I am a Republican though. If you want to play that game, I would flag the typical Democratic Party view of power as State-Worship. But then again, I would also flag many of my fellow Republicans with the same status.

My, my, it's tough being a curmudgeon.

The Episcopal Church is apostate and doesn't teach the Gospel.

What's the brand of Christianity you follow? Because we know that's gotta be the correct one, since you seem to know it all and believe yourself to be all wise. (Humility apparently being not so trendy these days)

His statement could have been said by an Atheist. It is a value judgment, and while pride could have something to do with it, the possibility of someone outside the faith making a similar claim (notice he didn't add any extra qualifications) renders this accusation to be weak.

Made weaker yet by your apparent dismissiveness of every conservative point of view.

At least you're intelligent enough not to generalize an entire group of people.

I don't care about the brand near as much as I do care about a church preaching the Gospel. The Episcopal Church does not preach the Gospel. There are churches that I don't care for at a personal level, and those I don't care for at a theological level. Yet, so long as they preach the Gospel I will embrace them as brothers.

Spoken like a true Father-GOP-Holy Spirit "Christian"

Registered independent, not a member of any party. The GOP didn't die on a Cross to provide an atoning sacrifice as Christ did for his people.

The Republican Party has plenty of it's own problems. Start a thread asking why people don't like the Republican Party, and I'll give you my personal list of reasons I don't like it. I've got quite a few significant ones. My chief concern is the Gospel though.

This man is speaking foolishness.

Aren't we supposed to pressure our government to support social programs to help the sick and poor, even at the cost to ourselves? Or did we forget that when we all decided to blindly replace Jesus with the Republican Party in the Trinity?
Have you ever read the bible?

Another point worth to consider in that Muslims are exempt along with few others from Obama-Care. I heard about this 6 months ago.
Senate Bill, H.R. 3590, pages 273-274
There are several reasons why an individual could claim exemption, being a member of a religion that does not believe in insurance is one of them. Islam is one of those religions. Muslims believe that health insurance is “haraam”, or forbidden; because they liken the ambiguity and probability of insurance to gambling. This belief excludes them from any of the requirements, mandates, or penalties set forth in the bill. Other excluded groups include Amish, American Indians, and Christian Scientists.

It looks like American Christians may have found themselves a loophole. :D

Back to the points made in the video. I don't have a problem with a nation providing healthcare to its citizens and see that as a good thing if it's done right. That is not happening with Obamacare which really is a Supreme Court hamstrung Orwellian attempt at nationalization that is going to quickly double in cost in a nation that is surging toward economic collapse.

The writing is already on the wall. The government is going to dump the fiscal responsibility directly on the heads of the poor when the money runs out. I've seen it before in counties that had indigent medical programs and hit hard economic times. The programs get stripped of benefits. Dental gets reduced to the point where only teeth extraction is covered and no vision. Next the fiscal cost gets dumped on the poor. How is a partially crippled person that doesn't qualify for disability and makes less than $5k a year, despite their college degree, and is unemployable because of their condition in this economic environment going to pay a $3250 per year deductible and 40% of all expenses ROFL!

Same thing happened in Greece. This thing is going down. There's no money to support it and the national fiscal crisis is only rapidly increasing. They'll keep the program, of course, but will be stripped to the point of uselessness and the good counties that had good plans for poor people won't anymore because they are no longer allowed to under Obamacare if their state is participating in it.

What a mess and it's going to get worse. Enjoy the few years remaining. If you have non-chronic medical procedures you need done, get them done in the first years before it gets stripped out and the cost put back on you who can't pay for it.

The support for government programs is based upon image. People want to look good to present themselves as compassionate toward the poor for supporting government programs.

Lets look at that. There is a poll where its shown conservatives give 30% more to charity than liberals do. Liberals support government charities because they want others, to be forced to, to be charitable. Its not their dime. Its the vilified rich guy who pays.

That is an error. Poor people pay a lot of taxes too, even liberal ones. No government program is free.

Supporting government programs is so people can say they care. Funny how those programs costs jobs and raises prices...for poor people. How compassionate is that?

Someone has pushed the wrong button of my good brother SonInMe!! hehe And once fallen has also made a good point. The enemy as we all see has looked to both divide the government among themselves, and we the people with thinking we should become little gods.

We know what james 4:4 says Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend to the world makes himself an enemy towards God. The government wishes to invite the people to the party of confusion, both are confused! Meanwhile if the pressures of life had not been made hard enough for us to bear with the government lack of serving we the people, the enemy is also attacking God fearing believers and looking to change there way of thinking into becomeing there own god.( Gen 3:5)

The great falling away is happening right beneath our own noses, both from the government we elected to protect us,and from those who peddle god's Word for there own profit!( 2 cor 2:17) A deadly combination! The enemy attacks both physcial and spiritual, he always has done this, and he always will do this. If he can keep up our anger both towards the government and to oneanother, the end result will be as it was before! Killing each other in both word and deed, a battle going on in heavenly places, leads to what? ( gen 6:13!!)

Then Governments cry out as do the people, how could this ever have have happened?? Is the end nearer to us now then we first believed?( rom 13:11) Sure does have the appearance doesn't it? It is not government that was formed first in the first place, but rather the people by God himself, to help each other,to look out for each other, and to set a good example for those who would lead us, to DO!! the same!

