Do Christians believe that disease and sickness of mind, body and spirit all comes from the devil? If so, I would like to look at biblical references and evidence. Jesus did spend a lot of his ministry relieving people of evil spirits to cure afflictions. However, like in the case of leprosy, he didn't refer to this directly. In those cases he implied that faith was vital.

Modern medicine works on physical and chemical causes of illness. It is sensible and essential therefore to take proper medical advice and treatment. Yet prayer too is needed. Could it be that spiritual and mental sickness and imbalance is where prayer is most important, along with whatever modern medicine offers?
Any insights supported by Bible references most appreciated.

it is more correct to think all human woes began when we fell and were expelled from the Garden of delight. The word sin and death are the same.

When the Kingdom is fully come, there will be no sickness. The miracles we have now are a foretaste of the age to come.

Yes and No. The Bible is quite clear that the devil or demons are responsible for some sicknesses and diseases. At the same time, after the fall, the entire universe went into the bondage of corruption. In practical terms God created many different bacteria and viruses, and they do cause disease. Then we have the contaminated foods which can lead to cancers. And yes, one can fight sickness and disease through prayer as well as medications.

the best scripture I could show you why you should go to the doctor's is because Luke the apostle was a doctor did you know ?.
Colossians 4:14
14 Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings.

Where ever sickness and disease comes from there is valid arguments for many opinions,

My understanding of becoming sick would be not listening to the commands of God to be clean,

Scriptures tells us there many doctors in the bible using oils and plants for medicine.

There also other Christians believe every sickness and disease can upon you in the bible if you disrespect God's teachings and don't believe his word.

There's also the plagues God sent to people.

Of course there's poisons that get missused too.

Then there's natural causes of death,

I don't think we can fit all diseases and put them into one little box

A nice guy here said that disease originated from the fall of man, and that some of the chemicals that cause the diseases are from the sinful actions of humans, such as polluting gases emitted into the atmosphere and stuff we mine from the earth. Other diseases are caused by genetic mutations, which the guy said did not happen before the fall of man.

As an Old-Earth Creationist, I believe him, but also believe dinosaurs had diseases as well. I made a post about dinosaur cancer somewhere on CF, so maybe the fall of man some thousands of years ago not only ruined the present, but also caused chaos before humans, a sort of retrocausality. If Adam & Eve did not sin, the past and present would be perfect. But, since Adam & Eve sinned, the sin rewrote pre-Adamic history (including history millions of years before humans), but the true history of the perfect pre-Adamic world is known only to God and in our Bibles.

We are body, soul and spirit. These all operate according to a combination of physical, psychological and spiritual laws. If we break those laws, sickness and diseases of the body, mind and spirit can result. So, it is simplistic to attribute the cause of sickness to one factor, namely demons. There are physical and natural causes, psychological causes and spiritual causes that must be dealt with according to God's physical, psychological or spiritual laws to be put right.

However, what I do know is that Jesus Christ has all authority in heaven and earth, and He is the full brightness of God's glory and express image of God's character. and through His incarnation, life, death, resurrection and ascension, Jesus accurately shows us God's will regarding sickness and God's preferred way of dealing with sickness. From the New testament record of Jesus it is clear that God wants everyone to be healed. However it is also clear that even God cannot just heal everybody without breaking His own laws that He built into the universe. So, there is a need for us to either accidentally fulfil the laws that can keep us well or bring us healing when we are sick, or else to seek out those laws and apply them deliberately to remain well or recover from some affliction.

IMO it appears the early patriarchs did not suffer from disease but their bodies apparently wore out as all creation suffered degradation from sin. The most abrupt change came after the flood.

Does all disease come from the devil?
Someone is Blind because the Bible needs to describes that people read the Bible but don't understand it,People can see, but they are actually like blind people.

So Jesus made the blind one could see, And said it was to glorify God.
There are two meanings here, that is, God can make the blind one could see and make one understands the words of the Bible.

Almost every disease describes various problems in the current world.
People who gets disease are all for the glory of God.

I would always go to the doctor's. I see no conflict between using modern medicine and being a Christian. I just pray too.

It is intriguing reading how close the connection is between Christ's ministry and the physical healings he carried out. He healed ALL who came to him. The sick flocked to Him, their need was real. There was no modern medicine for them. How brilliant is that? I know He still heals because I pray all the time and I get better even from trivial ills. We have only to ask in humble prayer.

Even now, with all the brilliant medical advantages open to us, there are diseases that cannot be cured. For those we need prayer to obtain strength, comfort and healing of our souls, in order to prepare for the transition from this life to the next. No doctor can provide that, only Christ our Lord.

The crucial point I am reflecting upon is that it is the soul Jesus really heals and through that, the body and mind find relief.

Generally I agree with your post. One thing you might have clarified is that with the fall, the function of many microbial (and larger) entities was likely corrupted. I don't think God intended us to be plagued with mosquitos, fleas, and bedbugs.

Very likely the invention of such is encouraged by demonic spirits. I can believe that. After all, no believing Christian would wish to be involved in the creation of weapons to cause such dreadful suffering.

I partly agree. I see the twin meaning of blindness, physical and spiritual. However, Jesus cured the physically blind as the Bible said.

The part I disagree with is that any disease could be sent for the glory of God, if you mean that. I think all disease is what we suffer due to the original fall of man into sin. But Christ came and showed us He can conquer it. So He will cure us if we pray and if it is His will. But disease doesn't glorify, it oppresses. Our response to it can glorify God of course and there perhaps I can understand your view.

God said man shall live 120 years.

It feels to me when he said this at the time there was no reason probably why every person could not live to that age

I do know someone who is 115. And walks to the fish and chip shop every day for fish and chips, as if he is a person just reached 60, he quite nifty stands up straight and is a believer.

I love him he's always got some
kind words to say always smiles I will truly miss him when he's gone.

He's one of few, and it reminds that God can keep some people alive until a ripe old age.

It makes me feel that would be case for every one if so much had not changed since God said man shall live for 120 years,

It always stop me from losing hope

the time of how long one lives is irrelevant. Sin is the reason for a physical death. That was not the plan of God for man. God made man to live forever. Death was not part of man until he sinned. the 120 years man shall live was said after man fell, not before.
