I was also christened in the church of England. I was not born again. I believed the basics. Jesus is God, died and rose again and so on. I can still recite the apostle's creed. It meant as much to me as the fact that Nero was emperor of Rome.
We do not receive salvation. We receive Christ, and He saves us.
John 1: 12 & 13
But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God—children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.
It is vital to know that God saves sinners. Most people believe that they are fundamentally good. I was a suicidal drunk but I considered myself to be good. It's not a religion or a club that you sign up for. It's new life in Christ and a personal relationship with God through Christ. I suggest that you read the gospel of John. It will help you see what you need to see.

I believe I'm saved and believe that when we recieve God the son we also recieve the fruits of God the holy spirit which is the second birth of the soul. Which is sanctioned By God the father.
Jesus said no one comes to father accept through me, my mum taught me this also, and would read scriptures to me every night befor I went to sleep.
I believe this is salvation are you saying recieving Christ is not recieving salvation of your soul.
Surely if you have received Christ, you have also received the fruit of the holy spirit, which keeps your soul saved on a daily bases.
Is that not salvation. ?

All my posts I have expressed why I feal I'm saved including displaying fruits and feeling Convicted.
I haven't once accused anyone directly that there not saved.
I have listened to what I feal are true believers faith here and took it in which has restored my faith. My question was am I saved I was confused with what baptism of fire ment.
If you read the whole thread you will see my faith is restored.
I read the gospel of John over and over and mark Luke Mathew.
I became unstuck with the baptism of fire I didn't know what it ment. Then when I came here I learnt some very valuable information, that thankfully and luckily somebody was able to spot my missing link which was how baptism of fire worked.
Since then it's been a roller coaster for me.
Because I could have been sent in the wrong direction.
Like being told to work it out for my self.
That's not how I roll. I believe mature elders spiritually grown can help with counselling.
Whilst reading the Gospel of John will help me see something it will only help me see that something if I believe which I do but I still could be come unstuck.
I wasn't sure if the relation ship i was allready having with something Good ment I was born again.
My mum died and I dint't get much time to speak about faith with mum as a mature person. But my mum always disciplined me with love. And taught me pray as a child everyday befor school. And at every meal. My mum would always teach me things and say this is how Jesus in heaven likes you to believe and always teaching me I should always try to please God by behaving Good. I never went to church. My mum would watch sermons on a Sunday because she was house bound.
Then my mum passed away and I turned to drink and became lost in my way.
But for almost two weeks now I haven't touched a drop of brandy. The hard stuff.
