Yep...their sincere faith is the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ. They believed first - then Timothy. It's a good thing to have those in our families be changed by the love and grace of God towards us.

A lot of people are under the impression that the Holy Spirit will not depart no matter how one lives, but this is false. A good example of this was shown in Saul, who after constant rebellion towards Gods commands would be given over to an evil spirit after having the Spirit of God depart from him.

Also look at these examples of believers who would lose their savour and become foolish, and also the warning of having the Spirit gone out (extinguished) in them.

Jesus said Matthew 5:13 “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,(G3471) wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

When the salt loses its savour it becomes foolish. Notice the word usage in the phrase “lose savour” is also shown as “become a fool”, and to “make foolish” (G3471)

The KJV translates Strongs G3471 in the following manner: lose savour (2x), become a fool (1x), make foolish (1x).

And this is what happens when people listen to “fools” or the “foolish” doctrine of carnally minded men.

Romans 1:22 “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,(G3471)

1 Corinthians 1:20 “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish (G3471) the wisdom of this world?

So now you know the difference between the 5 foolish virgins who had no oil,(Holy Spirit) and the 5 wise virgins who had the anointing oil of the Holy Spirit to lighten their lamps. And we also now know why Jesus said the foolish salt that had lost his savour would be cast out, and trodden under foot of men.

Jeremiah 12:10 “Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness."=unfruitful branches to be removed and cast out to be burned

Notice here the foolish virgins in Matt 25:8 and the word used "gone out"=extinguished

This is the same word used G4570 as having the Spirit extinguished--->>> "Quench [SUP]G4570[/SUP] not the Spirit."

This warning of having your lamp put out is also given by Jesus here---->>>>

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Once that Light of the Spirit is removed, it is lights out and darkness enters in again=twice dead.

It's because Babylon means "confusion" and those who are of the world are carnally minded and do not understand the spiritual things of God, and so those who are of mystery Babylon will be speaking different things like confused noise, and as we know a house divided will not stand forever. God is not the author of "confusion", but of a sound mind to those who are of His Spirit, as these shall be of the same mind, which is the mind of Christ.

The world has it's own chosen priesthood, and the Lord has His his own anointed priesthood, but these 2 will not agree because the earthly priesthood is carnally minded, but the Lord's anointed are spiritually minded, and they understand the many mysteries contained in God's similitudes, proverbs, parables, allegories, etc. because they have been given understanding and wisdom by God.

You mentioned the Pentecostals who believe in handling natural serpents, but that just goes to show how the natural mind thinks, as it judges by appearances and only knows what it knows naturally. But when Jesus spoke of handling and treading on serpents and drinking deadly poison he was not talking about physical things but spiritual.

Both John the Baptist and Jesus spoke of a generation of vipers, and serpents.

Matthew 3:7 “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Matthew 12:34 “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”
Matthew 23:33 “Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?”

The generation of vipers and serpents pertains to those who are of the serpents seed as shown in Genesis 3:15. Jesus also referred to them as children of hell in Matthew 23:15 just as they are known as the children of that wicked one who sow bad seed in the world Matthew 13:38.

This bad seed is sown by lies and false doctrine that come from the spirit of their father the Devil. Just as God’s Word is the good seed sown by his children who have His Living Word and Spirit dwelling in them, these also belong to the kingdom of heaven.

So these serpents spread their poison by their false doctrine. Deuteronomy 32:33 “Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.” Romans 3:13 “Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:”

In the wandering in the wilderness we are given a shadow of spiritual things to come when the Lord sent forth fiery serpents to bite and kill the rebellious children of Israel. Numbers 21:6 “And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.”

But the Lord also had a remedy for this poison of serpents in the serpent that the Lord had Moses raise up in Numbers 21:8 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.”

This would be a sign of Jesus being made sin for us, he also being raised up, and all those who seek him would be healed from the deadly poison of the serpents. John 3:14 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:”

The Lord also sent forth scorpions in the wilderness Deuteronomy 8:15 “Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, ….” The scorpions’ power to hurt is in his tail, which represents the false prophet spirit working in many deceivers. Isaiah 9:15 “The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.”