Many of you have as usual made some very good points!! And if we are willing to ourselves come together as one nation, and one mind in becoming doers of the Word and not hearers only( james 1:22) then and only then can we give the devil what he so deserves!!The left foot of fellowship from among God's own people!

But this has to start somewhere brothers and sisters!!It has to start with us today, each one of us,to examine our own lives( 2 cor 13:5) and encourage others to do the very same. It will never start with government it starts with those God formed himself to run it! US!! THROUGH BOTH his KNOWLEDGE AND his WISDOM!! Proverbs 8!! God Bless each of you through the Love of Jesus and by his Great and Mighty name!

Actually, yes, I have, probably more times than you have, as it is my major and almost all of my classes require it.

I'm guessing you're the kind of person who will sit there and yell about abortion and gay marriage being kept illegal forever... But when the issue is social welfare and helping the sick, you're oddly silent and even against it... Hmm...

Actually I was asking a sincere question. It is even more disappointing that you read the bible often yet seem to be unable to comprehend scripture.
I went to a Christian University, and had my share of bible classes, but my reading and UNDERSTANDING didn't stop there. Also, never have I ever made such an elementary statement of "I have probably read the bible more than you have." What is that? Looks to me you are here to argue the worldly side over the Godly. That's your choice I guess

As far as homosexuality and abortion I do not believe that is what this thread is about. If you are here to argue just for the sake of arguing then you can make all the abortion and gay threads you want. I sure there are many here that would love to debate those issues with you even if I don't attend that thread.

You are also assuming my views without even knowing at all what I do believe. It has never been the governments responsibility to steal from hard working people and give to those who are lazy. Needy is one thing, lazy is another. I know what you are apparently a college student, and I remember 10+ years back where...like you I knew all the worlds answers and I was far smarter than anyone in the planet, but as I got older I had hardships, and did a little humbling and suffering myself I saw how the world really is. I saw that handouts aren't a decent way of living. Personal responsibility is the best way to make an honest living. Working multiple jobs to feed your child is better than sitting on the couch texting from my obama phone to see if my food stamps came in.
The bible mentions many times that we are to care for others. We are to help the NEEDY. Not the lazy. It also never mentions that is it up to the governments to provide for others to the point they are totally dependent. As Christians we are to do it because it is our nature. Not because the government mandates it.

2 Thess 3:6-12
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. ..

Clothing the poor does not mean paying taxes. Feeding the hungry does not mean getting a food stamp card.

Jesus even tells tax collectors to be content with their wages, and not collect more than they should.

Also, if you don't work you don't eat.
When you give out handouts you weaken the people. They learn to not be satisfied, and in turn want more. There is a saying the the Liberal world have obviously never heard... "instead of giving them a fish, give them a fishing pole."

There is absolutely nothing wrong with welfare to help someone get on their feet, but never was it to be a way of life. You paying taxes and that little percentage out of a paycheck for welfare benefits will not give you a free ticket to Heaven. The government doesn't determine ones righteousness so stop pretending it does.

I wish I had the name of the woman who is leaking all info about the Fed and some other areas. She actually was a lawyer for the world bankers, and she has done an interview which I have heard. She walked in these circles she is now considered a whistle blower. I will try hard to get her web site. She says Greece was the beginning. This thing is going down. They will do to America exactly like Greece. Greece was the fore runner to how they will do this economic crash.

Interesting thread!

I have free Canadian health care, and contrary to what your propaganda machines may have told you, it was started by a Baptist minister, Tommy Douglas who watched his father die of something curable because he didn't have any money to pay a doctor. Tommy Douglas comes in as FIRST among all Canadians in major surveys, because we value our universal health care that much. And Muslims have it too!

And it is GOOD health care - cradle to grave and any specialist or doctor you want. In any province! My sister had some kind of test for MS in BC and she lives in Ontario. It was paid for by her provincial plan, because all the provinces have to cover all Canadians.

But I didn't mean to talk about how my socialist state is better than your privatized state!

My DIL is American and has had no health care insurance unless my son was playing hockey and she was covered under his policy or in England, where they not only gave her free care, they delivered her baby and offered 6 weeks of a nurse coming to her home to help her adjust to a newborn.

She has applied for landed immigrant status in Canada, but our immigration department has been on strike for months and months and she has to wait for a year minimum, in the event the strike is settled because of the backlog. See, you Americans aren't the only ones held hostage to a strike.

My point is that she is going on Obamacare the minute it comes out in Jan. She is very excited to have health care coverage for the first time on her own. I know many Americans who are not covered. I also know the program has some real issues, with coverage and cost. So I am not blind and saying this is an ideal situation.

Just be aware there are people who are not covered, that are now covered. At least until she can become a landed immigrant. By the way, she does not have to ever become a Canadian to stay on Canadian health care the rest of her life. She is a proud American, and I doubt she will ever give up her citizenship. But she will have coverage when Obamacare comes into effect, or if our immigration department ever stops playing games with people.

If the government really wanted to help with health, they would deregulate the medical industry, so it was easier for churches and other charitable groups to provide health care and train health care workers. As you rightly point out, this is just a divide and conquer strategy, using "health care" as the bait.

In the end, with socialised healthcare, everyone is poorer, the health system doesn't actually have to be very successful at all, and the government has more power. While everyone is arguing about whether people should be forced to pay for health care they may not want or need, no one is asking why the government is regulating the health system in the first place.

Surely an unregulated health system that people can afford, is better than a regulated one that no one can afford?
