I received a cross necklace in the mail I did not send for it or anything. I looked the cross up on the net and it is from ancient Egypt and has been used by Celtic People for 3000 years. It is from what I found a symbol of Baal. A Christian organization sent this cross to me. I am not going to keep it any more but what about the other cross necklaces are they image worship? I find it comforting to drive by a cross at a church. The cross it the sign of God that he has overcome the enemy.

Ex 20:4-5 You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them.

Lev 26:1 Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it.

Exodus 34:17 "Do not make cast idols.

Leviticus 19:4 "'Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD your God

Deuteronomy 4:15 You saw no form of any kind the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully,

Deuteronomy 4:16 so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman,

Dt 27:15 cursed is the man who carves an image or cast an idol a thing detestable to the lord

Tit 1: 15 "Unto the pure, all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled."

Rom 14: 23 "And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin."

So that as long as the faithful are not worshiping their crosses, nor feeling guilty for having them; then praise the Lord and enjoy!

Respectfully, this is an old thread. There is no inherent problem with bringing it up, but the persons to whom you respond may be long gone. :)

Someone wants to advertise methinks. Sorry am not buying.
When Jesus said take up your cross and follow me, I dont think he meant you had to wear a cross necklace. But if you really want to wear one I dont suppose theres any harm in it. Unless its an ankh.

This looks like a very OLD thread but I'd like to say that I do NOT consider the cross a piece of jewelry.
I do not have a cross hanging in my house either.
Jesus is not on that cross and it is just a symbol of torture and pain.

I find crosses that have a poor emaciated person hanging on it to be disgusting.

Are you a pagan ? When you see the cross, do you get a visual of something ungodly? A bunch overly legalistic Buffoons speak more about false teachings and pagan items more than the word of God. What does the Bible say about the Cross-? What is early church history of the Cross and how was it used (the symbol) in the early church persecution. There is more edifying things about the “ Cross “ then some deterrent and thought to discredit the original meaning to the Cross found in the New testament, church history and on building known as churches.

Do you not realize that Paul told the church in Rom 6:6 that their old man of the soul was crucified in Christ Jesus?! You were still abt 2000 yrs from being born yet?! Jesus put to death on this common cross an eternal fallen Spirit-man; who had taken on the persona of the Devil in the garden and passed 4000 yrs to Jesus the 2nd Adam!

I would be willing to say maybe the whole theme of Jesus crucified and the cross has been lost to the local church and their systematic theologies?! Though God still saves in whatever kind of generic Gospel you preach, He is truly Good!

A great post though, let's reexamin the cross!!😋

I don't think its been lost in the churches, we tend to focus more on it at "Easter" in forums.
When I take communion I get teary, My Lord suffered the pain and shame for my soul.
We can keep the cross in our hearts daily without external symbols to remind us.
