It is not about what I think. Its what the bible says about it.

Deuteronomy 18:10 There must not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through fire, a diviner, a soothsayer, an enchanter, a sorcerer, 11 a spell-caster, a consulter of ghosts or spirits, or a necromancer. 12 For whoever does these things is detestable to YAHWEH, and because of these abominations YAHWEH your God is driving them out ahead of you. 13 You must be wholehearted with YAHWEH your God.

By what you are saying you can (for example) watch porn and not be in sin, because you dont engage in it.

But watching /listening or reading bad things will influance a person, and in time will make you drift away...

If you're not comfortable with reading a particular author then don't. It won't do you any harm not to read CS Lewis books. But I don't honestly see how you could be snared into sorcery or anything of the kind from one of his novels or essays, he didn't promote such things.

Guess the difference is:
The bible says witchcraft is wrong, it talks about it but does not promote it. It warms people for it.

Disney, Harry Potter and Narnia, promote it, and make it look like a cool thing to do. Their audiance are children en they polute their mind.

So you want to put yourself back under the Law? Or do you want to pick and choose which Laws are ok to break and which aren't? If not, you better make sure you keep EVERY last one!

For those that want to go back to the Law, Christ profits them nothing.

If you think it is sin, then to YOU it is sin. Others have freedom in Christ. So if you think merely reading about magic, NOT ACTUALLY ENGAGING IN IT, but just reading it, is sin, then to YOU it IS sin.

Can i read about Moses and Aaron and Pharaohs magicians without being tempted to become a sorcerer?

Explain to me what this has to do with it Please? We are saved by Grace. For me it is trying to be a good person, repent from sins, and change to be more and more Christlike.
Of course I am not perfect no one is.

But being saved by Grace is not a free ticket to sin.

You seem to have made up your mind that you think Narnia is about promoting witchcraft (it isn't). There isn't much point in asking what others think if your mind is made up already.

You said you "watched Narnia". What do you mean? You watched the 2005 film -The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe?

That's great. But as stated before, Scripture says we have freedom in Christ. So if someone believes getting a tattoo or wearing a garment that has 2 different materials, or reading C.S. Lewis is a sin, then if they engage in that activity it IS A SIN.

But don't put the yoke of the Law on others that don't believe it is a sin.

Can you define a witchcraft? The real definition of the real witchcraft... not what we know from movies.

I think its easy for adults to take these stories with a grain of salt. But its not always the case with the developing minds of children.

I can imagine a lot of children become so fascinated with magic/witchcraft as their minds absorb these miraculous tales. Especially now days, with such graphic visuals and enchanting soundtracks to accommodate.

So what may happen when they get older? Well, in the world we live in today, Seers and Psychics are glorified and considered legitimate "trades". Whether it be for fortune telling, ghost hunting or solving murder crimes etc. And if those things don't fancy their interest, then there's a plethora of other "new age" genres to explore. "White magic" for those who prefer a more benevolent source of power through nature etc, otherwise "Black Magic" for those who are more deviant minded, i.e satanism etc.

Either way, i think that those kinds of shows are specifically targeted at young children. Like a "gateway fantasy" in hopes of possibly steering them away from seeking the Lord, and to desire another source of power instead.

Its a cycle that can be so easily overlooked by the more mature, consenting adults.

I think the opposite is true. I do not believe in Ninja Turtles even though I was a real fan of them when I was a child.

When a child grows up, it understands that it was not real. And if that child has occultism and witchcraft in the category of "fairy tales", its even better than for a child that has been always told by too puristic parents "its real, its real, do not watch it, you will have powers"...

No extreme is good.

No I have not made my mind up. Thats why I asking the questions. I want to hear different views on this. But it has to be biblically for me to accept.

If someone just says no it is not. It is not enough for me. I don’t know anymore. I am confused.

In Narnia, the white witch is the antagonist of the story. The white witch represents the evil which must be overcome.

This one I watched.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

I'm sure you didn't believe the Ninja Turtles were real. But i bet it made you want to bust some "bad guys" heads in at some stage?

How can you say that when children grow up, they automatically understand that magics not real? Have you not seen the big production "real tv" shows that suggest the exact opposite in our day and age?

I did. I remember my argument with my mother about it when I was 5 or so ;-)

Parents. The view of parents is what matters to a young child. If the child feels and sees that you are giving an importance to it or that you even fear it, the child will develop a different view of the matter than a child in a family where everyone understands its just a fantasy for long rainy evenings, it will be in a category of Santa Claus for such a child, when grown up.

I would doubt the wisdom of teaching children that there is no evil in the world, nothing bad to overcome. They might go into shock when they delve into Bible studies later ;)

I do not put the yoke of law on nobody. The choises you make are between you and God.
So you have freedom in Christ. Are you watching horror movies too? Just a question..?

I understand your point. But unfortunately not all parents are good/caring role models like the ones you speak of.
I see it as more of a subtle net of deceit. It wont catch all children in it. But it will catch some. And thats good enough for the evil one.