The power in the tail was symbolized in the tail of the red dragon drawing away the angels of heaven by his lies, and this power is also shown in the army who was prophesied to come out of hell. Revelation 9:10 “And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.” (Note concerning their sting 1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; )

So the Old Serpent empowers his body (the beast), just as Christ being the head empowers His Body the Church. The serpent’s power to deceive and kill by deadly poison is in their mouth, and the scorpions have the same power to deceive in their tails. Revelation 9:19 “For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.”

But the good news for God’s elect is, they will not be deceived by all the lies and false doctrine in these many deceivers. Just as we are given power by our Lord tread on serpents and scorpions.

Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

And their deadly poison will not hurt us. Mark 16:18 “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”​

You cannot take one verse and build a whole theology or doctrine on it. You need to look at ALL the words of God as a whole and then seek to harmonize all things together to get the whole truth. Cherry picking certain verses that speak well, and totaling ignoring many others that are warnings is how many false doctrines are started and built upon. Many false doctrines are based on partial truths and only select verses.

We can all ask ourselves if we have in the past ever willfully sinned.

If we have...then according to some people's religion - this means there is no more sacrifice for sins. This means that they will remain in their sins forever because Christ is the only sacrifice for sins according to Hebrews 10:26.

We can easily see that this religious belief is the complete opposite of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

What we see in the above is a rebellious sinner who has already admitted to willfully sinning trying to justify himself in his own eyes, and is clearly speaking contrary to the words of God. What you are trying to do is conform the words of God to fit into your own sinful image. You are trying to exalt your own knowledge above that of God's and God's words in the book of Hebrews and in many other places.

Sorry bud, your own confession of willfully sinning and also being a born again son of God who has been set free from sin does not add up, you are truly confused. okie dokie....we can deny the truth that everyone has willfully sinned in the past if we want. We all know the real truth. The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ justifies us.

I will try one more time to give understanding between "sin" and "sinning" but after this it is obvious some are refusing to be honest with us and themselves so we will have to leave them where they are and let the Lord speak with them in due time and ask that God would grant them repentance.

In order to understand Romans 6-7 ( and then finally chapter 8 where the Spirit comes in ) we need to understand the difference between "sin" and "sinning".

Not knowing this leads to all kinds of doctrines like this "sinless perfection" in the flesh that some try to promote. This doctrine will upset the faith of the young Christian and really in the end promote turmoil in their minds and upset their faith.

This will also create a works-righteousness mindset instead of a faith-righteousness one that is completely fixed on Christ's completed work for the believer.

We will always have the flesh with us and anyone that says they never are "sinning" have a very low opinion of the holiness of God and are only thinking of the "biggie sins" which they don't do.

Malice and slander and things like these ( Gal. 5:21 ) are just as destructive as living a homosexual lifestyle.

There is a difference between sin the noun and sinning the verb.

Set free from sin does not mean set free from sinning entirely the rest of one's life. ( 1 John 2:1 )

Sin the noun has been quarantined in the flesh which is why the Holy Spirit circumcised our hearts ( where He lives and is joined as one in the spirit with us) from the body of flesh.

Romans chapter 6 and 7 uses the noun "sin" 48x times ( which speaks of the law of sin that is in our flesh ) and only once as the verb which is the action of "sinning".

Here is what Vine's describes this "law of sin" that is in the flesh - acting through the members of our body when we yield to it.

"a governing principle or power, e.g., Rom. 6:6; "(the body) of sin," here "sin" is spoken of as an organized power, acting through the members of the body, "

The set free from sin ( the noun ) is relating to not having to be subject anymore to the flesh because we have been sealed in our spirit in our inner man in Christ. - the new creation in Him.

The law of sin is in the flesh and will be there until we leave this earth. Romans 7:19-22. which is where we are not "in the flesh" as Paul says in Romans 8:9 : BUT "in the Spirit".

