I absolutely love cats, so thought I'd make this thread to declare it lol.

Taking a bit of inspiration from Seoulsearch's threads here, it's a good thing making these posts to have a laugh, get to know each other and find that we have a lot of common ground.

Anyway, cats are my favourite animal. As in pet cats, but I love all cats and animals in general.

My best friend (other than my human best friend) growing up was my pet cat Susie, we were inseparable and I loved her to bits and still think about and miss her every so often. She passed away when I was 16, I'm 35 now.

Susie was a gift from God, no doubt in my mind.

I'm sure some people think i sound sad and pathetic but I couldn't care less, those of you who know the bonds we can have with pets will understand what I'm saying.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of Susie right now but here's a funny cat pic.

I voted "Other" because right now my favorite pets are stuffed. 🧸

I have a soft spot for sweet, friendly cats -- but I'm allergic, and I really don't want to have to flood my body with drugs just to have them.

I also wouldn't want to get just one because I wouldn't want him/her to get lonely, so I'd preferably adopt a bonded pair -- but that of course means twice the cost and twice the work right off the bat.

I've also known many pet owners who have spent as much on their pets as a child, and I just don't have that kind of money to spare, so I have instead been looking for someone with a cat whom I could make my "godkitty."

Just like a godparent with a godchild, I could hopefully occasionally visit to spoil said godkitty with treats and toys.

I understand loving cats. My best friend is a huge lover of cats. She wants the ashes of her cats to be mingled with hers when she passes away.
I don't currently have any pets, but I had a cat that adopted me years ago. For a year or two, I had lived in an apartment downtown and on warm nights I'd leave my bedroom window open at night. This was too far up for a burglar to have climbed up to, btw. Anyway there was a cat that would enter through the window and curl up next to me. I kinda think someone in the complex had passed away and she was left without anyone, as she was fixed and well taken care of. I took her in and named her Nermal. She was my last pet, except for a few fish here and there.

I currently live on the edge of the country and I have resident critters in the yard that are my current "pets." I feed them and even name them lol.

Note to self: If I ever slip up and get drunk again, don't go online. 🤣😖

A multiple choice would of made more sense. oh well.

From what I hear, you should now drink lots and lots of water. Like, more than you think you should drink.

I heard that from my father though, but he ought to know because he used to do it a lot back in his late teenage years.

Some of the things people have for their cats like the indoor play area type thing that can take up to half a living room or more are definitely pricey.
The cats seem to love it though but don't agree with keeping cats indoor 24/7, but each to their own and I don't live in a country with predators floating about residential areas.

As for pets, I like them all to be outside. Indoor pets get their smell and hair everywhere. No matter how much you think you keep them clean, they get all over the house. If I visit somebody's house and they have indoor pets, it's pretty obvious.

And that's coming from a guy who grew up with indoor cats all his formative years. I used to sleep with a cat purring on my stomach. But I still prefer pets to be definitely outdoors.

Mind you, I won't wrinkle up my nose if I visit you and you have a dog or cat. I'll probably scratch behind his ears and make his tail wag or make him purr. But for my house, outside only pets.

That sounds like the best bond that anyone could have with cats in particular when they choose to adopt you. Sounds awesome, hope that happens to me what I've moved away from here and settled. 😀

What kind of critters do you get there? Living in the country sounds so much better than in a town or city.

That's one reason i probably wouldn't ever get a dog, even though some of them are great and that make excellent pets and companions, the smell seems to stick around.

That's another bonus about cats, they can be outside much of the time and are more independent.

Strictly speaking of indoor pets, cats are much better than dogs. Most of the time. You don't have to let them out to do their business at any and all hours of the day, a well-adjusted cat is not needy and always hanging on your heels, and you can dump a week of food in their bowl and they will eat it over the course of a week, unlike a dog who will eat a week's food in about an hour and a half.

The only two problems with indoor cats are, you may think you are keeping them off the table and counter but you're not. And sometimes two argumentative cats will get in a pissing match, literally.

I grew up in the country and missed it terribly when I moved into town. Now I live within the city limits, but on the edge of the country. I actually see more wildlife where I'm at now than I did in the country. Here I get to enjoy raccoons, opossums, skunk, fox, and my favorite: woodchucks. I also like the little critters that are in the yard: skinks, toads, crayfish, tree frogs, the occasional turtle, and I've spotted 7 different types of snakes. I get to do a fair amount of birdwatching without even leaving the yard: pileated woodpeckers and other woodpeckers, Mississippi kites, turkey vultures (several visited my yard this past spring), cuckoos, the occasional Baltimore oriole and indigo buntings, many other songbirds, and I've even seen bald eagles soaring over the yard. At night, I hear owls and coyotes.
To me, there is nothing like being close to creation.

Crayfish... There must be water under your land.

You know what a crayfish is? That's a lobster after taxes.

Yes, I live near a river. There's a network of them under the yard. On the edge of the country, we have ditches instead of curbs. When it rains I see them getting around in the ditch. Loved playing with them as a child.

Play?

Back when my daddy was a kid, that was a snack! You had to catch your own snacks back then.

They are definitely tasty. I've eaten plenty of crayfish. But as a kid I liked to keep them as pets. I let them clamp onto my finger and dangle off lol.

I don't mind other people's pets, as they are not mine. Actually I prefer that. I don't have pets and if pets have to be had, they can be someone else's.

The animals I like I keep in the freezer till I'm ready to enjoy their company. 🙂

The difference between a dog and a cat is

A cat owns you and a dog loves you.
