Yeah it's impossible. Just because the ship "has room" does not mean it does. For example I would bet those numbers take every square foot available. The ship wouldn't be able to float, the ark has been proven impossible several times and everyday we find new species (that died out millions of years ago) stop pretending.

has it really? only proved wrong by people who have an agenda who "prove" it by various calculations, yet the proof is in the pudding. Here is a exact replica of the ark built entirly out of wood and flating on its own. Built by Johan Huibers in Holland.

Easily. Especially when you rule out all the different varients of animals which have emerged over thousands of years since Noah.

Scoffers try to include those. It's the only way they can cling to their "it's impossible" claims. And if they don't cling to it, then they would fear that the Bible is true, and if the Bible is true, then so is the stuff about repenting of your sins, and they don't want that, hence they will cling to the "it's impossible" stance now matter how much we try to reason with them.

If you only had two of each kind how do you explain the countless variations of kinds today? We know they didn't all come about in the last few thousand years...

ken says you only needed two dogs two dinosaur kinds etc.

if he had two of every kind he still wouldn't have enough room. Some of the largest dinosaurs were 50-60 meters long! We have found some new species of crocs that were over 40 feet! Turtles weighing nearly what a car weighs and much more. Surely this wood boat couldn't hold all of them, many animals need such a different environment that many wouldn't survive on this boat ride.

Don't make me laugh! What kind of idiot would take full-grown adult dinosaurs aboard the Ark? Noah wasn't stupid, God much less so (not at all) and he brought all of the animals to him and his family. Use your common sense! The animals aboard the ark would've been quite young, including the dinosaurs.

Correct. I am just waiting for Nephi to retract the comments that building an ark out of wood is impossible. No doubt another theory will come along to say it still was impossible to build "back then". It must be a bit of a blow to suddenly be proved wrong.

To be fair, as impressive as it is, iI have my doubts that it would hold two of even half the amount of animals on Earth. There's about an estimated 25 -30 million species on Earth today.

Even half of that, then two of each animal. That's still 25 million actual animals. And a really large number of those are walking land animals. I just don't see it.

However, the ark is very impressive.

I have heard that there's an emerging theory that the flood was in the middle east specifically near Israel, and not the whole world. I mean, there's not enough ice to cover the whole world if it melted, but certainly in those days, Israel and Egypt and other nearing countries would have seemed vast as the world.

A bit like ancient china when many chinese thought that china actually was the whole world. They used to sail around and for hundreds of years after, even upon discovering other countries, they thought the earth was flat and would draw maps with china being the bulk of the earth and other countries being tiny.

I'm not a mormon, I just got done reading it though, had a lot of good laughs. Same with any religious book really. The book of mormon has a lot of action in it though and a lot less rape.

The Book of Mormon also has a lot less truth (Joseph Smith added to and edited the Bible to his own whims), originality (it's plagarised from a few different sources). Just because the Bible describes great violence and rape etc. doesn't mean it condones such things. Read it in context. Also, realise the Bible is God's Word and many parts are just recording the actions of sinful humanity (human history) and what happens when they depart from God and his commands.

And that's suppose to hold two of every animal on the planet?

Two of every kind, not two of ever animal. Seriously, you guys do no research whatsoever and then blast Christians for believing in "fairytales"? It's sickening. Not every species of animal existing today has always existed. For example: dogs of every kind (domestic, wild etc.) can be traced back to the wolf.

When you think about, the level of technology they had just prior to the Flood would've been about the same we see around the time of the Tower of Babel (roughly 200 years later) and not long after, like the fully-formed kingdoms of Egypt. Ancient man were an intelligent people that's for sure!

Again you continue to assume that every breed of animal alive today was alive back then, they were not. Thousands of years is long enough for a single type of animal to produce numerous sizes and colour variations, which are then used in your calculations.

Local flood theory is another poo-pooing of the Bible. Evidence for a huge flood covering the earth can be found all over the world, but many archaeologists and scientists will not let on about the finds.

COrrect, you do not have to go back that far in history to see how we have lost and forgotten various engineering methods and skills. THere are a number of engineering feats through history which we have no idea how they were done, leading to the alien builder theories. Even in Roman Empire period we see a number of engineering achievments and have no idea how they were done.

If you watch the debate you will see that no evidence for the flood exists, its just a silly dream.

I've heard the tell of the flood evidence. But these floods could have happened seperately and left such evidence.

I don't know. Honestly, it's speculation. But think about it. How can a species evolve different species if evolution doesn't exist to you? Or does it, I don't know. Maybe I'm assuming.

Another argument. If we have 25 million classified species now, and let's say you could fit maybe 500,000 at best in the ark, it seems like a massive evolutionary leap to go from that to 25 million. Also, back then, Noah wouldn't have classified the animals the same as we do, so he'd likely not have brought them all on the ark. Like, for instance, a Bengal tiger would have seemed very similar to a Sumatran tiger. So obviously not all the animals of today were on the ark, yet the exist, and MOST of them would have existed then.

Because a few thousand years isn't really enough for millions of new species to form. Even if we do use classifications that separate animals in more divided distinctions than Noah had done, it would be very difficult to say that those same animals didn't exist in Noah's day. Regardless of whether I call two separate rhinos a white rhino and a black rhino, those animals still would have physically existed. Perhaps not classified the same, but existent nonetheless.

If we take the premise that (logically) perhaps a few hundred thousand unclassified, but existent, species cramped the ark, that's a huge, huge way away from 25 million species. At the rate of evolution, we could maybe dwindle that classification to 24 million or 23, but certainly not all the way down to a few hundred thousand.

HOwever, I don't believe it's unwise to suggest that the flooding of the Earth was a flood of the people of the countries or country in which Noah and his family lived. Since these were the people whom God spoke of. It might also make sense that in Noah's day, the world was not as widely inhabited in terms of humanity's geographical sprawl over the Earth. Perhaps we only inhabited two or three countries at the time.

Noah came a fair distance before Abraham and Moses so it's not unfeasible that the inhabited world was fairly small, geographically.

Is that the best you can do? relegate it to just a "silly dream". Are you going to accept now that the ark is not impossible to build?

Anyone can build it float it on the ocean full of animals for a year and see how it turns out...

All this may be addressed by assuming the ark was in fact a TARDIS.
