If someone in person were to compliment me on anything, I'll be feel embarrassed and say an awkward "thank you". Anyone else feel the same or am I just weird . I have trust issues when trying to figure out if people are being sincere or not

I might get a little embarrassed when I get a compliment but I enjoy them, maybe too much so.

I used to very much but that was because they were praising me and so I began to point to God whenever they did and now when ppl compliment me I don't feel that anymore because all the credit goes to God

Yeah, I generally do. I think, with me at least, it's an insecurity issue.

You're not weird I'm like that too. If someone likes what I'm wearing I don't get embarrassed but when I've heard you're pretty or something like that I get kind of shy or feel awkward. Not that I don't appreciate it, I just feel weird, lol.

Do you feel that way regardless of who the compliment comes from or only with those who seem important to you? For example, a boss, or someone you would not want to be rejected by.

A boss or a professor I wouldn't feel uncomfortable because they wouldn't give out compliments for the sake of giving them out. But mostly friends, family or just some stranger you met

When someone compliments you... never ASK if they're being sincere.

Just say thank you, and move on before they change their mind!

;)

When I was younger and not sure of myself yes I too felt awkward with compliments. But as I have gotten older I slowly learned how to say thank you with a little more grace and if the compliment is really due to God I try to pass the glory on to Him... Such as.....

You sing so pretty.... Thank you I thank God for the gift.

I feel uncomfortable when old ladies give me inappropriate compliments while I'm delivering mail at the old folks home. :o

Not really. I usually turn it into some kind of joke or just say "back at ya" lol

I'm probably more uncomfortable giving compliments, which is probably why I rarely do.

mom you are so sweet and humble for my birthday I want to hear you sing:D

Me too honestly. I always feel bad because I am so grateful for the compliment but like if I don't think I deserve it I tend to be super awkward about it too

My main issue is people say amazing things about me but I don't believe a word of it mainly because of my self esteem issues I guess. I have told I am good person but I have never considered myself one a lot of times I see myself as the worst of sinners still working on that lol
