I just thought I would start a thread about this so I could find out if anyone has some gems. So share your favorite songs and movies. Also for the Bible discussion: how many people think we should only listen and watch Christian?

P.s. I listen to secular; so have at me if you dare!

Do you have any Christian radio stations in your area? Lots of good contemporary Christian music on those (once Christmas season is over). My favorite Christian music though was from the 1990's worship music like Dan Moen's and Paul and Rita Baloche.

There aren't many Christian movies that I know of so, but I do remember those end times movies from the 1980s. Boy were they cheesey, lol!

There is a film - not sure if it's Christian - called "The Dropbox". Some pastor in South Korea has a box where people can anonymously drop off unwanted babies. He has a ministry to take care of them. This film is extremely hard to find now because the world and Satan don't want the unborn to have other options besides being killed through abortion. I found that I can buy a DVD of it, so I may buy it this Christmas.

I don't have time for secular music.

Now, wait, before you throw a song book at me, let me explain...

I do appreciate some secular songs when they express something well. "Medicate" does a good job expressing how pointless life seems to many people today. "Once I Was Seven Years Old" is almost scary good at talking about how everyone grabs for something to stave off loneliness, and why all the things we try don't work. And etc.

But I have a very wide taste in music styles, y'see...

Now if I locked down on one or two music styles and considered everything else to be rubbish, I'd probably listen to secular music too. But I like everything from country to rap, from bluegrass to heavy metal, from old choirs to Jamaican. So there's just so much Christian music for me to listen to, in so many styles... Do you have any IDEA how many great songs I haven't even heard yet?!

So yeah, no, I just don't have time for secular music. I won't have time for all the good Christian music I'd like to hear.

Mind you, your mileage may vary. If you like ONLY country, or ONLY rap, or ONLY 80's rock, you should probably throw some secular music in too.

I told you where to go to have somebody have at you. You haven't shown up there.

I'm starting to think you really don't want any having of ats...

"The Island" is a 2006 Russian biographical film about a 20th century Eastern Orthodox monk. Pyotr Mamonov, who plays the lead character, formerly a rock musician in the USSR, converted to Eastern Orthodoxy in the 1990s and lives now in an isolated village. Film director Pavel Lungin said about him that "to a large extent, he played himself." Mamonov was first very hesitant to play in the film, but then was urged by his confessor to play the character. After the filming, one of the movie crew staff decided to stay on the island and live there as a hermit.

A historical film by Vladimir Khotinenko, unveils a page of the Second World War history that is little known of - the Russian Pskov Orthodox mission, that had to survive in Pskov region after it had been occupied by German fascists. Times long gone, but there are still wars, and each of us still faces the same daily choice - remain a human or become a beast and a traitor...

I forgot to mention that the above-mentioned movie Confession of a samurai starrs Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, a Hollywood star.
