can we try this again?

why dont you explain what is the difference between the Spirit and the letter since you teach so heavily on this matter? because the Spirit and the letter can be a very vague term.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Hizikyah again.

I know that I would REALLY like to see some exegesis on this.

I think it would overwhelm anhyone to read a list of peopl in the Old Testaemen who were led by the Holy Spirit, and they all studied the Word, either by reading or from the preaching of the prophets and priests.

Now, you are fatally in error if you believe anyone who loves the law is a legalist. I believe legalists are those who blindly interpret the law as being all of w hat Moses wrote down. Many of them are trumped by grace. If you were to learn the enitre Word of God from Genesis, you would already be aware of this by the Holy Spirit.

Keep in mind the great apostasy began as soon as our Lord ascended to His throne.

It seems the grace touters who believe the law is evil are the most legalistic individuals who come into this forum.

No one, not a one, except our blessed Salvation, ever was able to abide by, that is live by the Law alone, and this is way we need Jesus Christ, for the Law in its inherent from God wisdom, points to Jesus Christ, as He, Himself, teache you, me and all who hear Him.

Believe Jesus Christ, and worship Him in spirit and truth and do not look for excuses other than His Blood for your errors. He loves you, I love you, and I believe all here love you, so do not be terrified of being obedietnt. Jesus completes the law, but, as He teaches, He did not abolish any of the laws, and anyone who teaches against the least of them will be leasst in the Kingdom. Yes you live in grace, but that is no excuse to sin on purpos. Sin is breaking the law. Think aoubt that.

God bless you.

1 John 5:2-3 (ESV), By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. "

1 John 2 (NASB)
"1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.
4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:
6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
7 Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard.
8 On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.
9 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now.
10 The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake. 13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. 14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one."

The mistake made by many is to not fully understand this. Except for accounts of the time of the Mission of our Savior and of the varied congregations shortly after His Resurrection and Ascent to His Glory, all of the teaching of the New Testament are in the Old Testament. These names are taken from words employed in both compilations.

Abraham is the first to know the Gospel and of the Gate his descendants were to possess. Grace is spoken of being fresh daily, that is the grace of God. All was given to other than the first Israel through Jesus Christ.

Now all mankind is joined with Israel, spiritually, for eternity when they choose Jesus Christ.

I know those who do not yet realize their faith is the faith of Abrahame will balk at this, but they are either still not in the know, or just anti-Jew.

I am of the faith of Abraham and very proud of my Father in heaven for making me such. Blessed be our Salvation, Jesus Christ, amen.

PS, Taking the New Testament as all of teh Holy Scriptures is having it backwards, and totally missing the p,oint, though I am certain there are millions who believe who only read the Nt because the Holy Spirit gueds them through. These latter do not balk at those who read all of the Word for they understand implicitely by the Holy Spirit.

JaumeJ,

we also LOVE the OT along with the NT -
it is interesting that Jesus Christ used the OT scriptures when He
was battling satan.

like it is written,
The Word is settled in heaven forever, Thy Word is Truth',
For The Word is quick and powerful and sharper that any two-edged sword'...

No matter of scripture is of one0s own intrpretation, for the letter does indeed kill, however, as I have mentione before in this thread, and so others, we are led by the Holy Spirit when we read because we have received the Hoy Spirit. It is not of love to accuse others who are not afraid of the law of being led only by the written text. This is untrue, a lie. You are very close to much, but the tolerance of the brethren is not demonstrated by your words. Now the word legalist is employed in the Word, in the Epistles, but using the law lawfully is a totally different occurance among those who have come to Jesus Christ in spirit and truth. I am one of those, and I do not hold anything against anyone who does not yet understand that the commandments of God are not just in the NT, and they are not dead. The all hang on the great laws of love. After receiving the Holy Spirit we no longer need learn about loving others, we know in our hearts to do so, and it has become our nature. No one can say to Jesus Christ that the commandments He dictated and followed when in the flesh are abolishe. He teaches the contrary, and they fit quite righttly in Love, for they come naturl¡al to our new nature. It is not pleasant for me to feel obliged to have to pass this on to someone who has named Jesus Christ as Salvation, but here am I doing just that. God bless you always in Jesus Christ...

"The letter kills but the Spirit gives life". Legalism brings death to a believer ; Love in the Spirit brings life and joy into a believers life . Love brings life to those around a believer ; legalism makes others miserable. Look at the faces of these legalist and what do you see? You see death! Look at the faces of those who walk in love and what do you see? You see life!

What? are you for real? We grow in love as we grow in grace...and if telling some legalist the same thing the bible clearly tells them, is not love to you? Then you still have a lot to learn about love. We are perfected through love...God is love and the more we know love the more we know God.

Lets start here and see if you believe the bible? Then I can see if you are able to hear the truth...

Ro 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 ¶ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

lol

so still not explanation of what you think "newness of spirit" and what you think the "oldness of the letter" is...

Well i have to log off, I am curious to hear what you think, rather than just using a vague term, that is true, but that can be viewed in many different ways, only one of them being true...

This may sound silly for someone my age, but I would love to go to way down South Florida, below Tampa, to some of the beaches there. They are suppose to have great places to find all sorts of seashells and such............Man my age hunting seashells may seem silly, but that's ok with me! :)

But that is the Gulf side............guess the Atlantic side has some shells too......

Its a biblical term...I bet its vague to you ? :) So do you accept this scripture as true? What do you think it means to be delivered from the law? and the letter of the law? Just want to see where your at and what you really believe?

We do not teach thou shalt not steal as the fulfillment if the law; we teach that we should love as Christ has loved us and we are called to give not take! We are called to teach love; not self righteousness through the law. This should be evident to any honest believer who has read the New Testament.
Here is the difference between the "letter" and the Spirit ...Hiz...can you see it?

My sentiments exactly. I have the same tendency, that is to repost all the posts that haee been ignored or the point missed completely. There comes a time when one must choose to tignore such people, but for now, not. God bless you H.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Hizikyah again.

THe letter is something written on stones or paper....The Spirit is the Spirit of God that indwells the true believer.... Does that help you guys? :)

2Co 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

2Co 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done

Question, what was it that made the stones a ministration of death?

Gods law is Spiritual its the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. Its not found in the "letter" its not kept through the written code its kept through walking in life and love that flows from the Spirit of grace. The old written code was only a shadow of the Spirit that has been given to those who have believed. The old written code was a legal standard that brought judgment unto death. We have been delivered from that judgment by the judgment that was put upon Christ at His Cross. LIFE and love are the commandments of God. That's Gods law! Do you really live and love the Law of God?

God Law is Good, spiritual, & Perfect 'psalm 19:7', all beliver in Jesus Christ should love it.

Psalm 37:30-31

The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

If we do not love it how can we claim to walk with Him ???

1 John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

God bless
