DEC 25TH: The beginning of Christianity or a Pagan Holiday? Let's take a closer look.

We start with Luk 1:5 kjv
"There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth."

The course of Abijah, or course of Abia, mentioned in Luk 1:5 was one of the 24 divisions of priests. See chapter 1Chr 24. Each course served for a specific period of time during the year and each course served for one week at a time, and the priests would fulfill their duties during that week.

According to historical Jewish tradition and calculations based on the Jewish calendar, The course of Abia (1Chr 24:10) month correspond to June 13-19 when Zacharias served his course of Abia. After serving the course Zacharias would have left for home to impregnate Elizabeth with John baptist,. Because of Sabbath day to follow the course, Zacharias would have started his walk home around the 21st of June in the Gregorian calendar.

We know that John the Baptist was six months older than Jesus (Luke 1:36). Based on this timeline, counting forward 6 months from the conception of John the baptise (sometime shortly after June 22nd) would get us real close to December 25th. John leaping in the womb (Luk 1:41) at the announcement was the first act of celebrating the beginning of Christianity, which has been traditionally celebrated on December 25th, Christ-mas

Therefore, by considering the timing of the priestly courses, the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus, and the traditional celebration of Christmas on December 25th, we can see how the timeline aligns to place Jesus' conception on December 25th.

If we count nine months from December 25th, it would lead to late September for the potential birth date of Jesus. This timeline aligns with the Feast of of Archangels on Sept 29. Also The feast of the archangels is a christian celebration that was not done in jewish tradition, like the feast of tabernacles. Yet no reason is given for this feast day of Archangels to start? What event triggered the start of this feast day of the archangels? Obviously to celebrate a feast day for centuries. There was an event that triggered the first feast day of the archangels. I'm presenting that Jesus Christ's birth was the event that triggered the new feast day of the archangels, that help protect us.

Therefore, the timing of the Feast of Archangels does align closely with a potential timeline for Jesus' birth, to be around late September based on the traditional celebration of Christmas on December 25th.

While the exact date may vary by a day or two, now, in retrospective, the alignment of these events around December 25th underscores the spiritual significance and joy associated with the birth of Jesus. This perspective emphasizes the faith-based understanding of Christmas as a celebration of the miraculous incarnation of Jesus and the dawn of a new era for humanity.

Sidenote; Also note the traditional Feast of the Tabernacles is about the same time but a little later into October.

What event triggered the start of this feast day of the archangels?
In the fifth century, a basilica near Rome was dedicated in honour of Saint Michael
the Archangel on 30 September, beginning with celebrations on the eve of that day.
Observed by Catholic Church, Lutheran churches, Anglican Communion.

No one knows when the Birth of Christ happened. It seems the early church choose dec 25th to combat pagan holiday.

Your comment makes no sense to me. Post the earlier thread that linked Zacharias course of abia, John Baptist age, to the calendar date of Jesus conception and birth day. Perhaps you have to read the article before you comment to know the difference.🫢

DEC 25TH: The beginning of Christianity or a Pagan Holiday?
"Christmas" (like "Religious holidays" in general) is just another re-purposed PAGAN festival related to the Roman Saturnalia festival, and a major economic event. The nativity was certainly NOT in Dec 25. There are various opinions about when it actually was, but it's totally unimportant anyway.

The beginning of Christianity is recorded at John 20:22, and the empowerment of the Church is recorded at Acts 2:4.

The beginning of Christianity took place when people other than the Disciples began following Jesus as the Messiah.

The Romans did not take the time to document the dates of the people they crucified. So how are you getting your specific dates to know the exact day Jesus died?

Why not try a bit of study and a lot of prayer!

It works!

Actually, it was because the gentiles had been celebrating pagan holidays because that is all they knew. In order to get them away from paganism, the Apostles, church leaders had to give them a reason to celebrate Jesus the Christ, rather than paganism.... IMO and from what many learned Christians have told me in years past.

Way I see it, those durn pagans had hold of December 25th long enough, so we took their holiday and made it a celebration of the Savior of the World. :)

You know for a fact it was never documented so God did not intend for it to be revealed. For you to claim you know is pure hogwash.

Hmm I think it started when He rose... yet it was a word to make fun of them.. oh that still happens today and we do most of it to our own brothers and sisters.

Lol the sorry really but this its a pagan day.. I like remembering when Christ came to this earth since for HIm its only been a tad over 2 days now. Look how many never celebrate (well they didn't in the bible). Yet they also know there was so much they did day in day out never written about.

So me.. yes love that day.. yet haha I just said I think it was Yesterday.. telling Him.. its XMAS! Remembering always that you came and died. You like that day? Praise GOD you don't then don't celebrate it and remember your no ones GOD or personal cop for God. Its His kids. The only day I would say something is when I hear on a Christian radio station for years "Halloween is my best holiday" no one says a word. Praise GOD..

For someone, who manages to get a (secret) pre-tribulation advent and rapture out of Matt chapters 24 & 25, by twisting them, it is no wonder other truths remain shut to them!

That was very profound. I'm sorry I missed your use of the Biblical text to refute my understanding. Or answer my qestion.

Let do for you what you did not do for me :)

Mathew chapter 24:3 the dialog:

"3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Three questions asked to The Lord Jesus:

  1. "Tell us when will these things?" be The destruction of the Temple.
  2. "What will be the sign of your coming?"
  3. "And of the end of the age?"

Jesus answered all three:

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Great Tribulation:

parallel scriptures (Mark 13:14–23; Luke 17:23, 24, 37; 21:20–24 )

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.

26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

The Coming of the Son of Man

parallel scriptures (Mark 13:24–27; Luke 21:25–28 )

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Don't take my word for it. Take the Lord Jesus' words, oh Tay. How about dat?
