When I go to church I'm interested primarily in whatever the Bible study is versus the typical Protestant come to Jesus message.
Therefore I typically like the Sunday School the Sunday night the potential Wednesday night and other Gatherings such as home groups Etc.
But what I find is that even though it is arguable that the most important thing going on in a Christian's life is there relationship with Christ and how to deepen that have more of a fulfilled experience with it and reap the joy that should be ours in Christ.
Yet I find that the majority of the congregation is going through the motions and not as deeply involved as one would think in such a scenario
To put it another way the lack of sincerity I see inside of many churches is a turn off and it's hard to ignore. The flip side of this is that there is usually a small group that is a dedicated group that is deeply involved in studying the word whether at the church itself or in a home group
I attribute this partially to the Outreach of the church itself and partially to the individuals who just show up on Sunday for their feel-good message once a week
I would imagine that in any church that has a hundred members or more there's probably somebody who has a little bit of grasp of Greek and or Hebrew to help things along in the underlying text of the Bible.
It's hard to find a church that does things that are personable and up close especially when it's a large organization
I had an experience with a church who took their high school students to a weekend campout where they walked along the river collected rocks, fished as well as chatted with both their peers as well as the leaders that were present about relative things whether it be problems at home school relations Etc.
In the evening there was about an hour or two long bible discussion that was initiated by a leader but went in whatever Direction the group took it
I think that it all ages something like this helps bring groups together as well as Church congregants if they just participate. Is this something that church is still do?
