The scam abound online....
From sex trafficking to identity theft, to catfishing and extortion.

It's a scary place anymore.

There's a real problem dealing with strangers anymore....you don't know WHO you are really talking to or what the relationship will result in.

Fish in vetted waters....get background checks before talking to anyone.

what is catfishing again
I heard of it but not sure exactly what it is. Is it the same as trolling or phishing?

I dont know what if anyones really teaching cyber-safety anymore.
e-commerce is also a bit of a caveat emptor.

Jesus said to his disciples I will make you fishers of men.

If you know anything about fishing, I would say you have to know where the fish are and when they will be feeding. Then you have to sort them by age and size. and look at how healthy they are if you casting a wide net.
But sad thing is fish stocks are depleting now the world is over-fished with commercial trawlers and being increasingly polluted with all the plastics humans are throwing in the ocean. Not to mention nuclear waste, oil spills, etc.

oh wait are we talking bout fishing?

I think that the topic was catfishing. I never went catfishing but have eaten catfish more than once. Very tender fillets, good with tartar sauce and lemon wedges. Yeah, hush puppies too and fries. Cole slaw. Probably unsweetened iced tea or lemonade for a beverage. Good eating for sure.

is it mostly in the South of america?
I heard there was soul food there.
I was thinking now travel restrictions are over and Im not tied to a job maybe heading to the states to explore but I dont know yet. See where He leads me. I thought there would be work to do here but places arent hiring and trying to cut costs and working conditions arent great. Maybe its better to be free in Christ rather than trying to land a husband or permanent job or whatver. So many people are struggling to try and build their own kingdoms arent they.

If I were looking, it would not be online. Too many frauds these days. You can’t even trust the photo as there are filters to make a 50 year old look like they are 25.

But assuming it could be safe and honest, sure I might try an online service, assuming there could be in-person dating as well.

There's a lot of responsibility and obligation there. Talk to a man from the USA who has married into Philippines before you take the leap.

I never do anything without being thoroughly educated.
Then you would not have said that about women in the Philippines being brought up to appreciate a good man. :sneaky:

I mean... They ARE, but the qualifications for a "good man" are a lot higher than here in the states. Quite a lot higher. It ain't a cakewalk, just strolling in and claiming a good devoted wife.

My response to that is you really don't actually know much about the Philippines or the people there. What women value there compared to what women in the west value are very different.

There's a big difference in the way the typical filipina treats her man compared to the way the typical western woman treats hers.

I have watched many, many videos of expats about the good, the bad and the ugly of the Philippines and there's a clear difference. Many men retire to the Philippines because it's cheaper to live there. A lot of these men have very little money and have no difficulty finding a young attractive Filipina to shack up with or marry.

While the prospect of finding and marrying a younger women is intriguing. I have no desire to leave the US to do it.

The philippines is a Catholic country and many worship the Pope, while a lot of women walk in Imelda Marcos shoes. Just warning you.
Test every spirit.

Yes they are a predominantly Catholic country but like most Catholics they aren't practicing. There are also many Christian churches there, and even Muslims which are allowed to govern themselves with sharia law and can have multiple wives, but that only applies to Muslims.

And don't get me started on women and their shoes.

For me that is true because in my case I can't live comfortably there cheaper than I can live here. I saw hard times coming for me and I prepared for it. I now have no debt, and pay no rent because I own my home free and clear and on top of that I live in a cheaper area so I'm able to live below the poverty line. I'm not happy with my situation but it is what it is.

For others I can see the benefits out way the negatives. For what most people pay just in rent here in the US you could live well in the Philippines. Some of the negatives are the heat, humidity and the lack of a safety net. For anyone from the south the heat & humidity is not so much of an issue but if an expat becomes destitute the Philippine government won't help you. If you are American the embassy will send you back to the US but you still would need someone there that will help you get back on your feet.

My brother, who lives in Florida, married a woman from the Philippines, that he met online in 1997. Still happily married and their son just graduated from college with an engineering degree. She is a very good wife for my brother.

I wanna say thank you for your observations...but I would like to correct you about this sir....yeah that's quite true but not all you know....

I think it is not good to say women on this country is better than this country especially if it is coming from my fellow countryman. I don't know but it is quite offending for me ☺️

No it doesn't go against waiting on the Lord so far the emotions are guided by God .
Online dating can be one be one of the platforms to meet persons who might not settle with you at the end but can be a lifetime christian friends who can be helpful in achieving your other dreams other than marriage
