Yeah i never understood the whole titanic thing...you expect me to freeze to death in this water for people i don't know and will never see again? not happening. Its different if you are doing it for a loved one, but not random strangers.

INB4 someone says its what Jesus would have done...

Boys should be taught to protect girls. I don't mean it as a blanket statement, but boys are stronger and more logical by nature. God created woman second because man had a responsibility over her. Little boys should be taught to open doors, take the bill, defend and protect, stand up for the purity of, and fight for girls and anyone who is weaker. This doesn't mean women can't carry heavy objects and open their own doors, but I believe their is dangerous arrogance in never allowing a man to be chivalrous with you simply because you can do it yourself. Little boys should be taught to speak gently and listen. We're training future husbands here. There's nothing wrong with a little
boy learning to complement appropriately.

I have to disagree with this comment. Quite often, I tend to be the one that's more logical then many men I'm around. In fact, there are a lot of women that are more logical, and a lot of men that are very non-Spock like.

And Nautlis, please move down to TX. I would like to stop having to be required to open the door whenever I'm having to juggle 3-5 bulky or awkward things.

Thank you for your post. It is encouraging to know that Ladies still desire to be loved and cherished.

I think as men we desire to treat a lady as a Lady. I appologise that men fail to do so so easily. The shameful part is that many men have not and are not being taught this God Honoring trait.

Men deep inside want to honor but need to learn what that means.

The differences between men and women are stark.
I, for one am glad to see the lines of definition being redrawn.(back to the way they used to be)
Think of it, men are one way; women another.
Isn't it stupid to try to be homogenous?
Variety is the spice of life.
And the variety of the man is his beloved wife.
And the variety of the woman is her beloved husband.
See how God made us so different? - (I think He might have done that for a reason)
Call it chivalry or just protection, but men are made to protect(look out for) their daughters, wife, and mother.
Did you see what Jesus said on the cross? He said to Mary His mother - "woman, behold thy son" (speaking of John)
And He said to John, - "behold thy mother". He never left His mother without.
He was dieing so He gave her another son, (who He knew would take care of her).
This is the true meaning of chivalry. Taking care of your own.

Chivalry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chivalry, or the chivalric code, is the traditional code of conduct associated with the medieval institution of knighthood. Chivalry arose from an idealized German custom.[1] It was originally conceived of as an aristocratic warrior code — the term derives from the French term for horseman — involving honor, gallantry, and individual training and service to others. Over time its meaning has been refined to emphasize more ideals such as knightly virtues, honor, courtly love, courtesy, and less martial aspects of the tradition.
The Knight's Code of Chivalry was a moral system that stated all knights should protect others who can not protect themselves, such as widows, children, and elders. All knights needed to have the strength and skills to fight wars in the Middle Ages. Knights not only had to be strong but they were also extremely disciplined and were expected to use their power to protect the weak and defenseless. Knights vowed to be loyal, generous, and "noble bearing". Knights were required to tell the truth at all times and always respect the honour of women. Knights not only vowed to protect the weak but also vowed to guard the honor of all fellow knights. They always had to obey those who were placed in authority and were never allowed to refuse a challenge from an equal. Knights lived by honor and for glory. Knights were to fear God and maintain His Church. Knights always kept their faith and never turned their back on a foe. Knights despised pecuniary reward. They persevered to the end in any enterprise begun.[2] Essentially, a chivalric knight is a Christian military soldier. "Certain law" stated a man must be a baptized Christian in order to become a knight.[1]
Historian Johan Huizinga remarks in his book The Waning of the Middle Ages, "the source of the chivalrous idea, is pride aspiring to beauty, and formalized pride gives rise to a conception of honour, which is the pole of noble life."[3]
The term chivalry is sometimes also used to refer to the medieval mounted men-at-arms with whom this code was associated.

I'm not so sure that is Chivalry I want, but manners. And I think that's what most people want. If someone opens the door for me, I should thank them. And I would like the same back. If a man offers to pay for the food, I will thank him and depending on the situation either accept, or not accept. But at the same time, I will also bring along enough money to pay for my meal, simply because I do not expect others to pay for me. While the idea of chivalry is nice, it can be a form of pride, as Jules pointed out. But manners are not about pride, but about making others comfortable and showing respect to one another.

This is quite hilarious...

My car at the moment has a broken front seat passenger door. This means that you can get in, but you can't get out without either winding down the electric windows or opening the backdoor, then opening the front door.

Essentially it means that it is generally easier for me to get out and open the door for you.

Bahaahahhahahahaaa

I don't even know if I want to fix it. :D
