I'm kind of a private person in the "real world." Folks here may find that hard to believe, but those who know me in the "real world," know it is true. So, I don't think I could do that. Nothing wrong with it, just not a decision I could make.
I've been suspecting that of you for a while. (A quiet guy.) And, yeah, I'd rather think I'm being noble and my organs will be transplanted. But I'm still a smoker and I'm 60. It took me a while to accept I'll also be buck nekkid on that table. In the end though -- that's not me. That's the body that finally failed so I can get the form that will never fail.

That's why I told the real, not so glamorous, reason. We simply can't afford funerals.

some of us that know for sure that we have certain gifts that God has given to us, simply
need to willing learn and submit and grow into His expectations of us...

I'm pretty sure being a braggart is PAGAN!

:)

I miss fishing........sadly, I am not physically able to go anymore. I pray to God that no matter what the outcome of all of this stuff with me is, that I will at least be able to once again go fishing.........but, if it is not to be, I will rejoice in Him.

I do miss fishing though.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I also miss fishing sooooo much, it's been a while- but it seems that this will likely come true for me in the very
near future..rejoice with me Brother, because I will likely make a catch that would make you very jealous..

haven't been able to throw a cast net in a few, (by the way, this is not hubby) but have my hopes up
that I will be able to again, 'hopefully it won't be to long, for I love to catch those little/bait-fish to lure those
big ones onto my line...by the way, I am a die hard 'beach fisher-woman'...

It's hard getting older. It's funny but it seems to happen over nite. I used to laugh a little at the scripture that said our life is like a vapor but now see it is.
Some may find this thread spooky or depressing but it's a fact of life. It also is the biggest mystery on the planet.....for some. Here's a song I had put in my final wishes to be played. I think it says it all.

More truth there than you know. I have said before that I laughed at getting old. I laughed at any thought that the years would ever slow ME down. Then I turned 65.

Imagine being in a wee tiny car going 65 miles per hour and SLAMMING HEAD ON into a brick wall........that is EXACTLY what I felt like ALMOST the day after I turned 65.

The spirit was willing, but the body said: ARE YOU KIDDING? SIT BACK DOWN, AND DON'T TRY ANY OF THAT STUFF EVER AGAIN!

...............ugh..............

TY Potters,

that was such a sweet song and thank you for caring...

but here is my point in this thread, - my and others heart-breaking disabilities, are for only a moment
in God's time and in each and every new day, our Father may choose to give us what we need to 'over-come' and
or just enjoy some of the things that have brought us such joy over many decades of our lives,,,we NEVER
give up the hope that our Father assures us of, whether now, or later, He teaches us to just accept
because we just know that it goes with His Promises of our new life, either way, it's good enough for us...

Amen to that brother...I love it when the older saints can get together and chat and reflect on our days with the Lord.
These young guys and girls should give ear to what being said as there day will come if Jesus tarries.
It's like being at the gates of the city sorta speak. It's nice to know your not alone in what this life has dealt us. But by far we learn to cling to the promises of God and find confort in them. This is the fellowship I long for the most, I guess for the most part it comes with age.

I think it should say "Praise the Lord" because I'm thankful

although for some it will be Praise the Lord because I'm gone :0

Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

ever consider what that little hyphen is in between the dates on a tombstone.
That represents that person's life...sometimes followed by a epitaph which is how other people remembered them.

We all know that someday we will depart from this earth. What would your epitaph read or what would you want it to read.
Sometimes we are the only gospel people will ever read........so what words would your family and friends agree to best described you on your marker?

Strange how God works. Our high school youth director just mentioned a "graveyard lesson" for Oct.30th asking the youth what would be written in their tombstone.

I don't know what mine would say, but I would hope it would proclaim "she isnt here but with Christ."

She mentioned the graveyard had a lot of young chidren and made that a teaching point that you shouldn't wait to be an "adult" to make a difference but have the youth think of things they can do to make an impact in the world today.

And what a impact it would be if the Lord found a willing heart to use.;)

Have any of you ever considered cremation?

it's really a good idea. save your posterity money on a needless ritualism for what amounts to what was a temporary shelter for your soul. graveyard space is limited and expensive. God is fully able to resurrect you on that day even if your body is reduced to ashes - doesn't it go to dust in the other case? so what difference?

i have a friend whose wish is to be buried without a box, in a fetal position, in a shallow grave, holding an acorn. so that his remains can provide nutrients for a tree. i like this idea, however a grave is likely to be too deep for a tree to grow from.
i have seen services available, however, for young saplings to be planted in a mixture of soil & a person's ashes. i think this is what i will try to do for him, if he finishes this race before i do.

personally i'd like my remains to feed a fruit tree -- but the idea of an oak or something similar is also very appealing. a very long lived tree, that has fruit of its kind, and provides an ecosystem for many of His creatures :)

Yes as a matter of fact that's my wife's and our plan but to be placed together with a marker in the cemetery. We have the remains of family members in their erns in the house. My parent and hers , brothers, siblings etc. No one wants them or knows what to do with them when we pass so my wife and I decided in a resting place for ours and are working on a plan for the rest before we pass.

I don't like the idea of my body being cooked rather the worms eat it does some good then lol.
But I respect others wishes to be cremated it's just up to the individual.
