Christmas! This word does not appear in the Word, just as the word, Trinity does not appear in the Word.

When those who are in Jesus Christ use this word, Christmas, they are making a conscious reference to the day of His birth.

Whether the date is correct or not, He was born to live and die to set us all free of our sinful darkness.

If one wishes to link the birth of Christ with pagan celebrations such as winter solstice, keep in mind people in the Southern Hemisphere also are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, and it is summer there.

Give some credit to the children of the Most High God, that they are aware of what the are doing when honoring their Savior for being born with no regard to being puffed up with some knowledge that someone else may consider outweighing the event of Christ's birth. We are all celebrating His birth.

Perhaps He was born in the spring, but since no one seems to be able to prove what exact day it is, we choose to celebrate His birth in reverence on a day together for we are one in His Holy Spirit.

The exact date of Christ's birth seems to be most important to ayone else but His children who are content to revere Him together.

Does this thinking seem flip? It is in reverence to the glory of our Lord, so it cannot beflip.

I do hope that not knowing the date of something we all know occurred is not sufficient reason for ay of those who are fearful of having the wrong day of the year to not believe the Good News He has delivered to all who will receive Him.

I do not have any pictures or articles of scholars to post with this.

I think we should celebrate the birth and life of Christ and that it is useful if we all do it at the same time.

I think we should celebrate the Feast Days God gave instead of adaptations of days dedicated to paganism.

let's not forget that for many, many, people, (families) this is a time of year when they throw
all caution to the wind and spend what they don't have and go into deep debt
in Jesus' name, often many are not able to pay-off this binding debt and
are throughout the whole of the next year just paying the
minimal amount on their 'cards'.
(xmas spirit?)

like it is written, 'OWE NO MAN ANYTHING', but.......

25 years ago I became a single mother......I threw out all credit cards...and decided to live on
only what I could bring home....(..I drove a forklift for a popular car company.)....when Christmas
came... I got a bonus check the week before....it was in the amount of a weeks pay......that check
was used for Christmas......of course it put the pressure on to shop 3days before Christmas...
But I have never gone into debt for Christmas......and still don't have any credit cards.....
Im quite sure it would have been .........impossible without God........but we had wonderful
Christmas'......centered on Jesus.....being together and enjoying the real reason for the season....

I have never gone into debt for xmas either. In fact, I have never wasted any money on it.

I like "Christmas" (Christ mass), "history" (His story), "holidays" (Holy days). Can anyone think of any others?

I think it's important to celebrate Christ's birthday like most of us. My question is, if our Father gives us the day to celebrate his Son's birth day, why not celebrate it on that day? But of course, we have to ask to know...

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

So that's my question to our brothers and sister; are we asking? Do we even care to know? If the living God is real, and his word true, then what James says (above) is true. Why not ask if we don't know? And why not celebrate the actual day if we do?

Christ's birthday is detailed in the first two chapters of the book of Luke. The information that's given in those two chapters is enough to know when Christ was born if we understand God's biblical calendar & feast days. The ultimate context is time.

As ancillary evidence, scripture even says that when Christ comes to reign there is a holiday all the nations must celebrate or they will not receive any rain (Zechariah 14). It's the feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), when the word was made flesh and made his "dwelling" (i.e. "tabernacled") among us (1 John 1:14). A tabernacle (sukkah) is a temporary dwelling; a temporary shelter...exactly what Christ's manger was.

There was no room in the inn. Why? Because for 3 times a year all able-bodied males are supposed to be in Jerusalem for worship: Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks, Feast of Tabernacles. And the timing of the months from Zechariah's service in the temple (feast of Weeks/Pentecost), all the way to Christ's birth (the following year), brings the narrative to the 7th biblical month. The Feast of Tabernacles is in the 7th month.

Our Father lays it all out for anyone who cares to know and celebrate Christ's birthday; commanded to be remembered throughout Israel's generations. Hundreds of years long before Christ was even born of the flesh, God made sure his son's birthday was set apart as special.
I'm sorry, but Jesus definitely wasn't born on the Feast of Tabernacles. This two part post that I made about a week ago not only refutes that theory, but I believe that I also offer a very plausible date for Christ's actual birth as possibly recorded in scripture in the second post (please read them in order if you're going to read them):

Oh good, another "Should Christians celebrate Christmas" thread, complete with "Christmas is pagan!" ranting.

