Do you have older friends? Were talkin 40s and up

Whats it like ? Or would you like to but cant get past the idea thats hindering you "I have to have friends my own age"?
I once heard in church from a preacher "dont settle for making friends your own age" theres no pressure but once you make the 'big decision' to make older friends its so worth it church is a great place for that. I found out the lord used them for both me and them to speak into their lives and sometimes with one friend in particular they were looking for friends. They definitely are wiser and well no offence less selfish, patient and faithful and yeh its healthy to have young friends too I have young friends with my young friends we have so much fun and laughs but its interesting and cool to see the Lord provide older friends once you accept the idea "yes I can have older friends"
Are you like me and Abby who are apart of a support/life group with 50s and 70s (mine has some in their 30s too)?
Share some positive experiences youve had with your older friends .

I get along better with older women. At church, I usually feel more comfortable talking to women my mom's age (49) or older. But then again, there aren't very many 20 somethings at church to begin with.

I do have many friends at school but those are usually younger than me or my age.
 
Im not being racist but theres probably one white married young adult woman amoungst the youth although Im too old for youth gruoup so for me I've had friends from different cultures my whole life but its kinda a draw back that theres only one white chick there its been like that for a while.
 
how do you spell amoung or is it amoungst no wait is it.... ahhh question for the older folk :D
 
I'm always pretty comfortable talking to people older then myself. They are always cool. I know and work with great people that are twice/three times my age. As for being BEST friends, frankly no (Interests are not the same.) But I do consider them as friends.

Yes I do! In fact lots of them! Lol. I have friends my age too, and a few teens. My grandmother (father's side) lived with my family for many years, she taught me how to like veggies. Lol. I loved her. Sad she had to go away early. So did my grandfather. I met my grannies (mother's side) when I was like 10 and the first they saw me and my sister, they cried all day. Only the two of them lived in their big empty house so they were so happy to meet us. They always fed me good stuff, lots of sugar lol. They left the world early too.

I guess there's another thing that I like with older people, they appreciate the little things. :) So much wisdom in that.
 
Yup! Oldest are 82 and 84, I have the best conversations with them, just wish the 82 year old gentleman would stop flirting and trying to buy me a car, being nice can often be translated to gold digging tendencies :/
 
Some of my closest friends are from church who are in their 40's and 50's... LOTS of wisdom from them. It's kinda sad I don't very well get along with people my own age.. Maybe I'm too mature for them...:confused:
 
I have a friend about the same age as my parents (he's the one I traveled about the UK with)
The rest of my friends are mostly about my age
- Apart from my CC friends, which are a nice mix :D

Try to remember that such action is usually not done to impress you, but to reassure themselves. This is one of those places we are asked to extend some grace to less-than-perfect people..... Ya know, people just like us.
 
I enjoy being around people my age, but I feel more free talking to people who are over 40...some of my dearest friends are teens like me, but many are older. Our neighbors are a married farming couple and he's nearly 70 (his wife is some years younger) I could tell them basically anything and expect help if I needed it. They're almost like an aunt and uncle than merely friends or neighbors. In fact, they're more like extended family than much of my extended family is!

Yes they are a wealth of wisdom and almost 3 times older than me lol......it's actually fun to hang out with them as opposed to people my age....I find most of them (my age) pretty boring....but the older people you get to talk about life experiences and important things not the latest dumb movie that has no bearing/constructive input on my future decisions in life.
