In the Bible, God tells us not to eat things like Pork, crab, cuttlefish, shellfish, lobster, etc. God had to put these laws in the Bible so that we could know certain creatures are harmful to eat. This had been a later addition by some of the translators, its not what the Bible had, just a decision by the translators of the modern versions to add “(In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean)” was valid. Well lets look at the context of the chapter in Mark leading up to verse 19 and see if it is about eating any food, or eating food according to the traditions of man. We begin with Mark 7:1-4..

We see here that the story begins with the Pharisees accusing some of Jesus disciples of not washing their hands before eating bread according to the “tradition of the elders”. Now the Pharisees had their own laws they had made up and told others they had to follow in addition to God’s Law, and this is what Christ addresses in the verses that proceed.

In Deuteronomy 13, the way that God instructed to determine that someone is a false prophet who is not speaking for Him is if they speak against obeying His commands, so if you consider Paul to be a servant of God, then you should object to you interpreting Paul as speaking against obeying God's commands in Deuteronomy 14 in regard to refraining from eating unclean animals, and if you think that Paul should be interpreted as speaking against obeying God's commands, then you should object to you considering him to be a servant of God, but either way followers of Christ should follow his example of refraining from eating unclean animals.

Jesus and the Apostles quoted from the OT hundreds of times in order to support what they were saying, so it doesn't work to interpret them in a way that turns them against following what they considered to be an authoritative source. For example, Jesus quoted three times from Deuteronomy in order to defeat the temptations of Satan, which included saying that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3). In Deuteronomy 12:32, it is a sin to add to or subtract from the Law. In Deuteronomy 13, the way that God instructed to determine that someone is a false prophet is if they speak against obeying what He has spoken, so he affirmed God as still being an authoritative source and it doesn't work to interpret Jesus as being opposed to living by what God spoke in Deuteronomy 14 in regard to refraining from eating unclean animals.

Jesus was having a conversation in regard to a tradition of the elders about whether someone can become common by eating bread with unwashed hands (Matthew 15:20), so he wasn't even speaking about eating animals about about which kinds of things are acceptable to eat. In Mark 7:1-13, Jesus criticized Pharisees as being hypocrites for setting aside the commands of God in order to establish their own traditions, so it should not make sense to you to interpret Jesus as turning around and even more hypocritically setting aside the commands of God. The critics of Jesus would not have needed to find false witnesses at his trial, but this incident was never even brought up and no one reacted as if Jesus had been promoting rebellion against the Father.

And as far as Pearls....exactly how something as pure and holy as theology is compared to something from an unclean animal....that's not right. God has a very ironic sense of humor at times.

Even if I happened to be the biggest hypocrite in the world, then that would just mean that I would need to repent, but would mean that I was wrong about the fact that. followers of Christ should follow Christ, so those are two completely independent issues.

The can be both legitimate or illegitimate reasons for not following certain laws. For example, in Deuteronomy 17:18, it specifically instructs the king to write a copy of the Torah, so everyone who is not the king has a legitimate reason for not doing that and there is nothing hypocritical about someone holding the position that we obey the Torah while not writing a copy of it. Likewise, the Israelites were given a number of laws while they were still wandering the wilderness for 40 years that had the condition "when you enter the land...", so those outside of the land have a legitimate reason for not following those laws. A large portion of the Torah was given to govern the conduct of the Levites, so the other Israelites had a legitimate reason to not follow those laws. Likewise, there being no Temple is a legitimate reason to not follow laws in regard to Temple practice. The condition for the Israelites to return to the land after the destruction of the Temple was to first return to obedience to the Torah, so when there are laws that can no longer be obeyed, then we should nevertheless be faithful to obey the laws that we can obey.

There's a whole list of 613 laws. I'm just guessing here but I'd dare say you draw a VERY arbitrary line as to which of the 613 Laws you follow and which ones you don't. Which is EXACTLY what Paul fussed at Peter about.

John was breaking the one about wearing wool by wearing Camel hair.
Then teaching others that by Baptism they no longer needed a Levite priest.
But Jesus said among those born of women there was none greater than John the Baptist.

The Torah does not prohibit wearing camel hair and John did not say that we no longer need Levite priests.
