Can We be Saved if We Don't Love God/Jesus?

It seems like the only way to love God with the totality of our being is to be perfect,

In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.[g] 12 He says,

“I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises.”[

Jesus is called our brother and he is not ashamed to be called that...so how can you not love Jesus and expect salvation...thats impossible

We are saved when alienated from God through the ignorance that is in us. Being children of wrath our minds hostile towards God. Dead in trespasses and sins , having no hope and without God in the world. When reconciled, through the forgiveness of sins the Spirit of the Living God takes residence within us and Christ in us begans to will and to do of His good pleasure, we become containers for God with the Holy Spirit literally shedding abroad the love of God in our hearts. Can we be saved when we don't love Jesus ? That is exactly when we are saved. As new born babes we begin to desire the sincere milk of the word that we may grow thereby, Christs commandment to love is realized because He that is joined to the Lord is "one spirit". It is a vine branch thing , with the Love begin a living person . God Himself. The fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy , Peace etc. We are kept by the power of God to salvation. The Lord keeping us and working in us until the redemption of the purchased possesion. Apart from Him we can do nothing . Abide in Me. Seeking the Lord , keeping our hearts with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life are all essentials to The Lords command to love . Lest our hearts be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. We love as an outflowing of our relationship with the Lord. Just as ministry is based upon the same thing our relationship with the Lord. Not a do this type of thing , but a living water type of thing. Glory to God.
 
Jesus loved John. John knew what the Lord's commandments were:

"And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and we should love one another just as He commanded us. Whoever keeps His commandments remains in God, and God in him. And by this we know that He remains in us: by the Spirit He has given us."

"One another" relates to other believers. And the standard of how we are to love one another is "how He loved us".
In the parable about the Samaritan, Jesus is the neighbor/Samaritan. "Loving our neighbor" is about loving Jesus Christ.

AH - the 'ol "Faith" or "Works" foolishness again.

See Eph 2:8,9

"Works" don't save anybody

Being "Born AGain" (saved) is BY FAITH not by "Works".

WHen one is Born Again of the Holy SPirit BY FAITH, then "good works" are the natural result of being indwelled by the Holy Spirit.

Simple as that.

thank you for this...in our nature the love of God is not in us and we cant love God ...but if we become his flock ..th love is manadtory before that we are sons and daughtrs of wrath

we love because God first loved us
before that we have no capability to truly love..

type O sheesh ...bring forth your strong reasons" I don't see any comments on a few others you disagree with. Not a popularity contest but seems like you are enjoying dinging others that are here to share scripture but you are not sharing it , tough day ?

The Apostle Paul hated Jesus and His followers, yet God chose him . . . and saved him regardless of his behavior.

Exodus 33:19 NLT - "The LORD replied, "I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose."
 
No you cannot be saved if you do not love God. If you keep not the commandments of God you do not love God, but you are trying to get all the reward without any of the work. The work does not save you, but the work proves your faith whether you actually believe in God and fear him or whether you are just lying and don't actually believe anything he ever said.
 
Also for clarity, I was not able to type before when I joined and was reading this earlier in the morning which is why the reactions of Agree and Disagree. Now am able to type.

Let's be clear about one thing . You can be saved when you do not love God or keep his commandments. That is precisely when you are saved.
