What Must Happen
Pastor Arnold
When man says that something must happen, it is often conditional, however when God says something must happen in prophecy it isn't conditional. It will come to pass just as it is written. There is nothing that can prevent Fathers prophecies from coming to pass.
Lets begin our study in Luke 22. verses KJV from Biblehub.com
Verse 1&2 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
They wanted Jesus dead, but they feared how the people would react. The multitudes loved Jesus.
Verse 3. Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of 12.
God allowed Satan to whisper into the ear of Judas. Satan is going to whisper into the ear of God's elect, as well. Are you prepared to ignore Satan when he does
Verse 4. And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. Verse 5. And they were glad and covenanted to give him money.
The price they agreed to had been set long ago. (Zechariah 11:12) It was 30 pieces of silver, the price of a slave.
Verse 6. And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude. Verse 7. Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
Do you know who the Passover lamb was this particular year? The lamb was Jesus Christ. He became our Passover (1 Corinthians 5:6-7. The fact that He must be killed was prophesied centuries before the actual event(Psalm 22) We are able to wash our sins in His blood.
Verse 8. And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. Verse 9. And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?
Nothing is left to chance, when your Father says that something must happen. Listen to what happens next.
Verse 10. And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. Verse 11. And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
This would become known as the last supper. You no doubt, have seen paintings of the Lord seated with His twelve disciples at this table. When God says it must happen, it will come to pass just as He said it would come to pass.
Verse 12. And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
You all know that the Passover lamb was killed. Jesus was crucified on the cross whereby we might wash our sins in His blood. It was through that crucifixion that death and Satan might be destroyed. Turn with me back to chapter 15 this same book. We are going to be be talking about the prodigal son. Who was the prodigal son? He is symbolic of those that followed Satan in the first heaven age. Thy did not make the grade. The only chance they have to make the grad in this age is to accept the Savior. The prodigal son took his inheritance and went off into the world. He had lots of fun and friends, until the money was gone. He found himself feeding hogs and eating what was left when the hogs were finished. He realized that he would be a lot better off at home. That is where we pick up.
Verse 21. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. Verse 22. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: Verse 23. And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
The ring was a signet. That gave personal authority to a document in lieu of a signature. The The prodigal son is symbolic of one of God's children when they find salvation. Every time a sinner repents and returns to the Father the angles in heaven rejoice (Luke 15:10)
Verse 24. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
Verse 25.Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.
The elder son that stayed home working is representative of God's elect.
Verse 26. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. Verse 27. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. Verse 28. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
The elder son was angry. He was working for and not running around spending His fathers inheritance. No one had given the best robe or a fated calf.
Verse 29. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: Verse 30.But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
This is an example of how you should not react to one of Gods children returning to Him, if you are one of God,s election. We should rejoice with the angels in heaven.
Verse 31. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. Verse 32.It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
This is what Go expects of His election. We must help our brothers and sisters who are lost. We must help them find there way back to their Father.
