Alright, I really didn't want to share something so personal on a site like this, but I trust the sound advice of some of the other users on here. I also hope that I am not judged or looked down upon for what I'm about to say, because quite frankly, I have beaten myself up so much already.

Lately, I have been experiencing highs and lows, waves of overwhelming sadness. (I really want to stay away from the "D" word.) I feel misunderstood, alone, and frustrated. I know I'm not really alone, but for some reason I get tricked into feeling that way. I've really strayed away from God and I know that's a huge chunk of my problem. I think I also feel this constant nagging in the back of my mind to make a difference, and I envision such great things for my future. I want to help people, make them feel loved, to help them find their worth. For as long as I can remember, it has been a dream of mine. It seems to be taking forever to get my life started, to finally focus on my future and my happiness. It just seems like I keep giving to everyone else, and no one cares if I'm running too thin or even if it kills me!

Case in point. Everything has been incredibly stressful lately which is when these feelings of sadness and hopelessness started.
1. My mom lost her home, forcing my sister to move in to my very small apartment.
2. My mom then moved in as well, along with her dog. I really fought against this because we do not have a good relationship at all, and being around her alone stresses me out. She ended up starting a huge fight with me, and I asked her to leave.
3. My brother now needs a place to stay.
4. Then my dad and his girlfriend loses their place and he needs to live with me, but luckily they were able to turn things around and ended up not moving in with me.
5. I start making less money at my job, due to changes in the commission. (Roughly a 400 decrease)
6. My bank account goes in the negative, and I get a late fee on my rent, leaving me without money for food or anything else.
7. My car stops running, and I can't get it fixed.

This is all in the period of a month. I feel like I'm holding it together pretty well, but I really don't know how much more I can take before I have a nervous breakdown. Why is this happening? How can I stay positive? What can I do to keep myself from slipping into a depression that I know is right on the horizon? I'll try to be as open as I can to all advice that you guys are willing to give. Thanks.

Lord Jesus help lookwhatthelordhasdone, in all these matters. in Jesus name Amen.

you can completely depend on the Lord, and live a life for him, i believe, slowly things will change, but never loose focusing in Him, and never stop spending time with the Lord. Hope it helps.

God bless!

Learn when to stop giving. Giving when we feel good is always a good thing. Giving when we're struggling can often be a good thing. But there comes a point when our giving does more harm than good, be that to ourselves or others. Often times both. Learn to say no.

Denying depression doesn't make it not happen. You have to be honest with yourself. The more you bury your head in the sand the worse you're making things for yourself. Learn to see and acknowledge the problem so that you can find a way to confront it and deal with it.

Sometimes things in life just happen all at once. It sucks, and i know it's not much of a consolation at first, but when we realize and accept that these things happen in life, and to not take them personally, it helps us to also cope with them better.

Hi. I am in a similar boat as you. Lost everything, you name it and I'm 34. I have been fighting depression and anxiety about my future and it has brought me nothing. What I am thankful for is my renewed faith in God is the only that will bring you happiness. I have been guilty of thinking money and things of the world would bring me that but not true. Hang in there.

God, please keep bring your precious daughter peace and remind her that you are always there. Please tell her during times of trial to look to you and remember what Your Son endured on the cross for us. I ask, in Your timing, to pour out your blessings to her. All in Jesus Christ's name, Amen.

Best of luck to you...

I am so sorry that you are going through something like this. And yes you are definitely not alone. I have gone through a situation that left me in the same emotional state it seems that you are in. My mom started having seizures when I was eighteen getting ready to attend beauty school and I was in the process of having a job lined up for me. However, change of plans happened, my parents received a no cause eviction notice and we had to move from my childhood home, then the cars decided to break down during the move, couldn't get my drivers license, and then my mom. It was a roller coaster ride for sure for five years. I made a split second decision that I needed to stay and take care of my mom and all the domestics in the home, which gave me not only an appreciation for what she does, but found enjoyment of taking care of others and cleaning and of course my personal favorite cooking. I put off my education until about a year ago and now I am in the process of receiving my degree in accounting and I love it. The only thing that I can tell you is give it all to God and he will guide you in what to do next. Put all your trust in him and he will supply all your hearts desires, I would also recommend picking up the bible again because that is the training book to life. I will be praying for patience in this situation.

Sounds like a boundary problem to me and that you're being a doormat and guilted into it. By all means yes help your family out, but there are limits. Simply you cant have 20 people in your place, or you're really get a nervous breakdown. They're walking over you. She needs this, he needs that. Does anybody wonder what do YOU need? Talk with your sister about her finding a job if she is old enough and doesnt go to school, per example - you need help now right? Say it. Nothing wrong with asking for help and saying you cant manage when it is true. Etc. Praying God will give you clarity on this to state your boundaries in love. Or you end up encouraging selfishness of other people.

no is a sentence. God bless you. Do seek ye first the Kingdom of God and go in the way He directs you. read His word first thing and pray in all things. I know this sounds so eye roll but its true when you develop a relationship with the father it becomes easy to stand firm in the yes's and in the no's and always let them know you want to pray about it first and do. Perhaps it is Gods will for you to caretake for a time. seek His will first always. Sometimes "d" word is about situation not chemistry. Its ok to say no & sort your situation. hugs.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and advice. I feel like I am over-extending myself and other aren't taking that into consideration. I will start putting my foot down and ask for help and support, which I really do hate asking for. My fiance has really held my hand through all of this and I'm glad God has given me a solid rock to rely on. Please continue to keep me in your prayers. Thank you.

I am praying for you. As others have suggested it does sound like a boundary issue can I recogmend Boundaries by Dr Henry Cloud and Dr. John. Townsend. It is hard when you feel you should help and the feelings of guilt when you can't. I will be praying that God helps you set appropriate boundaries.
