I din't read the thread really, but I'm going to comment. Is that rude? And was that a rhetorical question?
If God created Eve to be Adam's helpmeet (and we all know that He did), then she would fulfill her role by taking up his slack, no? I think yes.
What, then, would be a legitimate reason that he should ever dislike that?
Helpmate....
To help where man is weak...
Same word used for "God who helps me".

A symbiotic relationship is formed....like a remorah and a shark.....the shark doesn't eat that fish but it will even clean the shark's teeth. Symbiotic relationship.

Man and wife in a symbiotic relationship with Earth, each other, and God.

The money?
Who cares except for those who think money is a better god.

I need a woman to take up my slack

Ok putting my Bible nerd hat on for a minute:

We came up with this ridiculous modern word helpmeet which means little to anyone but mostly we use it to make it sound like the woman is an assistant to the man. And we got it most likely from those kjv above all types as KJV (and older translations) say in Genesis 2 " an help meet for him" but the interesting thing about the word translated help meet (and it is just one word more on the help side than that meet side) is, if you do a quick look through a good lexicon and concordance, pretty much every other time that word is used in the Bible it's used of God and not just used of God but used in situations or prayers where if God wasn't your "help" you would be conquered, defeated, overcome.

So a correct interpretation of the woman created to help the man idea in Genesis 2 isn't that she's there to assist the man in accomplishing whatever vision he's trying to accomplish. It's more she's there to fight alongside him and add her emotional strength to him when the world tries to conquer or take him out. She's to be the one who's got his back and gives him hope. Just like God is there as a help to his people when their enemies attack them.

You have already lost the argument. And by the way, I think you are a great person. A follower of Jesus Christ.

So please stop with the Luciferian doctrine. Men, as myself, who follow Jesus Christ, do not treat their women as servants.
When my daughters marry, then their husbands will respect them. And I am here to ensure that happens. It is my job to protect them. And, I will protect you, too. From this asinine doctrine that you have been taught.

Follow Jesus Christ. Be an example for your wife and children in the role that you have accepted. We are servants of Jesus Christ and our families. Not to be constrained by the false claim that Jesus was a coward influenced by egalitarianism, completmentarianism, or whatever other modern invention the snakes come up with.

Lovette, you are better than this. Jesus is not a coward, nor are his servants.
Thanks, but the only asinine doctrine is this exaltation and prioritization of marriage. It's just not for everyone. As long as not every man is good material for leadership position, not is everyone good material for husband. Just because it was for everyone in the 50s and 60s doesn't mean that's the historical norm.

Correct, marriage is not for everyone. But most men and women want to form that family unit and have children. So for them, there are some simple ground rules.

1) both the man and woman follow Jesus Christ
2) the man fulfill his role of responsibility
3) the woman help the man

How the man fulfills his role, and the woman helps, is theirs to decide. Traditionally (50s and 60s), it was the man working and the woman at home with the children. But historically, the entire family was working in the fields, mines, etc.

Therefore, marriage is exalted and prioritized because it is the foundation of the family unit. And since it is the foundation of the family unit then it is the foundation of the kingdom of God. Such is the case that Jesus' bride is the church, and the foundation of the church is the family, and the foundation of the family is the marriage between man and woman. Therefore, marriage is the foundation of the kingdom of God.

Except it has been the historical norm across the world. Men get married to women and start families is the norm and the ideal. Find me a civilization in history where that was different and then see how long that civilization lasted after that. Now plenty of societies have had polygamy or embraced prostitution alongside marriage so the Christian teaching that God intends sex to be within a marriage of one man to one woman only isn't nearly so universal (especially when it comes to men's sexual behavior), but even societies with no historical christian influence have managed to setup some sort of marriage. And in societies like ours where actual marriage is declining, there are plenty of people who pair up, shack up, and play at being married until it becomes inconvenient and then they bail.

Also no man starts out as a good husband and leader, that's something they have to learn and work at and usually their motivation to better themselves is at least in part due to wanting to get a higher quality woman to be their mate. Because women like the security that a higher status mate represents (and so there is a problem if our society becomes such that most women are higher status than most men).

Very few people seem to know what you posted above, but it's ridiculously important.

The Hebrew word for servant or assistant was "ebed". God did not use that word to describe wives. He used the FAR more powerful word "ezer", which is more accurately translated "rescuer/defender/allied force". The Bible ONLY uses this word to describe the "help" of God, military allies..... and wives.

