Yes, unfortunately, instead of friendly discussion pb's gift/curse seems to be judgmentalism and projecting one's own self onto others instead of looking in the mirror. 😥

You sad little man. All the mirrors in your house must be turned to the wall so you don't crack them as you walk by.

Apologizing is the equivalent of wanting forgiveness. Sorry you did not understand that.

That, would be a hole that is impossible to fill since you have insulted and done your best with others here to cause each and every one to 'have' to apologize for what you did to them. I mean anything to get you to go bother someone else

Now that's ugly and might fulfill the seventy times seven distortion.
Gotta love that imagery

Perhaps a form apology could be written in which all members of the forum sign and send to him. A blanket apology for having the nerve, the very nerve I tell you, to question or gasp 1786127388264.png attempt to show error by using an actual biblical concept.

Who knows. It could become very popular with some here

I am so up to here with the few here who think we all owe them something. This very part of the forum is called the Bible DEBATE forum but too many wish to smother and crush any and all other inputs. The tactic is to always make things personal rather than demonstrate the ability to offer why they said what they did. And as can be seen, if the objection is noted, the next move is to put the other person's mental state at risk or say they have never read the Bible and various other things and let us not forget calling names....although that has been somewhat neglected as of late

Not sure why Christ's reference to looking in a mirror (Matt. 7:3-5) struck a nerve.
He must be a sad loving Lord.

Again, I welcome constructive criticism, so please be specific when sharing loving reproof.
Thanks.

Most members of the forum are avoiding this thread like the plague, but it would be interesting to know how participants on this thread would vote:

For TULIP.

For MFW.

Well, I vote for MFW, so many tulipists avoid/ignore me,
but the main reason I post on this thread is to help edify truthseekers.
"YOU" don't get it! No matter how many verses are quoted, your doctrinal and theological delinquency focuses the attention on "YOU." Hypocrite! "YOU" lack substance; all your points are made from a personal reprobation, or severe personal disapproval, or censure, or a localized, individual sense of being rejected or condemned.
Did some paternal figure not love you enough?
What is your malfunction?
Examination is wasted on "YOU." Anything said and then heard is thrown out against others like a parrot that caught on.
When man regresses, he isn't the equivalent of the beast of the field; he is more cunning, which makes his every point that more dangerous.

This is just a parrot. Amazon Gray:

Jesus is watching "YOU." 🤣
Hit the obstacle course, and on your belly, crawl under the fence.

As I was saying, forgiveness is not about accepting the bad behavior of another person.

I found this short read that might help some. There is alot more on the page but this is specifically pertinent

We Are Always Called to Forgive, But We Are Not Always Called to Reconcile

Everyone, regardless of the injustices they have suffered, is called to extend forgiveness to others because everyone needs God’s divine forgiveness (Rom. 3:23–26).

Even when our offenders are unrepentant, we can relinquish our hatred and bitterness toward them by trusting that God is just and will vindicate us for our suffering (Ps. 103:6; Isa. 61:8; Rom. 12:19). Those who have been offended can take comfort in knowing that God will vindicate them regardless of their perpetrator’s repentance or lack thereof.

God loves his creation (John 3:16–17), and he hates wickedness (Ps. 5:4–6). He is gracious and compassionate, longing for everyone to receive salvation (2 Pet. 3:9)—but his holiness will not allow sin to go unpunished (Prov. 16:4–5). When faced with the painful task of forgiving someone who shows no remorse for the harm they have caused us, we can find courage in knowing that God will administer justice perfectly, both to us and our offender. Regardless of the inadequacies of human justice, we can remain confident in God’s divine justice, and we can draw strength from his mercy and compassion to help us forgive. source

As I was saying, forgiveness is not about accepting the bad behavior of another person.
Too many Christians would tell a rape victim to forgive her rapist while he has yet to be brought to justice. Or, tell that black-eyed gal to forgive that man day in and day out.
There's a difference between mercy and grace.
Mercy doesn't escape earthly consequences for temporal sins.
Too many are gullible and naive—in the name of Jesus.
At the extreme, that old tradition portrayed in Hollywood said it all: while the convicted was sentenced to death, "May God have mercy upon your soul."
Any judge whose providence is upon the earth that demonstrates grace rather than (occasional) mercy isn't honorable.

So many today convey that Jesus "abolished" the Law and throw around verses like turn the other cheek. Jesus had not abolished the Lex Talionis; he addressed its misuse for personal vendettas (judicial courts).
Tit for tat really conveys personal methods used for vendettas.
Not the correct function of the Lex Talonis.
Jesus isn't the man of lawlessness.

I think it is outrageous to get in the face of another and demand forgiveness for something you have done over and over again. Saying 'You HAVE to forgive me.' is a base way to understand the concept of forgiveness. If a person states 'you have to forgive me' that underscores the fact they KNOW they have transgressed. Obviously I am taking this beyond the current childish exchange here.

We also have 'you cannot judge; the Bible says we must not judge' more baloney because you had better judge whether or not a person acted out of character or has a habit of doing whatever it is that begs judgement.

Do we forgive, for example, the pastor who has had a series of affairs but then just allow him to continue from the pulpit because we cannot judge his actions and determine that he is not a safe man?

The fruit of these wicked and deceitful actions and ignoring of actual scriptures that tell us exactly which way is up, is a dead and burdensome religion that benefits no one but perpetrators of the snares. Whether or not people know it, they are creating a little god in their own image who helps those who help themself and excuses sin because we are all human but forgiveness is divine.

So many today convey that Jesus "abolished" the Law

Well you cannot abolish God's law and He cannot accept sin so that is where Jesus fills the gap. But He did not abolish anything.
Jesus fulfilled the requirement of failure to keep the law in our stead which does not grant us a no worries sin card but it does not require we keep the law as so many seem to be tripping over these days. Not news to you I'm sure.

We can only be righteous through Christ and presenting our own 'righteousness' as participation in our salvation does make it our salvation but that honestly just seems to be out of the reach for so many and this forum presents that fact fully and without reservation.

Well I guess that's enough :censored:

The unrepentant deprives others of forgiveness.

To suggest that anybody should forgive to loosen the burden ...

From what? The burden of righteousness or justice?
Don't want to be bothered by a sense of oughtness?

Earthly courts are established upon the earth to be an obstacle to evil and to actively search it out.

In the Noahide Covenant, the universal laws, the seven, address slander or false witness.

I perceive YOUR gift/curse is being pejorative.

ROFL! Hearing "YOU" say "perceive."
Chalk another substanceless statement up to being ungenuine and unauthentic.

I'd like to frame your post and hang it on my wall as a reminder.
Unmerited favor.
To clarify, if an earthly judge demonstrated true grace, he/she would have convicted somebody innocent (or let the guilty go at the expense of the innocent). Obviously, justification is emphasized among the self-justified, and sanctification is a blank space here on some pages.
I'm not over-explaining that to you @pinebeach because unlike some others that throw around "perceive," you'll get there if given a moment of pause. Not that I am more perceptive than you.
I appreciate the grace you demonstrate here on this board to me personally by providing considerate and ridicule-free responses, all the while realizing "that man" disagrees, and rightfully so, with everything.
In this stagnant small pond with appropriately sized fish, you are contrasted and stand out.
I meant that as a compliment, whether we agree or disagree on every subject or topic.
Your civil rational discourse is noted in your favor.
As for me, I have to shower after engaging "that man."
