I believe the fundamental reason for such high divorce rate is because of lack of discipline for children as they grow up. Then when they become adults and get married, they lack many emotional tools, especially the ability not to be selfish, so it is a general lack of emotional understanding and discipline.
Modern western society continues to deny the value of discipline, even despite all the mounting evidence society is falling apart because of the lack of it. I have seen all the experts clutching at straws to explain it, they blame everything, even processed foods, brain chemistry and genetics, but it is impossible for them to admit the real reason because it is not politically correct.... you could march them up to the gates of hell before they admit society made a mistake on discipline!

Never mind. I didn't start this thread to be made light of. I'm facing divorce. My husband wants it. I don't. I'm very heartbroken! !
you're not alone here..alot of people on here are going through divorces..why does he want a divorce?
As sad and distressful divorce is , God to is a divorcee Jeremiah 3:8 Thats why there is a wedding planned when Christ the groom returns , hope all have a wedding garment on and oil in their lamps .

i'm divorced after 25 years of marriage. she divorced me due to my newly acquired ms symptoms. divorce sucks, i pray most every day that Gods starts preparing my children's mates early even as i speak. life is hard, divorce out of control. i'll put your prayer on my list mokie.

It could not be that simple could it?
Imagine a giant set of weight scales, with two elephants at each end. One elephant, (the marriage) is a tiny fraction heavier than the other elephant (divorce). Then a mouse comes along, (MS) and tips the balance in favor of divorce.... is the divorce the fault of the mouse or the elephant that was already standing on the divorce scale?
Divorce is detestable because it is a violation of a covenant and it represents a covenant similar to the one we have with Christ. How does one deal with betrayal when it happens so close to the heart? I cannot even imagine how hurt and sorrowful the Lord Jesus is when He looks upon divorce.
Your situation kind of reminds me of Abigail and her husband Nabal. 1 Samuel 25:25 Nabal is his name and folly is with him.

In a perfect world divorce would not exist. But we're not perfect, or in a perfect world. God made us with the freedom to choose whatever path we take, and in the case of marriage two people are needed to be on the same page with each other. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way. Choices are made that have damaging effects, and when bad choices are continually made, and a path is followed leading away from home, divorce is inevitable.
God is brokenhearted, yes. But that doesn't mean we will be condemned to the pits of hell for bad choices made by ourselves or our ex's. God looks into our heart and sees whether or not we will cling to Him in those situations, or cling to the situations themselves.
