Most people just go to church for the singing, only to find out there are already people there on the stage singing, and they don't need you to sing along with them, cos they already have like all the amplifiers and stuff. They just want you to watch and wave your hands around.

If your single, just sing...
I am.. Dreeeaming of a wife, someone to speend the rest of my life with,
a woman with morals and high standard of ethics....

I am Dreeeaming of a wife, with every day I spend alone,
Some one kind and caring, and likes to snuggle on long cold nights

I am dreeeaming of a wife, That does not drink smoke or do drugs,
a woman of godly virtue and fit for a ministers life.

Uh... Nope.

I'm one of the ones singing on stage. They even let me have a microphone. We definitely need the people in the audience engaging in the service, not just standing there watching the show. This is a church service, not a concert.

If the whole crowd just stood there waving their hands, we would consider our efforts failed.

Some of the ones I been to were like concerts.
Can't even hear yourself sing, and there are like sound technicians at the back, and video screens and lights and and things, so it sort of feels like one. Also some of the music is repetitive, at one, it seemed to me like trance music. Very weird.

well when I first started going to church, I was with a church that condemned rock and roll as worldly music, funny enough the pastor does like the beach boys.

Yes the trance type music are typical or like the pop type music,

I thought when I went to church they would have hymns or gospel music, but no, everything was hillsong. My first CCM music experience was at this outdoor festival, called Parachute (not sure why, no parachutes there) and it was like alternative music but with Christian lyrics. I pretended to like it but I was kinda weirded out.
I came home and thought I had been brainwashed or something. I did not have a good time because some of the people there had never seen or met a Chinese/Asian descent person before and they were kind of racist to me, I just felt 'othered'

I'm in a perplexity, I made a prayer to be in music in my next life just in case it doesn't go according to plan in this one. I think 4 eternal concerns and/or 4 doubt, mabye love.

I'm learning to play my guitar, but its' still really hard for me, even remembering chords.
I find it easier to sing, or strum along and play by ear, but it probably sounds out of tune to others. I do tune my guitar, but I could never play solo its hard even doing a song straight through. But weird thing is I just love the feel of it, or the vibes you get from really good music.
I play acoustic, and I love folk and bands like The Seekers, Mamas and the Papas, Carpenters...like oldies
But I grew up in the 80s and the 90s were my teen years...so Alanis Morisette, Cranberries...in terms of rock/pop

Anyway could go on but peeps here probably grew up with christian CCM worship music which a lot of doesn't I doesn't really register with me. I have heard Shout to the Lord and Power of Your Love in so many times in loads of churches, its kind of like listening to power ballads like 'My heart will go on" I can only take so much lol

Oh ok, yeah unfortunately most modern churches lower their standards to fill the seats.
I can understand that. yes some people don't know how to handle culture shock, if your not used to being around people of other cultures or ethnicity someone different can stand out.
I am sorry you had to go through that.

Songs singing about worship just seem so meta to me.
Well that is it, most people don't realize that singing/music is a form of worship, it's been downplayed to a form of entertainment, and it can be but church is for worship and your home is for entertainment.

Not my cup of tea to watch and wave my hands around.
