When do you feel most connected with others? When do you feel most disconnected?

I feel most connected with people in small Christian fellowship groups whose members like me and I like them. I feel most disconnected when I go to an event alone and am surrounded by large groups of people.

usually it is one on one when I can feel "connected". i am not much of a group kind of person.
though with a female i try to keep it 99.9% public or in groups for obvious reasons.

I feel most connected when I'm with a small group of people talking about something of substance...something I can sink my teeth into.

I feel most disconnected when I'm in a group of women who do the girly girl small talk thing. It sounds like a high pitched blah blah blah blah accentuated by a lot of hair/finger twirling.

I feel most connected when I'm with any/all of sisters, or since we're all so scattered around the state, when I talk to them. its nice to have someone who immediately understands your humor or what you're thinking without having to explain everything, and is just always in your corner, even when you argue and you want to just choke each other to death. I think there's something really special about a sibling relationship, particularly as adults...I don't find that same level of unconditional acceptance even with my closest friends.

Another really neat connection is playing music with another person or other people. You have to be completely attuned to whatever direction your soloist wants to go on piano, or if its a group thing, its fun to create little synergistic moments.

I feel most disconnected when I'm surrounded by people discussing football or golf, which seems to be a daily occurrance at work since I'm one of the few women in my department, in the south, near football schools, etc etc. (As for golf talk...its bad enough to watch the sport...YAWN. ) My brain just tunes it out immediately.
Sometimes I feel a little disconnected and out of my element with having mostly guys, even without the sports talk.. I can't engage in the same jokes or share the same information about myself that they're comfortable sharing without coming across as gauche.

One on one or in small groups, talking about things of substance, generally to do with life or how the mind works, how people think etc.

i feel most connected in small groups in close personal or personal spiritual converastion with others, when thier are others in the monastary prayer chapel praying at the same time as me,amen.

I feel most connected when there is a peace and harmony, nomatter what the size of the group. When nobody is met with a judgement or spite. When there are smiles on others faces, when there is a genuine feeling of compassion and gentleness in the room. When you can look at someone and see the masses of love in their eyes. When people are kind. When there are no jokes made harshly at the expense of those less fortunate than we are. When people know when to end the debate. When I can be free to express what I have to say without fear of reprisal. When people are patient. When the silence is not awkward.

I feel most connected when I'm participating in a group on a discussion that has some relevance. I feel most disconnected when I plan on one thing someone and then other plans are made without asking if it's ok or not.

I feel most connected when talking with someone one on one about the things of God. I feel most disconnected when my friends who were once interested in conversating about the things of God seem to have lost interest in Him and are now interested in worldly conversation. I've distanced myself from many friends because of this and the behavior that goes along with it.

Just a new member here, but thought I may as well jump in.

I feel most connected with my friends from Church - I've been through lots of challenges in life, and it's so nice to be part of a community where people actually care. It's just so nice when people actually take time to listen to the truth - life doesn't feel like such a burden any more. It's so nice to be part of a group of people I can have laughs and share good times with!

I feel the most connected when I find someone I can talk to and they understand ''my language''. You know like when you share something that you thought noone else understood and then that person responds in the same symphony and then a shiny light comes down from the sky while all the angels sing in harmony and you say ''YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS, SOMEONE GETS ME!!!!!!!!!!'' :D.

I feel the most disconnected when I hang out with people I don't really have a lot of things in common with and then I have to pretend I'm enjoying the conversation.

That is exactly how I would have answered this! I'm not kidding either. There is only one person I know that actually gets me, and of course she lives on the other side of the country :/

I know, those connections are hard to find! I have only one friend with whom I can talk about almost everything . But I still feel that there are things that noone seems to understand.I'm starting to think I expect too much of people since I'm sure I don't understand a lot of people either. Well, I'm still thankful for the closeness that I have found in some of my friends =).

I FEEL CONNECTED WHEN IM ROUNDED BY PEOPLE THAT LOVE ME AND ALWAYS SHAIRNG ON HUMAN THOUGHT AND BEHAVIOUS? WHEN IM IN MY LITTLE HOUSE FELLOWSHIP I FEEL CONNECTED.

I'm exactly the same. ^
Unfortunately, those moments are very, very rare for me these days (with new people I mean).

Most connected: when I've come into the" present moment" of any situation and another person is in that very present moment too ... weather it's for a one time laugh with a stranger, a shared passing smile, a quick hug with someone I know , or sitting with others In a quiet coffee shop having coffee... when I am in the present moment, not thinking about what I have to do an hour from now, or what happened yesterday ...simply living in the present .

Most disconnected: living outside the present moment

There is a secret in the moment. Search for it.

disconnected at the point of relaxtion, rest,at the point of day dreaming, thinking, sometimes study
at times funerals, anything that causes the mind to be busy or relaxed.

connected.to a life that is almost too well known.

poetry i'd say something like the snow between us gives a person enough time to warm up to somebody.
it's cold!......it's cold....
on a positive day....maybe im out at a movie,at the zoo.maybe a play....or eating somewhere.

as far as the internet?.....:) i also disconnect and connect like a computer as well....
how close i would be socially would depend...
thats hard to explain.what's too open?what shouldn't be there....how are people seen?the carelessness.
maybe what's in front of me is no more than information without any attachment.at the point of letting yourself open up and allowng it to be real.. it can become hard....