Why do I say good? Well we're running a bit low this year. Usually we have a lot of Christmas debate threads, but this year we haven't seen many. And we have a quota to fill y'know... A few more Christmas debate threads and we might just meet quota this year.

*Lynx walks off singing "Satan Claus is com.... I mean Santa Claus is coming to town."

*Lynx walks off singing "Satan Claus is com.... I mean Santa Claus is coming to town."
You had it right the first time.

I'm not sure why you think such conversations ought to be mocked, but, seeing how you mentioned "Santa Claus" and all, do you know how the name "Kris Kringle" came to be associated with Santa Claus in certain parts of the world? I do:

Online Etymology Dictionary

Kriss Kringle

1830, Christ-kinkle (in a Pennsylvania German context, and as a reminiscence of times past, so probably at least a generation older in that setting), from German Christkindlein, Christkind'l "Christ child." Properly Baby Jesus, not Santa Claus.
How did a name which was originally associated with the "Christ child" become synonymous with Santa Claus in some parts of the world and Who/who inspired the same do you suppose? God or Satan?

Anyhow, I'll be glad when "Christ Mass" is over. Personally, I'm sick and tired of the world seeking to brainwash me into celebrating an alleged "holy day/holiday" which finds its origin in paganism via music, commercials and all sorts of other advertisements.

Just to name a couple...
Do you say halleluyah? I believe that is Hebrew meaning "praise Yah" (who is Yah? is that one of the names they tried to erase from the translations?).
How about "amen"?

Nothing to do with removing proper names?
That's rich with deceit and you probably don't even know it...

The proper names were removed by the Jewish Sanhedrin because they did not want people saying the names of Elohim out loud, and replaced with questionable titles such as "God" and "Lord".

Jer 23:26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
Jer 23:27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

That has continued from days of old even to now...

Rom 2:24 For the name of YHWH is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

Let me ask you, what's your name when you go to another country?
I answer to only my name.
Although I personally have no problem with you or anybody sticking to "proper names", I must say this:

I've cast out demons in JESUS CHRIST'S NAME a vast multitude of times and not once in "Yahushua ha'Mashiah's" Name. Demons don't seem to be too particular about "proper names". Again, I'm not mocking you or your stance, but I'm just saying...

Now I'm not saying this is the case in your situation, but have you ever heard of the devils casting out other devils and what happens when that takes place? Yea, the other devils or demons leave, but they come back later with even more devils/demons making that habitation far worse than it was before. Make sure to fill that void up fast before the ones that were cast out try to return.

Those that minister with the gift of discernment, casting out devils or demons had better make sure they or someone else ministers to that person after the fact to prevent such a thing from happening as much as possible.

The real Saint Nicholas punched Arius in the face at the Council of Nicea.

Look it up.

I've heard of the above being suggested, but, according to Jesus, such never happens in that Satan's kingdom isn't divided against itself:

"Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house." (Matthew 12:22-29)

Anyhow, it's not my intention or desire to derail this thread, so I'll leave off speaking on this topic here. We can discuss it further on a separate thread if you'd like to. Thanks.

yes, frequently.

most well known when a little girl, maybe teen, was being healed by a true minister of the Gospel living Jesus' Life,

and her face at first 'reverted' to some painful-looking face she had had years before, when she was 'first' 'apparently' healed by someone in satan's realm(like a rcc priest as example).

it appeared the first time as if she was really healed, and remained appearing so until someone truly in Jesus showed up and prayed for her.

then , first, her appearance became as it actually was (the 'healing' had been a deception of the enemy for many years in that town)
then , she was finally, truly and actually healed in Jesus' Name and Power. and she remained healed.

.... have you ever heard of the devils casting out other devils and what happens when that takes place? Yea, the other devils or demons leave, but they come back later with even more devils/demons making that habitation far worse than it was before. ......

I think there are a few issues with your refutation, but so as to not derail this thread any longer I'll reply to your posts in your thread.

I'd certainly be interested in reading what you believe those issues to be, so I look forward to the same...but it wasn't my thread. Also, I don't see how determining when Jesus was or wasn't born would derail a thread entitled "Christmas", but, again, I look forward to your response regardless of where it appears. Thanks.
