUT some of them do see the evil for what it is and i like that, it makes me so excited, but it is very far and few in between for those moments :/

I love my church but there are only a handful of members maybe like 15 and three of us are young. The rest are all retired and have been there for decades. Nothing wrong with that of course, I love them and their guidance and support it is amazing. But I am praying the church grows soon and more people come to Christ, but I continue to lose hope for Canada as well, idk where to go at this point.

I read a book about a young kiwi guy, he was suffering from ADHD, and he decided to walk the coastline of New Zealand by himself (all 8,000 km) but no movie been made of it yet. In the end the book was raising awareness of mental health.

It was called Wildboy, to the edge and back, by Brando Yelavich

The most famous walk was one led by Dame Whina Cooper in the 1970s. The Maori people had a hikoi -translation 'walk' or 'land march' to protest against landgrabs -- and was made into a movie called Whina. Rita Owen the actress played Whina. It was from the top of the North Island down to the parliament in Wellington the capital at the bottom.

One guy rode from England to New Zealand on a bicycle by himself...he was raising money/awareness for the Heart Foundation as he had a heart condition. He had a book made about his journey with photographs. I interviewed him on radio. Man he had some hair raising tales!

It's called The long road from a Broken Heart by Jeremy Scott.


Sorry I shouldn't be going on about my country in a thread about Canada. But yea we have some adventurous/brave national heroes and heroines too.

Too many people die of cancer here, the fundraiser for that is Daffodil Day. But really, no amount of money can really relieve the suffering. Given all that we know, we can do all the right things, have all the amputations, radiation and chemo and yet still the cancer can strike at any time.

You just need to live the life you are given the best you can.

with all do respect, the indigenous have been given license to hunt anything whenever they want and they are not charged any taxes in canada and given government fees .... like a lot!

So no. Tthere is nothing but apology and multiple celebrations for indgenous people in Canada. But the sistuation is the same as the BLM movement where there is a demand for more and more apology and a victim mindset.

And there is a lot of abuse and neglect happening in reserve where the government has no power it is just indigenous people in charge.

This issue is that canada is a very liberal country that's why canadians are homeless. for example last year they were hunting for hidden graveyards of indigenous children from school reservations of the past and when they did not find any missing and dead chidlren they chief was disappointed. so ... yeah.

there is still a lot that needs to be fixed with reservations but it is not out of government neglect.

I thought the reserves were the indigenous were FORCED to go, could be wrong though. The Canadian white settlers took all the good land, i.e the fertile, arable land. That would have had massive ramifications for them since they could be forced off the land if it was now 'private property' and no longer open to them, a source of food and sustenance they'd been used to for centuries.

How could you not feel like you a victim when you have land you are used to living off now polluted and destroyed and changed beyond recognition, and your people now in poverty and unable to have access. Its just the Inuits though I don't know about the other tribes. You stuck in a 'reserve' like an endangered species. The govt 'relocated' you and you don't even have any say where to go. Then they don't want anything to do with you, out of sight, out of mind.

I worked in a school that had a bilingual unit for Maori children, they had Maori teachers, they were a little set apart from the rest of the school, some were full maori but a lot had intermarried with pakeha (white) so it was a kind of uneasy marriage of two cultures. In the past Maori people told their children NOT to speak Maori because they thought they had to get ahead and better themselves and the only way to do that was to become like the pakeha (or back then, the Brits) but...it didn't really work. They lost a lot of culture and a language that was an important part of their identity. There is a lot that each culture can learn from each other. I understand why there's this separation, but when two cultures collide and want to get along together there is going to be some crossover. It's inevitable.

I think the grievances thing takes a long time and tribunals are set up to deal with it since the fight isn't over money its over land and resources. Also when you have two completely different languages, and one doesn't make any effort to learn the other's language there are bound to be misunderstandings.