Now we are to walk by the Spirit so that we will not fulfill the flesh to do "its" desires. Romans 6:13

As our minds get renewed to the truth of Christ and what He has already done for us - the Holy Spirit transforms us and we live a holier life. This is all God's work but we participate in it with Him. ( sometimes this is also called the saving of the soul which the mind is a part of )

Awake to righteousness and sin not. Awake to who we are in Christ and keep beholding Christ and the Holy Spirit will transforms us to reflect outwardly who Christ ahs made us in our inner man that is in Christ - created in righteousness and holiness.

People need to see the real Christ that is in us so that they too will want to know Him like we do and see His loveliness and unconditional love and grace for them.

They believe once they believed they are saved for eternity.
Now why if this is all the Lords work do they want to win an argument which they cannot?

Now if victory was so simple and assured surely they would be working in it?
The reality is they feel failures, the same as when they first came to faith. But this shouts
at them they have not found what they hoped. But the answer is this is what is expected and
weak christians will walk away from the faith unless they are told this is expected.

But wait a minute. Why should it matter, and why should this eternal work evaporate in believers

How do we overcome and why do Christians stand for the gospel of the grace of Christ? John gives us the answer:

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (1 Jn 4:4)

Overcoming is not about jumping through hoops and satisfying the expectations of men. It’s about depending on The Overcomer who lives in you.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 Jn 5:4-5)

Are you born of God? Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God? If yes, then the Overcomer lives in you and you can’t help but be an overcomer.

That’s why Jesus told the disciples to be encouraged during times of tribulation; because he – not they – had overcome the world and because they would carry his overcoming Spirit within them.

We are called to fight the good fight of faith! Believe in what Christ has done and His life will be manifested in every circumstance of our life while on this earth.

The truth is that when we come to Christ and are sealed with the Holy Spirit - we become sons/daughters of God. We cannot "un-born" ourselves from being a human being - in the same way we can't "un-born" ourselves from being in the family of God.

That shows the mindset in a works-based salvationists mind - it is all based on what "they do". They never lift up the work of Christ and talk about His beauty and great salvation - no, instead they bring condemnation.

We should be preaching Christ and His great salvation and promoting His love and grace for us so that we can grow up in Him. Having begun in the Spirit are we now made perfect by the self-efforts of the flesh?

YIKES and WOW was all I could think after reading so many misunderstood verses. How to unravel a rubber band ball???? Only the Word of God rightly divided and the Holy Spirit here can do that.

I come here after work and sometimes every other day and see all this human reasoning with the Scriptures and it's too massive a task to even think of trying to help. Are we going to let someone else's unbelief in the work of Christ to change the faithfulness of God in His promises to us? Do not let other people rob you of the love and security that the Lord has for us. We can trust in Him. He will be faithful to us in all ways throughout eternity.

Is Jesus really a liar and when He said that the Holy Spirit with be with us forever? I say NO...a thousand times NO!

We may get messed up in our stinking thinking in our minds but the new creation - the new man in Christ created in righteousness and holiness is sealed forever in Christ.

Believe in what Christ has accomplished for us and we will reap the benefits in this earth of His salvation.

I say - let's get our minds renewed to the truth of the love and grace that our Lord Jesus and our loving Father has for us and in the magnificence of their finished work for us to bring us to them forever. They love us - they paid a dear price for us - they are NOT looking for ways to keep us away from their love and grace towards us.

Let's grow up in the grace and knowledge of out Lord Jesus Christ so that we can be a blessing to others and help them too grow up to be secure children of their loving God.

I guess we will see if you are a man of your words.

It's a matter of stepping OVER to the truth that God IS GOOD and He is the GIVER. He is not like us. His promises are ALWAYS YES AND AMEN. There is NO shadow of turning with Him. We are very limited distorted beings because of the "sin factor" with a dire NEED for the redemption Jesus brought to give the world. It takes a love that must give grace and truth., the kind that Jesus brought.

