I am recovering from a collapse of mental health. Epic disaster that left my old life uninhabitable. I have been in treatment for 3 years and Have found stability again. Now in Brantford, ON, and looking to put things back on track. Must admit I am very depressed and feeling disconnected. I have no friends here. I have one friend in Barrie, ON, and she is doing everything she can to support me but I fear it isn't enough. I am in a temporary housing situation and live with restrictions. Must find new housing for October. Any support would be great.
Well, welcome aboard. I joined a 30day hospital recovery program and they discovered I also suffered from major depressive disorder. I was kept in the 30 day hospital program 61 days and was released to another 60 day residential program. They most likely saved my life.

I am also the OP that started CRA on the miscellaneous forum in late march. Feel free to drop by and share. I made a point to remain multiple diagnosis friendly. So feel at home. Sorry you'll have to supply your own coffee and donuts. But here's one on me. :coffee::cool: welcome again. :):D:LOL::ROFL::love:(y)

Good morning, brother Trevor!

Here are some verses on prayer for us:

James
5:16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Matthew
7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

God bless you,

Good morning Trevor. It's 1am and can't sleep, so I thought I would just stop in and say "God bless you" and "Jesus loves you very much."

Hello, brother Trevor! No worries about taking some time to reply. Sometimes the internet goes out and I miss a couple days myself. Isn't it nice that talking to God is not like that? He is the friend that sticketh closer than a brother....

Proverbs 18:24 A man [that hath] friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend [that] sticketh closer than a brother.

You have shown yourself to be a good friend to me Trevor. Our friendship is only possible because of how the Lord brought us together. He loves us so much...

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Jesus said that. He is The Great and Mighty Creator of the universe. He is our friend and He loves us. Our future looks mighty bright indeed!

It is so good hearing from you. Keep praying for me. I will keep praying for you.

God bless you Trevor,

I am struggling brother, and hearing from you gets me out of bed. I saw a friend for a visit this weekend and went to church on Sunday. Those are big things in my life. I am in a very deep depression. I have come so far from being a homeless addict. I was very mentally ill. I gave up mania and psychosis for stable depression. Although I don't live symptomatic anymore I also lost motivation and drive. I had to walk away completely from my old life. Both the good and the bad things. Now a big void exists where I am having a hard time filling it. I know God has a plan and healing from the old life I lived takes time I just feel so disappointing to God. Prayer helps. Thank you for your encouragement.

I want to hold your hand, brother. We are going to pray our way through this. I am going to pray for you now. You pray also.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I was just reading the thread on understanding salvation, and I am still wondering why after the many sinners prayers and water baptisms I have been through I have never been compelled to speak in tongues. I fear I am not truly saved sometimes. :(

Not all Christians speak in tongues 1 Corinth 12: v 7-14 NIV>

7) Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. (8) To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, (9) to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, (10) to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. (11) All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. (12) Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. (13) For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (14) Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

Paul knew what he was talking about.

1 Corinthians
15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith [is] vain; ye are yet in your sins.
15:18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, [and] become the firstfruits of them that slept.
15:21 For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.
15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

This is good news, brother Trevor. Praise the Lord!

The most important manifestation of the Holy Spirit is love>

1 Corinthians 13 New International Version (NIV)

13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Does the love of funny cat video count, because I just watched a compilation on you tube and am feeling a whole lot better. I hope I am not the only one who does that. When I move out of this group home into my own place I am getting a kitten named "sparkles" in honour of my cat "glitter" who died a little while ago.

It is Satan who causes us to question our Salvation. We shall overcome him through the Blood of Jesus that He shed on the Cross for us...

Revelation
12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Due to the lack of an amen button, I use the green check mark.

I have always struggled with the debate between works and faith, but in my heart I believe the cross did it all. It is my understanding that Jesus made it clear through the example of Dismas, that you are save when you put your faith in Christ Jesus. His death on the cross was the perfect sacrifice for all, and doubting in that act of saving grace is, to me, the greater sin. Correct me if I am wrong.

Luke
10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
10:22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and [he] to whom the Son will reveal [him].
10:23 And he turned him unto [his] disciples, and said privately, Blessed [are] the eyes which see the things that ye see:
10:24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen [them]; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard [them].
