I didn't have to go far to get this scripture and truth that applies to this situation..

How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?” Gal 3:3

Oh my, things we do that God cannot do???

I don't think we're in Kansas anymore Toto.

You want GOD to do everything for you, and in doing so reject the ability he has given you to do things for yourself that he cannot do. Your concept of GOD is like Luther's who viewed GOD as riding us like a horse, rather than as men made in his image who are freed from the power of evil to do good.

See there you go again, First it was Calvin, now it is Luther.. I am starting to think the bible means nothing to you.. All you do is see what people believe, and then compare everyone to them..

No, I want to stop trusting myself. because I, as well as ALL MEN, have proven without a shadow of the doubt, That everything I do under my own power fails..

I want God to EMPOWER me to do his work.. That is what he does..

God says he becomes my heart, my life giver, my everything,,

Rider on a horse? HA HA.. Never heard that before. But I can see you going there. Because you never desire to listen to what someone says.

A rider forces someone to go someplace. A life giver empowers someone to do something.

so sad you can not see the difference.

You want to be the horse that goes off in different directions and pray the horse arrives at the finish line so he can be saved.

Have fun with that!!

so hey, if You want to take credit for your own works. Go ahead, I will be ashamed of my own works, And keep praying for God to work in and through me,, I want to be his clay, that he molds into his son capable of doing all these things which will glorify him.

Do I believe I have eternal life? Yes in Jesus Christ.

This is like a two year old jumping around trying to say the first thing that comes into their heads. The fact they write so much and are so determined to be right, and they can put everyone else in their place in their eyes makes them correct.

This is a kind of knowledge meglomania. And what they want to really say is
"You are not saved, else you would agree with me"

The idea they could be wrong, it just does not compute. They have it all pinned down, and they argue as if they have, except their emotions. And everything is "period", "No, it is like this" or in language terms here is the correction to your poor attempt at truth, this is what you should be saying. Praise the Lord he loves me, and takes what I offer and says

"Well done good and faithful servant"

What we are seeing is a son fighting the ghosts of his legalist past. One member spent days doing something similar until finally they accepted I did not actually believe what they said I did. I am not sure at all EG will ever come to this point.
He is so certain, he is right and you are seeing him proving it, while getting it fatally wrong.

How much poison does it need to kill a person? Very very little.

If you can, then good for you.............but if you still remain on milk, then you will one day truly enjoy the meat of the Word of God....... :)

Don't take my word for it, take God's Word........the Apostle Paul spent so very much time trying to teach/warn new believers of the need to get past/grow past the carnal part of Christianity...........Salvation.......and achieve the Spiritual part of Christianity.......Sanctification.

When we receive the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, it is HE who empowers us to DO the good works that God Himself has created us for. We are not robots, we are not sock puppets, we are His work, created and empowered to do the good works He has for us to do. We are not a "wind up toy" that God winds up each morning, we are individuals who can choose to do what He has for us to do, or not.

I agree totally with the last paragraph, but how do you arrive at the conclusion that salvation is "carnal" and that sanctification is "spiritual"??

This is what believers in the grace of our Lord Jesus have to say about "sanctification"..the word itself means = "to be set apart"

We are perfectly sanctified in Christ now....very true....we as an identity the new creation in Christ will never be more holy....however

there is a "sanctifying" of our behavior that is on-going that reflects our true nature in Christ.
..so in essence...we are becoming outwardly who we really are in our inner man which is in Christ.

God sets apart ( sanctifies )our attitudes and actions outwardly but you are 100% set apart ( sanctified ) as a person..the real you in your inner man..the new creation in Christ.

Hebrews 10:14 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. ( this is present passive..passive is that something is being done to you ...the Spirit of the Lord in us changing us. )

Here is what Jesus told Paul on the road to Damascus....having been sanctified ( perfect passive )..= done deal

Acts 26:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,
[SUP]18 [/SUP] to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.' ( perfect passive )

Have been sanctified = done deal by Christ alone.

Sanctification to our "religious minds" could mean a lot of different things to different people as it depends on the religious beliefs formulated from our backgrounds....no doing the "biggie sins"...or..no smoking..no drinking..not going to church enough..no reading your bible every day..not praying for an hour each day.....no going to a movie...reading a newspaper...no being a servant of God...the religious mindset says no doing "what I don't do.."..

This demonstrates the surreal world you and other Calvignostics live in. That GOD makes man love him.

No. What you wrote demonstrates the impotent image of God that you hold to. Which goes along with your denial of the very nature of God.

Small observation Rev 2 & 3 is addressed to the believers, individuals in various locations who had as a community various different spiritual issues. All the letters end with if you are victorious, you will gain eternal life.

Now the calvanists(partial etc) will say no one in the church who is part of the elect would ever be threatened by this because they know God is only speaking to those over their who are not really saved. It is like people who carry a special ticket to heaven, and then fall deaf to warnings and encouragement to walk with Jesus.

Now to us spiritual simpletons, if God speaks we listen. If we have the problem, we work it through. Jesus is our Lord, we obey the King. It is like these people claim Jesus as their Lord but are happy to stay in rebellion. I do not think they understand the gospel or have walked in it.

Rev 2 and three are directed at individual churches in different cities,

These churches are to be a light to that city to draw people from God. If a church stops being that light God will remove the candlestick from that church.

A candlestick is never given to induviduals but churches.

