Here ya go, Tintin
(Not sure what's up with the pic upload thingie tonight...grrrr)
A couple of weeks ago I was on this page I frequent of Facebook. It's a page for people looking for adopted out family members. A young 19 year old woman had put up a link to a page she had made for donations to her wedding. Someone mentioned to her, you can't do that here. She said, well I'm adopted and my adoptive parents won't help me pay for this wedding, they don't think I should get married. So I piped in and said, I'm sorry you and your parents are having issues, but asking others for donations so you can get married seems a bit tacky when there are so many others on that page you posted who have issues like sick children, homelessness, etc, etc. If you really want to get married, go to a church and talk to the pastor/priest and see if you can have a small ceremony that wont cost a lot.
Well she was very angry at me for posting that. This girl was getting married for the wedding, very sad.
I have to be nearly dead before I'd ask for money from anyone, even a family member. I simply can't fathom asking strangers to pay for something frivolous.
Thanks, mate. I'm having trouble reading the chart. But then again, I'm 6 foot, 5 and around 187 pounds (85kg). I don't think I made the chart.
I really feel people go to far with expecting parents to pay for weddings. We don't come with dowries anymore. I was 29 when I was married and wouldn't have asked anyone for money for that.
But to expect it is wrong. If your parents or family friends willingly give you money then it's a nice gift, but if this is all she wants then she has no idea what marriage is all about.
