Oh well. I guess I'll eat all this popcorn myself. Eventually.

Helpmate....I din't read the thread really, but I'm going to comment. Is that rude? And was that a rhetorical question?
If God created Eve to be Adam's helpmeet (and we all know that He did), then she would fulfill her role by taking up his slack, no? I think yes.
What, then, would be a legitimate reason that he should ever dislike that?
Thanks, but the only asinine doctrine is this exaltation and prioritization of marriage. It's just not for everyone. As long as not every man is good material for leadership position, not is everyone good material for husband. Just because it was for everyone in the 50s and 60s doesn't mean that's the historical norm. You have already lost the argument. And by the way, I think you are a great person. A follower of Jesus Christ.
So please stop with the Luciferian doctrine. Men, as myself, who follow Jesus Christ, do not treat their women as servants.
When my daughters marry, then their husbands will respect them. And I am here to ensure that happens. It is my job to protect them. And, I will protect you, too. From this asinine doctrine that you have been taught.
Follow Jesus Christ. Be an example for your wife and children in the role that you have accepted. We are servants of Jesus Christ and our families. Not to be constrained by the false claim that Jesus was a coward influenced by egalitarianism, completmentarianism, or whatever other modern invention the snakes come up with.
Lovette, you are better than this. Jesus is not a coward, nor are his servants.

Except it has been the historical norm across the world. Men get married to women and start families is the norm and the ideal. Find me a civilization in history where that was different and then see how long that civilization lasted after that. Now plenty of societies have had polygamy or embraced prostitution alongside marriage so the Christian teaching that God intends sex to be within a marriage of one man to one woman only isn't nearly so universal (especially when it comes to men's sexual behavior), but even societies with no historical christian influence have managed to setup some sort of marriage. And in societies like ours where actual marriage is declining, there are plenty of people who pair up, shack up, and play at being married until it becomes inconvenient and then they bail. Thanks, but the only asinine doctrine is this exaltation and prioritization of marriage. Ok putting my Bible nerd hat on for a minute:
We came up with this ridiculous modern word helpmeet which means little to anyone but mostly we use it to make it sound like the woman is an assistant to the man. And we got it most likely from those kjv above all types as KJV (and older translations) say in Genesis 2 " an help meet for him" but the interesting thing about the word translated help meet (and it is just one word more on the help side than that meet side) is, if you do a quick look through a good lexicon and concordance, pretty much every other time that word is used in the Bible it's used of God and not just used of God but used in situations or prayers where if God wasn't your "help" you would be conquered, defeated, overcome.
So a correct interpretation of the woman created to help the man idea in Genesis 2 isn't that she's there to assist the man in accomplishing whatever vision he's trying to accomplish. It's more she's there to fight alongside him and add her emotional strength to him when the world tries to conquer or take him out. She's to be the one who's got his back and gives him hope. Just like God is there as a help to his people when their enemies attack them.
You keep arguing against nobody. Thanks, but the only asinine doctrine is this exaltation and prioritization of marriage. It's just not for everyone. It comes down to generational differences anymore.
Women have been graduating from Tertiary educations while men barely finish secondary education.
There's been a huge price though...
Most women are uninterested in having a family, spouse, or children. Meaning that our entire culture will be extinct before too much longer without anyone able to do the needed young people jobs.
Fertility rates are in the dirt EXCEPT for the highly conservative areas of the country. But the big cities? They will starve for a lack of kids to restock grocery store shelves way before then.
Well, I’m marrying him this summer. But truth be told, I’m perfectly capable of protecting my family myself lol.So you expect to.marry superman?
GLTY.
(Good Luck To You).
Less than 1% of the population of men will fit the classification.
Completely insufficient to meet birth requirements.
The future looks bleak...
Dont get too big for your britches lol.I'll put on my big boy pantslol
I think we can let AI tell us what that looks like.I'm kind of wanting to know what a Bible nerd hat looks like.
I asked AI what word is originally used for 'help meet' in the bible.
The answer is in Hebrew: "Ezer Kenegdo"
Ezer means strength, aid or rescuer.
Kenegdo means equal, matching.
(Cinder is correct)
Pssssttt.Cinder is always correct. Not because cinder is always right but because cinder doesn't want to look like a stupid idiot so she checks to make sure she has her facts straight before she posts. If I'm wrong the post doesn't get made. But good on you for checking up on what I said because I'd rather people confirm what the Bible says than just take my word for it. Some day I will (most likely) be wrong and when that day comes everyone is better off siding with God than with me.
Oh I wasn't checking up on what you said. I just asked AI because I used to listen to a pastor that always brings up the original hebrew words and their meaning when she's talking about scripture and I thought it would be interesting to see what the words for help meet were... Then I realized it lined up with what you said.Cinder is always correct.
