Then lets be honest about it. This has NOTHING to do with wanting to "protect women and children" seeing as it's not the transgender people doing it [predominantly]. People need to admit that their discomfort is the real reason they don't want transgendered people going to the restroom they identify with seeing as they aren't the ones actually sexually violating people.
As for "the fact that a group of people can easily use this to harm others" being a good reason... Oh boy... you sound like some of my liberal anti-gun brothers and sisters in Christ who say the same thing about guns. "Well, people can abuse guns... so civilians shouldn't have access to them!" Yes... people can abuse guns... yes... people (non-transgender) can pretend to be transgender to sexually violate someone... but is this law going to suddenly stop them? Does the law that states it's illegal to murder stop people from murdering?
Why cant it be both? There is an obvious fear of giving people a free pass to to any restroom, and yes there is a discomfort over having everyone in the same bathroom. I am absolutely open about it. Im already uncomfortable enough with sharing a restroom with strange men I dont know, why would I want to include everyone else?
In what way is that wrong? And why should I have to give it up for the sake of the feelings of others?
And there is a clear difference between the gun rights issue and the restroom issue. Guns are a tool, they are used both for hunting and self defense. They are a necessary part of life. Restrooms are a necessary part of life as well, but mixing the two segregated rooms is both unnecessary, and not a beneficial change. It is only being done for a group of people who are making the choice to not work out their issues with their bodies, and infringing the boundaries of everybody else.
Guns-needed for hunting and self defense, and actually necessary tool for living
Removing segregated bathrooms- Done for the sake of a few who dont want to change their mindset, breaking boundaries on everyone else
The gun rights issue is not an equal comparision.
