Well Christmas is gone. All hustle and bustle to get all those presents bought and wrapped. All it took to get your place ready for all the family and friends. All the hype and effort it took for just a few hours of pleasure, and now it is over!!! Do you ever think after its over "Is that all there is." All that preparation and poof its gone. Some times we worship a False Spirit of Christmas and when its over we have a huge hole in us wanting more and more and it is just gone. God made a provision to fill that hole with His free gift Jesus. If you are feeling a little down and wondering "Is that all there is?" Take a few minutes and meditate on the next few verses out of Hebrews and John.

5 Keep your lives free from the love of money. And be satisfied with what you have. God has said,
“I will never leave you;
I will never run away from you.”
6 So we can feel sure and say,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not be afraid.
People can do nothing to me.”
7 Remember your leaders. They taught God’s message to you. Remember how they lived and died, and copy their faith.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

I know exactly what you mean. Christmas this year is just a beginning. I'm learning alot, a nice Tradition, but don't go overboard, and lose focus. A little deco. here n there, and the rest of the decorations are adorn your home with Love, Peace, HOpe, Patience. Never seen these on the shelves, only as things, but they are real. The deeper we get into things beside the Lord, the bigger the crash after, realizing something was missed, and that something is Jesus. Good point. Blessings :) Merry Christmas too. :)
 
When I began a serious study of the Old Testament, it made me wonder that today's church tossed out so much of what it teaches about how to live. So I studied the effects on the lives of people who lived that way after Christ, and the history of our world eliminating that way from our lives. Interesting study.

One thing I found about their holidays is that the world hasn't encroached on them as much as on the ones the church decided on to take their place. Their big preparations are done for their celebration of what Christians know should be of the resurrection: Passover. There isn't the let down after, for the joy of the resurrection stays after the celebration is over, even for those people who only know it as a celebration of deliverance.
