In all honesty because of everything that has happened my relationship with God has suffered and that scares me. :-([/QUOTE]

Christianity is all about having a personal relationship with Jesus. We are the Church when we speak of Jesus, and share the Gospel with others. What ever people do to us, or say about us has no influence on our own personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. Jesus is our rock. The foundation that we stand on.

From this solid foundation. We will still have our trials. Some may be from God. "testing our faith"
Other struggles may be from the enemy of God. With him attempting that having struggles put on us, we will turn away from God. The book of Job speaks of this. Seems the enemy can tempt people to do his dirty work for him also. Satan can do some of his best work in a Church. I got blind sided by this big time a few years ago.

I find it fascinating the Bible gives us answers for anything we encounter in life.
Yes! I got hammered by some members and the pastors at a Church. The biggest horror in my entire life.
Did it hurt my walk with the Lord? Not one single bit. I really learned first hand how the enemy can use people against us.

This then tempts and prompts me to become even closer with the Lord, with hopes that my prayers may be answered.
With my prayers being answered by Jesus. I may be able to help others, and inflict some harm onto the spiritual enemy
of God at times when I see him at work. With all of this life lived knowledge and hardship. The hurt that was put on me becomes a good thing in the kingdom of God. :)

One of the churches I went to...they had me write a whole list of my dirtiest sins and read them to a group of girls. Then they read the complete medical account of Jesus's death on the cross and by this time I am in tears and then they look at me and say, "your sins put him on that cross".

That day shook my faith and I think I am still trying to re-figure out who God is and what he is about. Before that church I thought I was so sure.

yes, our sins caused the need for Christ to go to the cross.
but He did it! His perfect work on your behalf is finished!
God has promised to never remember our sin, for Jesus' sake.
so, who are we to make people remember? :)

i've been assaulted...and had PTSD (unrelated).
i actually had a church almost destroy my marriage. (i know, right? lol)

Depends on your area. You sort of have one already here on CC, for starters. :) You can also make a chat group so that you have a more filtered set of people to talk with about it here.

A Google search can turn up some things local to you.
 
I took the extreme route and simply disconnected myself completely from church organizations other than for Bible studies. As far as meaningful relationships and accountability, I have not found a church with it. These things have always come from friends and family whom can be spoken to candidly. Most churches attempting to fill that role just end up judging people and misrepresenting the faith, unfortunately.

Been there and done that too. My ex molested our daughters, and people think you should just get over it. Not that simple. Plus being in the hard financial position I'm in as a single mom, even church people just seem to get weary of somebody they can't relate to. Just have not yet found a good church for us. We have to forgive and have been spending our own time with the Lord until He directs us.

Every time I bring this up I seem to get the same responses every time: "The church is made up of imperfect people." "Stop looking for the perfect church" Blah blah blah.

I am not looking for a perfect church. I am looking for a church where ya know...I feel loved. I feel like people come up with more excuses as to why the church is the way it is and reasons as to why I'm wrong or I'm not spiritual enough. I just want to be loved. Is that really too much to ask?

Also here is a question for you: Have you ever been hurt by the church? If so how and what did you do to get over it?

No person should be shunned or abused, do not hate these people but learn from them that love is a precious thing. You have the love and support of CC and we will do all we can to help you in these hard times.
