I have some experience here! I grew up surrounded by passive-aggressive. It is more like...(you're right that there is a "me against the world" mentality) but it's more like...using your "manners" to get someone. The P-A wants to get someone back for not doing what they want or for doing something they DIDN'T want the person to do. So it's a control thing more than anything else. It's like....you won't agree with me or do what I want, so I'm going to get you back for that in sneaky ways. How sneaky and hard to see those attacks ARE really depends on the skill and intellect of the attacker.

The P-A wants everyones approval, and to be able to cause all to see that they weren't trying to be underhanded or mean, so they devise ways to passively show their aggression. They are great "rule keepers" in that they find a way to attack WITHIN what society deems polite.

It can get quite brutal. I've been there. If I had to narrow down what is going through a P-A's head when they are on the warpath, it would be: I will teach you to never defy my wishes ever again because I will make you so miserable you'll not DARE defy me again.

Strangely too, they are often hoarders in some way...
But it all really comes down to fear. Any control issue is fear based - P-a, hoarding, excessive anxiety, etc.
Duuuh....derail, sorry.

No, those are actually very good observations sis! AND they DO APPLY to the forums for sure!! I can't stand that stuff because as kids my brothers and I were raised in it. You never knew where you stood and were always waiting and fearing for the other shoe to drop.

Fear and control. It's the way the devil works too. But In Christ we do not have to fear and we are not supposed to. We never have to worry about another shoe dropping on us. Plus, it's good to meet people who are not dealing that way as Christians. That is when fellowship is soooooooooooooooo sweet!!!

God heals those old ways in us and gives us as well as teaches us about unconditional love (grace) by giving it to us we are able to give it to others without fear. We love Him because He first loved us.

1 Peter 5 : 10-11

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.11 To him be the power (and glory) for ever and ever. Amen.

Amen!

"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Cor 4:17-18

Ahhh...I can't. I used to BE that person. I was QUIETLY that person, holding the pain of my condition of slavery more inward, but I was that person still. If someone is in prison I want to visit them and give them some water because I know the pain and anguish of being in prison. I was visited every day by the Holy Spirit even in that condition. He never left me. I belonged to Him.

:D Hey, we are sisters from the same mother!!! ;)

Not exactly...?
He continually engaged them because they chased Him down everywhere He went, because they did not like or agree with what He said. They really, really wanted Him to shut up.

Which is the opposite of what I do. I want them to keep running their mouths so that I can learn from them and thereby more accurately refute what they say.

Excellent point!..I never thought of it like that but you are right. ..some follow others around and bring false accusations and "twists" in what is being said just like the Pharisees did to Jesus....it's a great sign that you are on the right track...!..:)

The Bible says this about false teachers:

"For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake." Titus 1:10-11

yet you can't do that, Because you do not listen with open ears. You listen with a closed mind, Already thinking you know what they believe. you prove it every time you say people believes something they do not believe.

It would be one thing if you were really hear to learn. But sadly, Your actions do not support that theory.

I have to disagree with you, believe it or not. Father God himself thought he was worth his sons life. And his son willingly went to the cross. because he thought he was worth his own life.

Yes. And we should always keep this in mind.( And I miss that mark to often)

We should have the same heart........Father forgive them, they know not what they do.

To Jesus Christ every soul is precious.

I find it amazing in the past few months, Every time someone says something bad about that person, and then posts a video to prove their point, When further research is done, every time the person who brought up the allegation to begin with is seen as the false accuser.

It is almost to the point you can not believe anything the person says about the one he is attacking..

I've noticed the same thing. There are actual "ministries" and they call themselves "ministries" whose SOLE SOUL purpose is to discredit other Christians! What is that all about????? Who has time to live their lives finding faults in others? When do they ever learn about the love of God In Christ for themselves and others?. When do they learn about the other fruits of the Spirit??

I can't think of a worse way to live life as a Christian.,finding the splinter in someone else's eye while the log gets bigger and bigger in mine!!!

I don't like passive aggressiveness because it's inherently dishonest. That's why I confront people and their errors very openly, honestly, and directly, which is the exact opposite of passive aggression.

:)

Oh..so you want them to KEEP saying what they say so you can get better and better at preaching the Good News? :)

Did you mean this? You think he preaches good news? and is not falsely accusing us who preach grace? Just asking.

No...it sure wasn't good news when I believed I had to perform so He wouldn't abandon me.
It was very bad news for me.
But the message matched what the world, my family, my spouses and my friends had shown me the world was like.
It was what I saw to be true so I accepted it.

But the Kingdom works a different way than the world, on true love, not love that only remains by performance. True love never gives up or stops loving. That's just the way the world works. NOT the way the Kingdom works.

In the world, we hide our true intents and motives so we will be accepted and loved.
In the Kingdom, our true intents and motives are brought out so that we can learn what love really is. :)

I take the good with the bad. I'd prefer they not be spewing false doctrine, but since I have no control over that the best I can do is engage them to learn and refute.

You have to figure out what they believe first. Otherwise all you do is make a mess of the whole discussion thing.
