angels are created beings. Hebrews tells us man, which we are an animal too, is a little lower than the angels. Ezekiel tells us Satan was created full of wisdom.

He deceived at least 1/3 of the other angels - if not all of them. he deceived the perfect, sinless Woman.

so he is really really really sharp.
he thought he could deceive even Jesus - because he did not at the time know Who He is.

The Message is one man's paraphrase of Scripture, not a formal translation. Don't use it to argue about specific words.
