His wrath and fierce anger is not for Christians but, if the day is the Lord's, then it is ours also.
The Day of the LORD
(Zephaniah 1:7–18; 1 Thessalonians 5:1–11; 2 Peter 3:8–13)

1“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble; the day is coming when I will set them ablaze,” says the LORD of Hosts. “Not a root or branch will be left to them.”

2“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings,a and you will go out and leap like calves from the stall. 3Then you will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the LORD of Hosts.

It is definitely not for Christians. It is a time of divine wrath against the unbelieving, the ungodly, and the wicked.

Maybe I should say if you are on the earth when the Day of the Lord comes sinners shall be subject to all kinds of misery.

I understand what you are implying but, when then, will "you that fear My name...will trample the wicked...they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing..."? A thousand years later?

Well let's be frank here and say at sometime during the tribulation the Day of the Lord happens!

There is hope for those who enter the Tribulation.

Prophet Joel said: 31 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.

Apostle Peter said on Pentecost: The sun shall be turned into darkness And the moon into blood, Before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes. Acts 2:20

And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’

In the pas twenty years or so, many have made reference to our experiencing "blood moons,' however this has almost without exceptions been referring to what has always been deemed the harvest moon.

Blood will appear to be blood, no mistaking, so do not fall into that delusion. When the true blood moon is, and the sun is darkened, all will know.

Maybe not for "Christians" but how will the sons of God participate in it?

Good question. When you mention the "sons of God", I assume you mean the angels.

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

I see angels as the iron, and humans as the clay; not going to mix well. Angels will take on the curse of flesh and blood!

Psalms 82
6 I say, “You are gods,
sons of the Most High, all of you;
7 nevertheless, you shall die like men,
and fall like any prince

No. The people, in Christ, who are the sons of God. Some of them can be angels (still people) but most are not.

"All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God."

If we, as sons, are in Christ the Lord, then how will the Lord live through us during the Day?

Without my usual 10,000 words quoting scriptures line upon line and precept upon precept, please consider this:

At the rapture (a future Shavuot/Pentecost/Wheat Harvest) before the end of the 6th millennium, the dead in Christ rise first and then those of us believers that remain alive will be changed from mortal to immortality. At this timing we will either be in a safe place on the earth or perhaps even at the wedding feast in heaven which is Feast of Tabernacles that is 7 days, but can also be 7 years.

On a future Day of Atonement (7th month 10th day) Satan will be locked away.

During the 7th millennium, there will be on earth (not in heaven) both those who were changed and those who crossed over in the 7th millennium alive, but not changed. The Covenant laws will be enforced. Everyone will know and understand the Covenant Laws (of the Torah).

The Messiah will rule with an iron rod during this 7th millennium.

Believers/saints will become kings and priests teaching and enforcing Covenant Laws.

At the end of the 7th millennium Satan is released for a short while.
Then comes Isaiah 13: 9 Behold, the day of the Lord comes,
cruel, with wrath and fierce anger,
to make the earth a desolation
and to destroy its sinners from it.

There will be many immortal born into the 7th millennium. They will not know the wicked world you and I presently know. They will have to choose whom they will follow, trust and obey.

On a future day during the end of the 7th millennium, Satan will be released.

Battle of Armageddon follows. The present earth becomes a desolation and all sinners are destroyed.

After this, comes the New Heaven and Earth and the 8th millennium begins, 8=New Beginnings.

Just that we tend to think of ourselves (sons) as outsiders looking in when the Lord moves upon the earth. Yet, it seems we are integral to what He does and what He will do ever since we became "His flesh and His bones". The idea of us escaping the terrible events and then returning to rule is such an asymmetric concept: in one we are whisked away because of our weakness as men in another we are established because of our connection to the Lord. In my experience, conversations about the Lord's Day tend to take a "Christian" perspective (that of mere followers of Christ) and rarely a son of God perspective (that of being one with Him). The events of the Day are impossible and intolerable for the pew-sitters and much of the teachings about the Day come from such people.

But what of us who have been and are being refined with the fire from the Lord? What chance, do you think, the Enemy's fire has against us? Or what chance, do sons think, the Lord will not preserve us as His wrath is poured out just a block away? We have already given up sons, daughters, husbands, wives, friends, family, neighbors, jobs, wealth, comfort, ease, homes; some of us even life itself. And, in Christ, we've been publicly shamed, ridiculed, abused; some of us beaten and martyred and the Lord has preserved us through all of it.

We have learned and are learning not to fear what the Enemy (someone who hates us) can do to us and our bodies. Certainly we do not fear the wrath of the One who gave His life for us; because His wrath, if we are in Him, is not for Himself.

But this is from the perspective of a son, someone who has learned and is learning to be of no reputation in the earth and who has been refined by His fire.

Isaiah 13:
9 Behold, the day of the Lord comes,
cruel, with wrath and fierce anger,
to make the earth a desolation
and to destroy its sinners from it.

Do you agree that this day is not for christians?
the day of the lord is for all of creation , what happens to christians that day is different because they have heard and believed the gospel and come to repentance

“and to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; ( that’s the day of the lord for non believers )

when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe in that day.”( the day of the lord for believers )
‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1:7-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The same day for believers

“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:
-
and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:15-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Further details of that day for Christian’s

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:51-53‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The day of the lord is final condemnation for sinners who refuse to repent and believe the gospel but it is the day of final salvation for all believers in Christ

the day of the lord is a day of glory and victory we wait for but a day of a terrible firey end for the rest of creation

the term “ salvation “ means we’re going to be saved on the day of the lord from his wrath coming upon all creation

“but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

awe can be saved from that day

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

(but Christian’s are going to be saved hat day just as that’s about to happen )

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9-10, 13-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the day of the lord is about the day Jesus returns from heaven it’s going to destroy all of creation by fire , but an instant before the dead will be raised d Christian’s will be saved caught up into the or with Jesus forever ole the world is destroyed

In summary teo groups will perceive two different outcomes that day

( believers )

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:
-
and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

(non bekievers )
when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;”

One day with two outcomes saves and unsaved and it applies to all creatures of heaven and earth

Perhaps the Day of the LORD is all of the 7th millennium? Or it is the final year of the 7 year tribulation? Or it is the 7th day of the week? Or it is all of these things. All of these 7's are in line with the Covenant oath. We also have the 7days of Feast of Tabernacles, 7 days of Feast of Unleavened Bread and 7 weeks plus 1 day to Pentecost/Shavuot. We also have 7 x 7 years = 49 years plus 1 day equals one Jubilee Cycle (where each Jubilee, the 1st day of the next cycle of 49 or stated as the 8th day, restoration takes place). In the mention of 50, both counting to Pentecost and counting to a Jubilee, we have 50 days from the 9th of Av (5th Hebrew month) to the Feast of Trumpets which is the 1st day of the 7th month. There is also 50 days from the beginning of the Hebrew 6th month to Day of Atonement (7th month 10th day) Hebraism is circular pattern and in the Greek we find nothing ever meets up again with the past. It makes sense to me that the end of the 7th millennium is the time God/YHWH destroys Satan, the earth and heavens and at the beginning of the 8th millennium we have the New Heaven and New Earth. Each week we rehearse this sevening. The seventh day begins at sundown and goes a full day to the following sundown. This is rehearsing what was and what will be.

2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

The Day of the Lord cannot happen before 1260 days or 42 months into the Tribulation.

2 Thess 2 3 Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

Dan 9:27 He will make a strong covenant with leaders for one week [of years]. For half of the week he will put a stop to the sacrifice and the grain offering.