Back in the day it was like this in the UK (that a mixed race neighbour told me) if you're white you're alright, if your brown stick around, but if you're black get back.
She still harbours huge resentment at being treated like a nothing and shut out of whatever (jobs, housing, social things) from childhood. She got on with it but stuff still makes her angry and not even her fault she couldn't help her parents being 'black' and 'white.' She come to New Zealand as we have a bit better race relations but its still pretty sad what anyone not exclusively white anglo/saxon had to put up with. Just that sort of attitude many people actually will give up and take the welfare go on the dole because the jobs just aren't there and bosses still treat you like trash if you try anyway. Or maybe gambling or selling drugs is easier?

If you do get the job it just takes one person to make you feel like the token DEI hire. So yea..issues. Liberalism isn't all its cracked up to be. Selling out or selling your soul is what people would prefer if you want to be a success in this fallen world. Prosperity gospel can be very popular amongst these kinds of folk.

It takes a long time to get back on your feet after being nearly wiped out by another race that appeared to be friendly but really just wanted to take over your land and enslave you, and your culture dismissed as invalid and unimportant.

She was taken to the UK when she was 3, grew up in UK (her father, guyanese, her mother, anglo) and then before she went to NZ to look after her daughter (who left UK for a new life) she said she lived for a time in Canada, particularly Toronto.

She said it was freezing, she hated snow, her body was not used to it, so she high tailed out of there pretty quick. lol

I've only ever been in July/August. One time my mum wanted to go in February, for her Uncles birthday...asked me and I said in the cold? no thanks... but props to her the winter weather did not put her off from visiting.

Stand what you're saying. It's really hard to see all of the Grievances that have happened. But the point is that they are not happening anymore. And also these were consensual treaties that were made no one was forced on to reserve that was a request by them so that they could still keep their lands and they can come and go as they please. And as for like polluted areas and things like that it is unfortunate but a lot of those issues have to do with what they choose to do with the government funds that they've been given because it is like in the Millions actually it might be closer to the billions now as like annual kind of reimbursements. Yeah like no one was forced to stay on the reserves or anything like that it is a very different today than it was in the past. And I totally understand what you're saying like seeing the worst in people. But seeing the worst and assuming the worst is exactly why there is such a misunderstanding around so much history that is terrible but has a completely different narrative than what is actually happening and kind of blinds us to see what's happening in the present as well. Like one thing that really Disturbed me when I was studying indigenous schools today is that the school's actually work really hard to protect the children because oftentimes on paydays like the monthly pay days to indigenous families on Reserves what ends up happening is a lot of that money is used on drugs and alcohol to the point that it is a standard practice that on those paydays the schools have a scheduled overnight slumber party stay for all of the children because there is such a rise in child abuse child sexual assault and more because they have bought so much alcohol and so many other things that it's become a problem. But in Canada because indigenous people are only allowed to be the victim we are not allowed to talk about that. Trust me there is no like racism in Canada unless you're white pretty much which is still racism and really bad.

Well if you read the bible and what it says about end times, you will see that the end times prophecies are being fulfilled, espcially about everyone doing whats right in their own eyes, having a form of Godliness but denying the power there of, and espcially the falling away of believers and people rejecting God being given over to reprobate minds.

That is why I went to the Christian Heritage Party of Canada, a Christian based and founded political party that defends the faith our nation was founded on. You will not get Godliness from a secular political party.

I see, yeah a lot of older people still go to church but the younger generations are falling away.

huh we talk about whats happening it all the time...yes people are victims because alcohol and things like guns were brought because of the white man anyway. Before they came, there were no alcohol and no guns. The Maori fought each other, yes, but with spears and clubs.

Alcohol is still a problem everywhere it knows no race! We definitely talk about that. And we have an entire Ministry dedicated to housing and child welfare. i.e Kainga Ora, Oranga Tamariki. It's the basic necessities.

The grievances are being resolved, but it takes time, even decades to put right...people are patient, they aren't even asking for that much, what they want is original precious lands back or at least restored, it's not about the money. Money really is just a pay off, or hush money to forget it ever happened.

well you can't forget a thing like that - that's affecting generations of families.

So yea, I think it should be talked about and not glossed over.

Yeah that is what is happening my own life right now actually, out of nowhere too so I get it.