So many people (and Christians) don't get that they are utterly lost and utterly un-able to do ANYTHING to be good enough or well enough or healthy of mind enough to know anything or do anything to save themselves or to keep themselves. When you find yourself trying to instill fear in people and when you find yourself trying to show people that God is to be feared and dreaded., something is drastically wrong with your theology.

Don't you think God knows how evil man is? Of course He does! That is the exact and very reason He HAD TO send His perfect wonderful Beloved Son Jesus to save us from all our sin. It took the God man to come down and redeem us as one of us. He had to do a "do-over" sort of speak. LOL

There was/is NOTHING good in us humans that could be legally binding in a court of law of 100% holiness and righteousness. All our righteousness-es are as filthy rags. And the rags that are being described are very gross. But that is describing the BEST of us humans. Those humans who are unselfish and kind and would even sacrifice their lives for friends. Even their righteousness is an old filthy rag.

Even after we are saved and sealed with the Holy Spirit, we need to depend on the Bible and the Holy Spirit to translate truth to us. Our truth is not His truth. It takes us learning how to re think all over again. I read your posts ISIT and see how you mix human logic with Spiritual truth. It just won't work. You will always come short., and your image of God will always be without Jesus. You need to step OVER.

Jesus told us for a reason "if you have seen Me you have seen the Father" Without grace, there is only judgment and wrath and a fearful expectation of that judgment every day of our lives. You need a revelation of His grace like so many still do. Just like we all did here who are posting to you. It's the goodness of God that brings us to repentance. Only knowing His love and goodness will allow us to even or ever DARE to step out in faith and chance not working hard and long and constantly to keep Him happy.

After Jesus came on the scene and showed us God without wrath and judgment but instead 100% giving of Himself to fix the giant massive mess of humanities sin., were people able to dare believe that a Holy Righteous Perfect God who can't even look upon sin would even consider us humans.

If a person (saved or unsaved) still thinks there is ANYTHING good in them aside from what Jesus has put in them after they got saved they are working under a lie from the enemy. The Bible says we are "bankrupt" have zilch and nothing that could help us on our own.

When a Christian begins to learn the extent of the limits of their flesh, the very flesh we are living in right now and also realize the distorted thinking we have apart from the Holy Spirit., it is then they realize they NEED grace. And then to find out that the very grace we need has been provided for us by none other than JESUS CHRIST!! Then is when we begin the JOY OF OUR SALVATION!!!

We are then are able to accept our total inability and allow Jesus to change us from the inside out. We then know it is HIM and NOT us doing the changing. We will be able to see our weaknesses in light of His perfectness and not faint in defeat and condemnation. Only getting a revelation of grace can teach us this. That's why the Bible says that grace teaches. That's why there is NO condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (.) PERIOD.

That is how we know there is no condition to no condemnation. And besides that, if you were not sinning there would be no condemnation anyway. There is so much to this GRACE of God. The love of God changes us. Jesus had to come.

Did you read what I said about without Jesus and the Holy Spirit influencing our thinking all the time we are prone to wander. Ever hear that song "Prone tooo wander Lord I feel it., prone tooo leave the God I love,.. take my heart oh take and seal it seal it for Thy courts above."

Paul knew our flesh was prone to wander. He explains about it in Romans 7. He also says "Who shall deliver me from the body of this death??? OH I THANK GOD HE WILL" Jesus is the answer.

No, we are fallible human beings with the flesh to learn how to subdue when we have Jesus and the Holy Spirit to teach us how to re think and re learn HOW to think. We need revelation and renewing of our minds every day.

No need to get angry and start calling out names. Do you know what a reprobate is? Here is the Websters dictionary definition;

One who is morally unprincipled ... One who is predestined to damnation... Morally unprincipled; Rejected by God and with no hope of salvation. bat-ed bat-ing bates To disapprove of; CONDEMN To abandon to eternal damnatioin

Because of Jesus that is not true of me or the others here who have Jesus. And you if you have Jesus ISIT. Because of Jesus we are no longer reprobates.
