the Sermon on the Mount is the gold standard that we should all strive for every day. but we will fall short of this standard at times. this is reality. anyone ( peter) who thinks we can live up to this every hour of every day is grossly self-deceived.
No. No. No. And a thousand times No. The Sermon on the Mount is meant to bury you. To show you the udder futility of your own efforts. The Christian life is not one of striving, but of resting. Resting in the One who through that Sermon was pointing you to Himself as your only hope.
