Hello Historicist,

Where you get this notion I do not know, but it is not biblically accurate. There is no evidence for what you are saying. Adam was the 1st human.

Stinger, why are you so dogmatic? Why, unlike me, do you not use even one scripture text to "prove" your point?

I'm talking about the response I wrote to you. I mention that they differ on souls, for example, so they differ on what humans are and how they work. For some reason, you ignore that and only allow that they differ on miracles and catastrophes. Odd.

I'm not ignoring, only addressing what I thought was relevant. If you have a question about 'souls', please restate it so that I might address it. I was not ignoring it.

Then we agree that their models differ on more than the past, and that your assertion that their predictive abilities are equivalent is nonsense. They make entirely different claims, from the fate of the individual, to the fate planet, to the fate of the universe, to the presence or absence of a soul, etc.

No, each is working from the same understanding of physics. Ken Ham understands and works with the same laws of physics that Bill Nye claims to work from. The difference between the two is that Ken Ham says God created this orderly universe which works by the laws which He designed. Ham says that the physical laws by themself, are not enough to explain the existence of all things - especially life. Nye says the that physical laws are enough by themself, but admits it is a mystery as to where they came from and how they are enough. Nye has questions which can not be found within the confines of nature.

It's for this reason that you're going to be /ignored. It is essential in any debate to give your opponent the benefit of the doubt. Otherwise, you can insist that any disagreement he has is disingenuous. You cannot have a candid conversation if this is the sort of rhetoric you're fond of.

You are free to ignore me if you like.

You're not being plonked because you threaten my belief system. It's because two posts in, you're already showing such poor sportsmanship.

Again, ignore me if you must.

There is likewise no Scriptural evidence that Adam was not the first human.

You are simply reading into the text that Cain did not marry his sister.

And the people Cain feared would have been the numerous future generations,
for they lived for hundreds and hundreds of years during that time.

The bible states both:

"All the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered." (Ge 7:19)

"Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark." (Ge 7:15)

Noah didn't have to find 'em, nor round 'em up.

The ark was the length of 1 1/2 football fields, as wide as 3/4 of a football field, and as high as a four-story building.

It woulda' worked.

it does not require us to believe that there were no humans before Adam, or that the flood of Noah's time covered 30,000 foot mountains. I had long suspected this but could not properly explain it until I read Biblical Antiquities: Book I by archaeologist and Bible scholar E. Raymond Capt. As Capt explains, the key to understanding the creation story is to know that, unlike the rest of Genesis, it was recorded much earlier, and not in Hebrew, but on clay tablets in ancient cuneiform. When reading Genesis you will notice this, you will notice a brevity, and a style in the first few chapters that are not in the rest. There is more, much more to this, and it is very fascinating.

Elin, Gen. 7:19 is not telling us that all mountains "under the entire heavens" were covered any more than Deuteronomy 2:25 is telling us that "...the nations that are under the whole heaven" at that time included those in far away North America and Australia, etc. The phrase, 'under the whole heaven," in its scriptural context, is speaking of those within sight, or at most, within a few hundreds of miles. For similar reasons the word world should not be construed as describing the entire planet. There are many places where its application clearly rules out far off lands on other continents. This is just common sense.

Hello Historicist,

I'm sorry, I saw a claim by you that Adam was not the 1st human, but I did not see the scriptural proof. Please share your scriptural proof. After that, I will share my scriptural proof that Adam was indeed the 1st human.

Many times in the Old Testament, the Ancient Prophets used Global Language in their prophecies to describe the local events in their prophecies! That's because the Old Covenant World in Adam was just that; their whole world! I agree, it's fascinating! Both creation and the study of creation in Scripture and in science!

Again your suggesting before hand that I want to disbelieve.

Evidence is evidence wether you want to believe or not. And I don't think there is evidence to convince me of the claim. It's not a choice.

And that's your claim, but I don't see any evidence that you're looking to believe, so where is it?

I don't want to believe that my mother would be a murderer either. But if conclusive evidence was presented to me I'd have to believe it. Wether I was looking for it or not.

Our star, the Sun, is a ball of burning gas to the best of our knowledge. As we know, the burning of fuel depletes the fuel. The Sun has a finite amount of fuel available and is the process of degradation.

Life on this planet is as we know, held in a delicate balance as far as temperature ranges go. Plus or minus a few degrees in average temperature could cause life on this planet as we know it to be destroyed; either by ice or hot desert. It is thought that the dinosaurs needed a climate similar to what we have now in order to survive.

It is speculated that the dinosaurs existed from about 245,000,000 to 60,000,000 years ago. Logic dictates that the Sun would have been much larger than it is now, i.e. hotter.

I suppose the orbit of the Earth could have been farther away from the Sun than it is now, thereby maintaining the balance of the temperature range during the daylight hours. What about the likely freezing night time hours? What about the spin of the Earth on it's axis? Was it faster or slower?

Btw, the DNA necessary for all dog breeds are also found in the wolf.

Just sayin'

As far as I can tell, the Scriptures do not tell us the age of the Earth. Gen.1:1 simply says, "In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. 2. And the earth came to be(or became) formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters." (The Scriptures ISR)

My question is, in "the beginning of what"? It is not very clear. It does tell us that Adam was created on day 6. And Adam lived 932 years.(Or was it 939?)

There could be a gap between verse 1 and verse 2. Meaning at verse 2 begins day 1 when His Spirit was moving on the face of the waters and He said "Let there be light."

The sun doesn't necessarily get larger or smaller depending on its burn rate. Its size is more to do with the gravitational force it exerts on itself. The sun will actually get bigger and bigger towards the ends of its life and then actually supernova or implode.

and similarly, size isn't directly correlated to heat. As the sun gets bigger before supernova or implosion it actually gets cooler. If it were to implode into a white dwarf star it would actually burn far hotter than it would be burning during its expansion, or than it does currently.

If we're talking 245,000,000 years ago, the sun probably could have been hotter, but smaller. Though since its in a relatively stable gravity and burn at present, it's likely that it hasn't changed much since it first burned stably. In around another 5 billion years, the sun will have reached a size so massive that the Earth will be engulfed in all likelihood.

Anyway, point is, the only drastic climate changes of Earth since life began on it, would have been a slight cooling overall, and ice ages every 300-400million years.

Though with global warming we aren't doing our stable climate any favours.

Adam was the first human, the Bible is clear on this. Remember Genesis 1 and 2 are the same creation account, the second chapter just has a more earth-based focus. Also, mountains were likely much lower pre-Flood. This is because the Flood was incredibly violent and would've created lots of earthquake and volcanic activity. As such, our highest mountains probably didn't exist back then. So the water covering the tallest mountains is quite feasible. This Flood did wipe out the whole of creation on Earth, save for Noah, his family and the animals on board the ark (also any aquatic life that was preserved in the waters.

"Our highest mountains didn't exist back then"?! Seriously, how brainwashed are you!

No. You're the one who's brain-washed. You have the balls to come to a Christian website and preach your own religion. That's not on.
