I also miss fishing sooooo much, it's been a while- but it seems that this will likely come true for me in the very
near future..rejoice with me Brother, because I will likely make a catch that would make you very jealous..

haven't been able to throw a cast net in a few, (by the way, this is not hubby) but have my hopes up
that I will be able to again, 'hopefully it won't be to long, for I love to catch those little/bait-fish to lure those
big ones onto my line...by the way, I am a die hard 'beach fisher-woman'...
My family went to Canada every year for a fishing vacation after I graduated first grade. I caught fish every year too, but nothing brag worthy. The tradition continued when I talked new hubby into going. And we went for several years after we married. On the last year, Dad and his family went the same week, so we spent the evenings together playing cards and the days fishing. (Separate cabins, which is embarrassing. John and I got the big house. Dad, his wife, my younger brother and little sister in the small house. A month later we discovered my youngest brother was conceived there.)

The last night, it was too late to go out onto the main lake, so hubby and I in one boat and Dad and brother in their boat about 30 feet away.

25 years fishing on that lake, and the biggest fish I caught was a 1.5 pound largemouth. Not shamefully small, but nothing to brag about. And my younger brother -- the first time he ever fished, when he was about 5 -- caught a 5.5 pound largemouth, so I was the sad tale in the family.

Last night, (and little did I know it really was the last time I'd go fishing), and I caught a big'un. You know that wonderful fight largemouths are known for? Not mine. He tried digging into the bottom of the lake until he ran out of energy. Then I reeled him in. But Dad and brother were watching. The big'un. A 3 pounder!

I still miss it, but at least I dream of it every once 'n a while.

It's hard getting older. It's funny but it seems to happen over nite. I used to laugh a little at the scripture that said our life is like a vapor but now see it is.
Some may find this thread spooky or depressing but it's a fact of life. It also is the biggest mystery on the planet.....for some. Here's a song I had put in my final wishes to be played. I think it says it all.

My family still doesn't believe. We don't have an easy story either. My oldest brother swore that if there was a god then Mom wouldn't have died. He was 19 when she died. He's 63 and just changed his tune in the last couple years to cover his bases. (Go to mass every Sunday and raise his boys up in the church and he gets a seat in heaven.) My family is like that.

And with that, if I could, I'd be more incline to hit a song that brings it to where they live, because they know I'm a believer and my life seems worse than theirs. (Harder, but definitely not worse. Better because of God.) I'd try and hit them where they live.

But they'd have to watch the video too, because its not just the words. It's the images.

Have any of you ever considered cremation?
Renders the question moot - and for a reason ...

Hmm...............I'm thinking you didn't read all of the comments before posting, right? :)

(see comment #5, this thread)

'S-ok........I've done that a few times myself........... :)

it's really a good idea. save your posterity money on a needless ritualism for what amounts to what was a temporary shelter for your soul. graveyard space is limited and expensive. God is fully able to resurrect you on that day even if your body is reduced to ashes - doesn't it go to dust in the other case? so what difference?

i have a friend whose wish is to be buried without a box, in a fetal position, in a shallow grave, holding an acorn. so that his remains can provide nutrients for a tree. i like this idea, however a grave is likely to be too deep for a tree to grow from.
i have seen services available, however, for young saplings to be planted in a mixture of soil & a person's ashes. i think this is what i will try to do for him, if he finishes this race before i do.

personally i'd like my remains to feed a fruit tree -- but the idea of an oak or something similar is also very appealing. a very long lived tree, that has fruit of its kind, and provides an ecosystem for many of His creatures :)

This is what I'd like to have done with my ashes.
