Shout out to Christian radio in your area... I have not listened to secular music since I have been saved and I thank G-d for my 2 local stations that play my christian music... 104 The River, (worship music)and my favorit 88.7 Radio U (everything, even my metal)....

I will always be in love with my 70's and 80's metal... fond memories....

Do you listen to secular, Christian or both forms of music?

I listen to both, the only genre I really don’t like is rap. I find it vulgar and disgusting.

I'm glad someone brought that up. When I was in my 20's some of the songs we, of the 'I found it movment(born again hippies) realized some rock songs were really christian songs in disguise like Signs, Jesus Christ superstar and many others that witnessed to people and made us curious about the Lord.

The one that really flew beneath the radar was "Rainy day women" by Bob Dylan, picture Jesus sitting in the temple, writing or drawing something on the floor. A group of angry men come in with a woman accused of adultery, they want to stone her, after a brief chat Jesus responds, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." (My hero!) That was the scene he was thinking of when he penned "They'll stone you when your tryin' to be so good, they'll stone you just like they said they would. They'll stone you when your tryin' to go home then they'll stone you when your there all alone. I would not feel so all alone. Everybody must get stoned." We got it, but most didn't. Bob is laughing as he sings, plays the piano and harmonica (at the same time) realizing the irony that most people would think it was about getting loaded when really it was about how everybody gets persecuted in life. We would sing and laugh right along, while holding services in a park or on the beach. I drew crowds and witnessed to people.

General Booth (founder of the salvation army) once asked something like "Why does the Devil get all the good music?" and he changed the words to many of the popular drinking songs of the era, they are old hymms. just a little trivia for ya. Cee ya! Calibob

I listen to music as long as it is not promoting sin and it is not disrespectful to God... I just listen to the lyrics to find that out..

Mostly Christian, but not CCM or whatever other mainstream... music is played. Never the radio.

With over 3000 albums I have everything from secular and/or Christian metal, rap, punk, hardcore, industrial, Rockabilly, swing and more.
Also more rare things such as metal drumming over classical music or Pat Boone covering rock/metal songs lounge style.
Movie scores. Post Modern Jukebox. 50s rock. Old crooners. Lindsey Stirling. And more.
Things you won't see me with, 99.9% of all country or bluegrass. 99.9% of anything opera. Only a very small number of mainstream pop songs (you can count them on one hand and none are recent).

My Heart Will Go On
Celine Dion
Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone
Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold to
In my life we'll always go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more…

A lot of christian artists tend to approach various styles rather tamely and aren't very progressive in their instrumentality, so I stick with secular stuff.

To expand on my first comment, how many here are familiar with:

Three Wooden Crosses ......... Randy Travis
Believe ...... Brooks and Dunn
Why Me Lord ....... Kris Kristofferson
God Must Be A Cowboy at Heart ...... Dan Seals
The Man I Want to Be ....... Chris Young
Three Nails and a Cross ....... George Strait
Shelter Me ........ Tab Benoit

and many, many, many more......... One could build a huge play list of inspiring, spirit touching songs from secular Artists.

Alan Jackson has an entire Album of Gospel Songs, and so do various other Artists.

(just saying)

Have you listened to any of the songs? And paid attention to the lyrics/message they contain?

Hard to pick just one to give an example, because I love all of them and their message....... Check them our on Youtube and see for yourself........ As for the genera, Country style is Secular, right? :)

One of them that few people know is Conway Twitty's "Who Do They Think He Was?"

"Who Did They Think He Was"

A child was born in Tupelo
In 1935
I'm grateful for his music
It forever changed my life.

Oh, I loved, love me tender
And how that boy could sing
But when he died I wondered why
Millions called him King.

Tell me, who did they think
Who did they think He was?
Who did they think
Who did they think He was?

The whole world bowed and prayed
But it only made me say
Who did they think
Who did they think He was?

He was born in Massachussetts
In 1917
The second son of an Irishman
Oh, we all loved Kennedy.

He was brave and strong and handsome
A helluva a president
But when he died
Millions cried like he was heaven sent.

Tell me who did they think
Who did they think He was?
Who did they think
Who did they think he was?

The whole world bowed and prayed
But it only made me say
Who did they think
Who did they think He was?

There was a child of heaven
Born in Bethlehem
Just a simple carpenter
With worn and callused hands.

Oh, he healed the heart of many
So they nailed him to a tree
With no one left to mourn his death
But the women at his feet.

Crying, Who did they think
Who did they think He was
Who did they think
Who did they think He was?

There was no one left to grieve
But the women at his feet
Crying, who did they think
Who did they think He was?

Who did they think
Who did they think He was?...

IMO, that's a powerful message, and certainly worthy of being listened to by believers.......
