I have read most of all comments on the main topic. I think this is what it is all about. This is why we need
to know the Word of God. We need the Holy Spirit to help us to understand what we read. However, we also
need Godly mature men of God who know & have studied to show themselves approved, to teach us. Each time
we read a scripture, we can learn something new from it. Word for word. Also, remember to read the scripture
above it..what is the theme of it. God is saying something to us.
As for the scripture I posted, I did it because I have learned the hard way, false prophets abound.

Yes, that is often the claim regarding many default doctrinal positions. It's so prevalent, I gotta wonder how conscious it is at some point.
The overarching irony of this actual thread topic is insisting one be taught by the Spirit and the Word while not taking heed to any of man's words... all without referring to scripture and utilizing their own words.
It's an aloof and elite sense of egocentric superiority, condescending to all others for any level of stewardship in biblical languages for lexical accuracy of the text, etc.
Then the assertion of necessarily being a child; though we're admonished to grow to maturity and completeness.

I am confused. So some people are saying the gift of TEACHING has died away? That no one needs be taught, because we have the Holy Spirit and the Word of God and we need nothing else???

So my thought is that God gave teachers to educated, inform and help people know more about the Bible and about God. About how to follow Christ. As for the false teachers, well, there are those, for sure, especially the cults, and that is that pale imitation that deludes people about the truth.
I was just talking to my Hebrew prof about this yesterday, and he concluded it is the height of arrogance to say that we do not need teachers, theologians and scholars. And yes, there may be disagreements on issues, but based on a thorough understanding of the Bible. We cannot begin to claim all knowledge of the Bible without a knowledge of what has gone on before. That includes writings from the earliest centuries and the patriarchs through to the present.
We must balance and weigh all sides of the theological discussions, but that cannot be done without knowing what has already been proposed. And then we can use our own discernment and study the Bible to see the wisdom of teachers from the past, who are sometimes right and sometimes wrong. One can only think of the Protestant Reformation, and those godly men who "studied to show themselves approved." Then you can move through the centuries to the present, to find all kinds of strange doctrines and ideas, such as the Shakers, and handling snakes, through the Prosperity Gospel in our century, which are patiently false.
But that does not mean we cannot learn from teachers, that God does not use teachers and preachers, and the a good consensus of sound doctrine cannot be achieved.
Anyone claiming to know everything there is to know from the Holy Spirit illuminating the Scriptures, obviously forgot to read that God did appoint people to teach!! It is self contradictory to claim to know the Bible by studying alone, without recognizing that God appointed teachers to learn to study and then to impart truths to us.
I fear for those who have gone out on their own, and unraveled all the mysteries of the Bible. For one thing, the mysteries were never all meant to be unveiled, and for another, God has called us to a community of believers. The solitary believer is NOT the Biblical form of God's plan for the church. God wants us to work together to learn and become mature, and for each disciple to become a discipler of others. Therefore, there will be teachers, and the best way to start, is to read theology, and then draw some conclusions based on extensive study of the Bible, in the context of history - from Genesis to the present.
God will not leave his people ignorant or unwise. But a single individual claiming to be the sole recipient of a truth which no one else has discovered - well, that is not good doctrine, but merely someone obsessed with their own self importance.
