What's your opinion on the Donald signing an executive order rebranding the Department of Defense the "Department of War?" I've noticed a few things about this that seem a bit odd.

First, he can't officially change name, Congress would have to do that. So it seems more like a way for him to get attention, like many of his other executive orders that are unlawful or unconstitutional.

Secondly, he ran on a platform of being a "peace president." So far he's thrown himself a military parade in his honor; he's stood with Israel as they commit genocide; he's stood with Putin as he continues to bomb Ukraine; now this.

Actually, "Department of War" sounds about right.

Have you ever told your Dr. you have such unresolved internal anger toward those you don't even know on the other side of the planet?
That appears to be a very pointless and unfulfilling life that you are displaying for the world to see.
It doesn't have to be that way, become a Christian and gain His wisdom and you will not expose yourself.
You have my compassion and pity.:((y)

Why not originally we called it the Dept of War and the first secretary was Henry Knox from which Ft. Knox is named. He was a artillery officer in our war for Independence.

We can find in history that oft an empire feels the need to justify their actions based upon their moral superiority. Rome is an example Rome believed they never fought a war or were the aggressor. They believed they were fighting defensive measures. This defensive measure was to include fighting other tribes of men to expand their borders so that they would be secure.

Personally I am all for going back to the name Dept of War. I am over all this sissification our nation has undertaken with it's need to rebrand everything a kinder more gentler name in contrast and opposition of the very function of said organization. I have grown tired of words being offensive and so we have to rename everything. I am ready to stop the insanity and go back to just calling things by their very reason, purpose, or function.

My opinion is that Trump has won 3 times.
He needs 2 more wins to beat FDR’s record.

LOL..........Bro you crack me up........LOL. Your tongue in cheek and humor to point out the truth of toss a rock into a crowd of dogs and the one that yelps is the one that got hit. I think the offended don't realize the gift you have and are the one of iron sharpeneth iron hooyah.

Congress would indeed have to change the name of the Dept. of Defense to the original name. The Dept. of War sounds a bit more edgy and apropos. I'm trending towards the name change that moniker is more indicative of the purpose of the military.

I think the changing of DoW to DoD was probably a pretentious virtue signal to begin with; so, I could care less what they call it. It can definitely create serious problems though, and no one in the DoD should use it in official communications until it is official. Until it proves to be problematic, it's just a mostly harmless Trump gimmick for us to roll our eyes at.

One way or the other, it won't change policies, motivation for politicians to profit from their industries that they give wartime contracts from tax$. Everything will remain the same IMHO. Wars are a racket to quote a famous General.

That said, they changed the name to start with to make it sound more acceptable for public approval. You all know how those who define the terms, define the opinions.

Ron Paul wrote< an article about this the other day. For anyone not familiar with Dr Paul, he's against wars and foreign interventions. The exception would be to defend actual American soil against enemies foreign and domestic.

War is not the purpose of the US military. It's purpose is to maintain national security against foreign adversaries. However, in actual practice, warmongering has been it's primary function for some time now. The military industrial complex is big business.

The sole purpose of the US Armed Forces is to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. This often entails war. The way that this is accomplished is to break things and kill people. That's just the way that it is.

Aussie52 disagrees with a question? Is that a witness to the ed. system in Australia? Say it isn't so! Didn't you all have to take the poison shot?
best wishes

To be fair. Naming it the Department of Defense was a rebranding back in old Harry S’s days, if my memory serves me correctly. And of course, old Harry was in a dire need of rebranding the whole thing in a time where the memories of WWII were vivid. Old Harry also had other reasons, but I don’t think it’s necessary to add them to the list.

It was the DOW from 1789 to 1947. I don't see the issue with rolling it back to it's original name.

Peace through strength and the projection of strength. Weakness attracts enemies and allows evil to thrive. If your enemies know you mean business, they tend to crawl back into the woodwork. That's the reality.

Also to note, we are in a time of war: Good vs. evil, and evil was winning for far too long. I don't know if the U.S. is out of the woods yet, but there are some hopeful signs. Only God will determine how this ends, though. My prayer is that God will turn this country back to Himself and give us the iron will to fight evil, and Europe as well. Most modern Christian countries turned their backs on God, so that's on us and we're reaping those consequences.

We need strong leaders, not politicians. We need leaders with spines of steel who will not bend, tolerate, kneel before, comply with, or placate evil. We need leaders who are not afraid to project strength on all fronts. We need leaders who will do what's right to protect the country and its' citizens against those who hate us and want to destroy us.

We do not need weak and false "leaders" who wring hands and clutch pearls over a department going back to it's original name.

The issue is the Donald doesn't have the authority to change the name. His executive order is invalid.

This is also your OP: "What's your opinion on the Donald signing an executive order rebranding the Department of Defense the "Department of War?"... "Secondly, he ran on a platform of being a "peace president."

I was responding to those statements. You made an issue of him claiming to be a peace president while wanting to change the name back to DOW. I see no problem with it.

I wonder. My days in Washington DC taught me just how politics work. When you can't solve the problem, change the department name, and do the same thing again.