The word "ezer" was translated "helpmeet", which many nterpret as "mindless servant who does everything the husband doesn't want to do". But just think of how much better and stronger marriages would be if we all realized what the Bible is actually saying.

You keep arguing against nobody.

Nobody is claiming that marriage is for everybody. But somebody here is assuming that everybody is claiming that. Anybody could say that nobody is claiming that marriage is for everybody. But somebody won't listen.

It's almost like you need to convince yourself, not us...

It comes down to generational differences anymore.

Women have been graduating from Tertiary educations while men barely finish secondary education.

There's been a huge price though...

Most women are uninterested in having a family, spouse, or children. Meaning that our entire culture will be extinct before too much longer without anyone able to do the needed young people jobs.

Fertility rates are in the dirt EXCEPT for the highly conservative areas of the country. But the big cities? They will starve for a lack of kids to restock grocery store shelves way before then.

I feel you. If I were you, I kind of am, I'd be open to dating women outside of the country. There are countries with women that are more family oriented. I don't like stereotyping but your more likely to find family minded women in Asian or Hispanican countries.

As for the culture thing being destroyed, I like culture but it's not a religion to me. There are people who are called Nationalists and are extremely concerned for keeping "American culture" alive. I think it's a lot more important keeping America Christian.

Nationalism is a soft far right. Christianity and the constitution... that's where it's at

The Holy Spirit is 'helper' and also 'comforter'

No shade.

Also wisdom is personified in the Bible as female. Check out Proverbs. People tend to think King Solomon authored the book of Proverbs but I suspect it was really his mother who taught him.

Jewish lineage is always passed down through the mother. Even Mary was sort of teaching her child from the womb (check out the Magnificat). Jesus grew in grace and wisdom...and at age 12 was teaching in the temple. Where did He get that from? I reckon it was from his Mum. Note that Joseph wasn't treasuring all the wisdom in his heart. Only Mary.

And well, what about female intuition?

Wisdom is a treasure. It's higher than a cost of a ruby. It's a pearl of great price. You would give your life to have her.

I asked AI what word is originally used for 'help meet' in the bible.
The answer is in Hebrew: "Ezer Kenegdo"

Ezer
means strength, aid or rescuer.
Kenegdo means equal, matching.

(Cinder is correct)

AI's answer:
In the original Hebrew, "helpmeet" translates to the phrase 'ezer kenegdo (עֵזֶר כְּנֶגְדּוֹ) found in Genesis 2:18 .
  • 'Ezer (עֵזֶר) means strength, aid, or rescuer.
  • Kenegdo (כְּנֶגְדּוֹ) means corresponding to, matching, or standing face-to-face as an equal. [3, 5, 6, 7]
Modern Bible versions translate this as a "helper suitable". [2, 8]

The term "'ezer" occurs 21 times in the Old Testament in three distinct contexts :
  • For the woman (Eve): Genesis 2:18 and Genesis 2:20 .
  • For God Himself: Used 16 times in the Psalms (e.g., Psalm 121:1) to describe the Lord as a mighty deliverer or source of rescue.
  • For nations: Used 3 times (e.g., Isaiah 30:5) to describe military or political allies . [7, 10, 11, 12, 13]
Because "'ezer" is heavily used to describe divine rescue, the original Hebrew implies a powerful, life-saving counterpart rather than a subordinate assistant. The word "kenegdo" solidifies that she is a strength that directly corresponds and matches the man. [5, 14, 15]

Cinder is always correct. Not because cinder is always right but because cinder doesn't want to look like a stupid idiot so she checks to make sure she has her facts straight before she posts. If I'm wrong the post doesn't get made. But good on you for checking up on what I said because I'd rather people confirm what the Bible says than just take my word for it. Some day I will (most likely) be wrong and when that day comes everyone is better off siding with God than with me.

Pssssttt.
The object of the exercise is to not actually hand out information but to get others to look for it themselves....
Because then they have better retention rates and involve their ego in what "they" learned....which you basically manipulated them into learning to begin with....

But all this is secret knowledge stuff.

Don't tell nobody.
Ssshhhhhhh....

Oh I wasn't checking up on what you said. I just asked AI because I used to listen to a pastor that always brings up the original hebrew words and their meaning when she's talking about scripture and I thought it would be interesting to see what the words for help meet were... Then I realized it lined up with what you said. 🤓
