or we can just take Paul at his word as to why it was really given.
Most of the things of Israel were symbolic in nature, explaining spiritual truths.
And as already proven, (and seen by Israels continued failed attempts to follow it) It does not show us how to be moral people. As paul said, it was not given for that purpose

I think you need to study more.
God showed his great mercy, and patience, they were in sin for YEARS before God had them taken (actually generations)
you will find very few instances where the whole nation actually followed God.

when they followed the law When did they do that in any length of time? Peter I believed it was a burden they or their fathers could not bear, when the jews were trying to force it on the gentiles.
And the question still stands. why are you ignoring what Paul made clear.

Beware the lawkeepers....I was going off of the title of the post....You must not have gotten the joke....However, the truth is keeping the law does keep me out of jail.... you know no stealing, no murdering and such.
Do I need to spell it out? If I don't do these things I don't go to jail...

Exactly, and there are multiple scriptures that say if you love the Lord you will keep His commandments. And then there is even another scripture that says to keep man's laws as they are given by God through the authorities.
Then we also know it talks that we are to follow man's laws unless they contradict God's.
Plus it calls the antichrist the man of lawlessness, and those who follow him as those who are lawlessness.
Now how can they be called this, if there are no laws to follow. People misconstrued the scriptures that state we are not under the law. We are not held to the sacrifices and curses that come from the law.
We are now under grace, and Jesus became our sacrifice and took our curse/punishment for us.

well yeah.
But God said all it takes is one sin, and your in eternal jail.
So if you do not steel and do not murder thats good and all. But you should not puff yourself or think you are better than they are, you still need to be sinless in all areas of your life. Or you will be in jail right next to those murderers and thief's.

Yes that is a good story, after God forgave them and spared them did they go back to being the same people or did they change and out of gratitude keep God's law?

That is real good EG, very encouraging? The Bible says it is the goodness of God that leads to repentance. The Bible says the law is good. The issue then should not be over keeping the law but, why. If people keep the law for salvation then that is wrong but, if people keep the law because of the goodness of God, because they love God and not for salvation then that is good.

The jews tried to keep the law, And could not.
What makes you think you will do any better than they did?
As paul said, If the law could make us righteous (morally good) then we would not have needed something better.

Maybe you are having trouble reading and understanding? I never said the law makes us righteous did I? I said we need to keep the law because of the goodness of God which leads to repentance, we should keep the law because we love God, not to earn salvation.
Here is a tip for you EG, give people a reason to love God a reason to repent rather than telling them they will go to hell.

I never said you did. I am not talking righteous as in saved, if you read, I was talking righteous as in morally good
The law cannot do you for that, It did and could not do it for Israel, it will not help you do it either.
I am trying to. Unfortunately, we still have pharisees trying to force people to keep some law that was never intended to make someone morally good, or have joy.

one of his purposes and that was to full fill the law
for by not just being a hearer of the law a man can grow in grace and foundation which is solid in the lord, one that can be broken should a man become lawless.
So then the law stands and the lord needs law keepers.

Why is that good and why is the Holy Spirit left out of guiding the believer? Here is the reason the law is good and who it is for.
1 Timothy 1:8-10
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
Just trying to understand your point here.
I agree the law could not make us or Israel morally good. but the law is in itself a morally good standard. In other words If you kept the law perfectly you would be morally good.
The problem is the law can't change you. only Christ can.
Does that line up with your thoughts?

Do I have to give a sermon and explain every detail everytime I post? People should know. I was posting to EG who I know knows better. People should know their Bible and should not have to explain themselves in every little detail everytime they post. Thereby always having to feed people milk.
