What value does the Bible add to our life? I have found that when you read the Bible it is best to start at the beginning. The first word in the Bible is the word Beginning. So to put the entire Bible in perspective it is a good idea to ask when was the beginning. God calls this the foundation of the world and this gives us something to build on. In the construction business with the exception of pole barns, you have to have a foundation to build on. The government inspectors require that and Jesus teaches we need to build on a foundation.
Point well taken however time is not my foundation but rather God is my foundation.

The only revisions that I’m aware of are spelling changes and print typos. I thought maybe you had something else.
That is the typical changes on all translations. This is why our scripture is 98% accurate. We know our modern Bible can be fully trusted as the 2% are just simple word differences that are known, a few verses that are questionable but none of them hurt the message, and a few are known scribe errors.

We are not only to live by every letter, we are to live by every stroke of the pen. Some letters require 4 strokes to make and each one has a meaning that is infinite. This is why Jesus says: "For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." (Matthew 5:18)
Where are they? The pure words of God?

A spelling change does not take away from accuracy. It is still the same word. But the new versions differ from the KJV at least 10,000 times in words, phrases, and verses.

What do you base 98% accuracy on? What’s the benchmark?

People that bash the KJV translators over Easter have no clue why they did what they did. They believe morons like James White rather than digging in to find the truth.... and they call us lazy.
You're way out of line with that comment. However, I can't say I'm surprised. I have found that KJV-onlyists are liberal with their slander, but oh so sensitive should you hint that their idol might be cracked.

This is a classic bait-and-switch. You answered your own question, not Lightskin's.

In the beginning there were four elements: hydrogen - helium with traces of lithium & beryllium. Soon stars were formed and the other elements were produced in the furnace of a star.
This has been refuted. Stars can't form without stars having existed prior... which leaves that theory formless, empty, and still off-topic for this thread.

Muslims attack the true Bible. But deluded lower critics also attack the true Bible. And that is how we ended up with a score of false bibles.
Erasmus and the KJV translators were "lower critics" as well. Most KJV-only proponents don't understand that.

Ok maybe my language against James White was a little strong. I'll tone it down to "They believe bible people like James White rather than digging in to find the truth".

As the KJV is not the standard, that statistic is completely irrelevant.

Perhaps it's better to say that there is agreement on 98% of Scripture (actually, more than that), and uncertainty on 2% (or less).

He called me to study His word, the KJV, not to correct it and be my own final authority.

I’ll use your own argument. The KJV translators would blow away your professor in Greek and Hebrew. Facts.
Actually, they would not! They had 7 old corrupt manuscripts to work from. Most came from Erasmus' Catholic Bible, and when Greek texts were not available, Erasmus back translated from Latin. I don't doubt the KJV translators were the best of their day. But, we know so much more about Koine Greek 400 years later. My prof wrote a book on the morphology of Greek. It gives the rules and exceptions for every word or word group in the NT, for every verb, noun, adjective, adverb and interjections, etc. Our knowledge of Greek, our lexicons are so much better than the limited knowledge the scholars of that day had.

And they started with CORRUPT Byzantine late copies. Not a chance of getting it right, which the translators actually said in the preface to the KJV.

I guess you would rather believe your cult KJV-Onlyists friends, than the translators themselves. I read the NET right now, with 66,000 footnotes, mostly on translational issues, and background material. They also refer to all the various manuscripts, and cite which version uses which word. I use the SBL for reading Greek.

You have no qualifications for being a scholar, other than studying it on your own, and with other cultists. You are worthy of an ignore, because you are clueless about everything to do not only with translating, but also about how to live for Christ.

Where did the "corrupt Byzantine" copies lead the KJV translators astray?
