Perhaps it would help ... I dont know if this would be liguistlcly allowed,
but maybe it might help get the point across,
by not countering your understanding of the typical shadow and "reality" ...
There is, of course, no such word "reality" present in this verse ... you do realize that, I'm sure,
but then there are many, including so-called bible "translations" that don't ... we're ok with this fact, right?
Moving right along ... let's duly recognize your thought about "shadow and reality" by allowing for us to mentally
read into this verse ... see this verse saying something like ...
... a shadow it be of [the] Christ ...
I have no problem, none, with this understanding, fact of the matter, let's put this togeter with the rest ...
...in a consuming, or in a drinking, or in a part of a festival or new-moon, or of sabbaths,
which of the [things] intending,
a shadow it be of [the] Christ ...
I have no problem, none, with this understanding ... clearly, this is what Paul is saying .."intending" ..
that is, the OT rituals were but typical, or a shadow, a shadow intending, indicative of different aspects of Christ.
SUCH AN UNDERSTANDING IS CORRECT, AND HAS NEVER BEEN THE POINT OF THIS, MY TOPIC THREAD!
The point of my topic thread being ... that we read the verse for what it says
a) [things] intending, a shadow it be,
yet
b) the body, [it be] of Christ
This does not counter that the shadow is typical of the previously mention ritual;
however it does not say that Christ is the body, or that the body is Christ,
what it does say, it that the body is OF christ ... of Christ, belongs to Christ, is His possession ...
That is, the body OF Christ is ... as Paul makes perfectly clear, elsewhere ... the body of Christ is the ecclesia,
or His body of believers, His "church" or a gathering of those that He bought with His very blood and death ... His ... OF Christ ...
