This is a question out of curiosity, and I want to address it with as much respect and care as possible. Please respond with the same attitude.

If two girls are conjoined twins, with two legs, two arms, but two heads, hearts, and lungs, they are two complete souls within the same body. They just share a couple body parts.

So, when the girls get older and are thinking about boys and dating, things can get a bit complicated. Two souls, one body. Are they expected to date two souls? But, if they get married to the two souls, they would still only be three bodies. If the girls date one boy, and they marry, he essentially has two wives within one body. That's what it would seem like to me.

I would not be the one to tell the girls that they can't date. That's ridiculous. But either circumstance poses questions that may be difficult for others to ask, answer, or consider, especially with a Christian viewpoint.

With concern to gentleness and love, what do you think on this?
 
One of the girls may love him and the other not. Mabe the other will marry as well.It seems to be two souls or two minds in one body
they are not joined at the head. Like two different people.
 
Intriguing question. I think he would still only be considered married to one of the twins since he will have bonded with only one of the women. They probably would have to work out some kind of arrangement far in advance before talking about marriage. I've seen stories about conjoined twins where one of the twins kind of "tunes out" the relationship the other twin is having. This question brings to mind the story of conjoined twins, Chang and Eng. They each married and sired children. I always wondered how they maintained their privacy?
 
While i won't say it's impossible, you have to consider how highly unlikely this is. I don't imagine many men are looking to marry a cojoined twin. And anyone willing, or wanting, to marry someone in such circumstances would most certainly be a unique individual with a unique perspective on things, and a different outlook on the situation than the average person. I'm sure they would have considered all of the implications in advance, probably have talked it out, worked it out with everyone having an understanding of the function of the relationship and how it will all operate.
 
Rissa, have you heard of Abigail and Brittany Hensel? As I read this, I wondered if you were speaking about them because their case is exactly as you describe. They are conjoined twins with a joined single lower body--extremely rare, and even more so that they have lived to their late teens and are still going strong. They share many major organs.

And the last time I read about them, one of the twins was engaged. How it will all work, I'm not sure. Although they are definitely different souls (very different personalities, likes and dislikes), they share a single set of female reproductive organs, both internal and external. Obviously, the other twin must have been agreeable to the engagement as well. I could only think it will be a bit awkward... And I sure hope the potential fiance is sincere and not just looking for publicity. I think in many ways he will definitely be married to two women, but considering their situation, I think God would understand.

I have read about at least another set of conjoined female twins (can't remember the names... would have to do a bit of Googling to jog my memory) who had a child... and you may have read about Chang and Eng, a set of male conjoined twins--each one married and had several children. They would take turns staying in different houses with each one's wife. A bit... unconventional, yes, but it seems the situation would dictate no other choice.

(Yes, I'm a bit of a nerd on this topic... and in general :D--I've always been fascinated by conjoined twins and twins in general, seeing as I have no known biological relatives.)

SS, I was talking about Abigail and Brittany! I saw a short video on them a few minutes before I made this thread. It didn't say anything about one being engaged, but that they were 16 and just starting to figure out dating. I want to look that up, and the other people.

I had seen only a brief news clip about one of the girls being engaged... And now I see that it's being reported that this has not been officially confirmed.

I personally and wholeheartedly believe that God sees Brit and Abby as two separate people--one of them is quoted as saying, "I don't have two heads." They are NOT a "two-headed" girl... two people who, through the complexities of human formation, share one body.

It's a really complex and interesting subject... (if one or both got married)--I can only imagine what a nightmare it must be for them as well--can you imagine the terrible comments and questions they must get? When in fact, their whole life is a miracle none of us could come close to understanding...

This, of course, is the most provocative part of the dilemma. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus described marriage as follows, “But at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh." Since the girls share one set of reproductive organs, you can see the quandary which this presents. I won't even begin to delve into the question of "What if they both marry different men?".

I do believe that God has a plan for everyone on this earth, so I'm sure He has something in mind for these girls. And whatever it is, it will be good.
 
I have read that their parents don't consider themselves to be particularly religious... I'm not sure if that's changed, but I would also guess that this is probably a case of, "It's between them, whoever is involved, and God." And probably not for the rest of our prying (or wondering) minds... Though I'm sure God does understand our curiosity.

I also wonder if maybe God sometimes allows things like this to happen to make us question the real value of a fleshly body... no matter what form it may be in... And to set our minds more towards the eternal... I don't know. Another question for my very large list to ask someday!! :D

For anyone who is interested, this is a link to a page about another set of conjoined sisters--it is stated that they have one husband, and even had a daughter, though she did not survive.

Interestingly, they do not wish to be separated, stating that they personally believe that for them to be separated would go against the will of God.
