I also like the silver twisted ones, I have been wondering about the going overboard thing. I mean true traditional weddings even nerdy ones are not all that nerdy because they still hold the usual look of a wedding but if it is our wedding then why should we care if we nerd out? But I honestly don't care if it's nerdy or traditional I'm more concerned about the cost honestly
JMO, but why not do a small, simple ceremony, and then a big reception later on? And instead of hiring caterers, make it a potluck.. Every guest brings something to eat. 
Honestly babe, me too. Which is why I keep looking at do it yourself stuff. And oddly enough, getting stuff at goodwill is really a good option too! Then it looks really nice and antiquey, but still doesn't cost a crazy amount.
Ya goodwill is great I am always amazed at the fantastic things you can get there for such a low cost I mean you wouldn't think a place like goodwill would have such amazing things but heck they do anyways
Or even better, go to the dollar store. I go to Dollar Tree alot. You can even order online..

Oh yeah for sure goodwill, dollar tree too, and of course like etsy when looking for little things like the mini pokemon figures for the table settings. And of course if there is any like wood pieces and stuff, you can literally like.....chop some. XD

Why are men always undoing and then doing up their suit buttons? I notice this, for instance, when they go to sit down, they unbutton their suit jacket, and then, when they stand up, they button their suit jacket. It seems like a lot of fussing.