Of course, You want to feed your works based theology, so it would be easy to see why you would disagree with this.. But that's beside the point.

God can remove a candlestick from a church, yet that church have saved people in it,, Just not enough to really effectively be a light into a whole city, God will still love and care for them.. And if the church grows again, he will restore the candlestick..

But if the church in a city crashes and burns, God will remove his light from that church.

GET OVER THE CALVANIST ISSUE.. You and HRFTD are masters at trying to deflect from what is being said because your stuck in the past, and on men, And it gets quite old.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong. I'm witnessing against you for judgment day.

lol. SO that's all you have?

If anything it shows you do not have any love, because if you did have love you would at least try to show e where I was wrong.

You just condemned yourself. and you can not even see it.

Paul took an interesting slant on discussions such as these.

If the gospel is being preached, then Amen. So what if the motives of the preachers are off, or somethings are not exactly this way or that, it is being preached.

The main barbs are, "I am a christian but you are not saved, you are evil, you are lost"

Do you know how many will bother to read this thread? Very few because already it has covered too much ground and is too complex. But it has brought more light on what people are saying and how they go about it. All good stuff.

This demonstrates the surreal world you and other Calvignostics live in. That GOD makes man love him.

Giddy-up horsey!

This is uncalled for. Most people here are not calvanist..and the fact you even think they are just goes to prove you are as much a liar as your brother..

You have no love in you period. And you want us to think you have Christ in you??

You're a liar, and you know it. You're judgment's coming.
He did just like you do.

WHat he did is no different than you calling me a Calvinist, or Lutheran.

Sad you cant take your own medicine..

I can not even go talk to him, He knows what he is doing is wrong, But I can not judge him for treating you like you treat everyone else..

If yu can not take it, DO not give it out.. or your nothing but a hypocrit

It is obvious from scripture that we are to walk out the holiness that is already in us in Christ. There is a difference between us as a new creation in Christ being "set apart" ( sanctified in our spirit ) and "setting apart " ( sanctifying ) our outward behavior.

The flesh profits nothing.....it is the Spirit that gives life - in order to change outwardly in our behavior.

John 6:63 (NASB)
[SUP]63 [/SUP] "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.

This sanctifying work is done by the life of Christ in us by the Holy Spirit as we behold Christ.

We are holy so we will be outwardly what we already are in our inner man of the new creation in Christ.

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
[SUP]16 [/SUP] because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY

So let me get this right.

You believe you have ETERNAL (forever, non ending, everlasting, never ending) LIFE..

But you may not get to heaven, only if you do whatever you think is required to get there??

You may believe you have it, But what you THINK you have, is not eternal life, it is conditional..

That is what you preach..

You make God a liar. By saying the thing he gave you, the think g he called ETERNAL, is not eternal at all. but can be lost.

I agree totally with the last paragraph, but how do you arrive at the conclusion that salvation is "carnal" and that sanctification is "spiritual"??

Salvation is the FIRST ACT of our conversion. VERY, VERY IMPORTANT. It is BOTH Carnal..........in that we are changed from the old carnal sinner we once were into a carnal believer in Christ and our sins have been forgiven, being cleansed of them by the precious blood of Christ..........and Spiritual because once Saved, we are now FREE to begin to grow in Christ, to learn of Christ, and this comes through the filling of us by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and this is when we become Spiritual believers able to dine on the meat of His Word. The Apostle Paul himself laid all of this out in His Epistles.

One can not be Sanctified UNLESS one is FIRST Saved. However, Salvation IS NOT the end of the road.....it is the BEGINNING of our walk/life with/in Christ.

Day by day, trial by trial, we continue on that journey empowered by, led by, and taught by the Holy Spirit, and we are able (because of this) to accomplish the good works (work of the Kingdom) that God has created us for. These good works are NOT to achieve Salvation, they are to please God, and to be obedient to Him..........to be true to our calling for which He called us for.

Believers who simply go and sit in a corner or something after Salvation, and say......."Well, I'm saved, it's all good now" and do not seek to continue to do the Will of God that He has created them to do, remain in the State of being a Carnal Christian........and the danger in that is what Christ spoke of in Revelation.......the "lukewarm" believer.

Rev 2 & 3 from a grace to heaven perspective.

A threat to not giving eternal life to a church is actually to the whole body of believers.
God speaks to communities and saves communities on mass, so join the right group and you are heaven bound.

Salvation is only individual. Victory is only individual. If a whole group is victorious, they individually have gained victory so the whole has victory.

It is like listening to a brain washed disciple of a preacher who uses generalisation to fit their theology and misses the obvious. It is so weak it is just repeated here as if it makes any sense.

It is only the sheer volume of this dross that stops it being seen for what it is, dross.

Notice also if you disagree or point out the obvious realities, you are a "legalist" or "evil"
Nice person that.

so salvation is not really salvation..

It is the start of our salvation.

This makes no sense..

That's like saying my savior grabbed ahold of me, but will not pull me out of the water until my life is over,, and I have to sit there praying with all my might that he will not let go..

That's not salvation. That is torture. and the man who would do that to another person, is not a loving man, he is satan himself.. Only he will make you think you are saved, and right when your at the end He WILL DROP YOU and you will die.

yea Yeah Yeah,'

Peter does not teach works.

But he keeps teaching we must work or else we will not get eternal life.

Dude stop fooling yourself.
