I thought when I went to church they would have hymns or gospel music, but no, everything was hillsong. My first CCM music experience was at this outdoor festival, called Parachute (not sure why, no parachutes there) and it was like alternative music but with Christian lyrics. I pretended to like it but I was kinda weirded out.
I came home and thought I had been brainwashed or something. I did not have a good time because some of the people there had never seen or met a Chinese/Asian descent person before and they were kind of racist to me, I just felt 'othered'
Sounds like you went to a church that was too big. Once they get over a certain size, it's hard to keep the service from becoming a performance.

That's one of the upsides of living in a small town. Our church is probably not in much danger of getting too big.

I live in the biggest city.
Over a million people, so yea.

I'm learning to play my guitar, but its' still really hard for me, even remembering chords.
I find it easier to sing, or strum along and play by ear, but it probably sounds out of tune to others. I do tune my guitar, but I could never play solo its hard even doing a song straight through. But weird thing is I just love the feel of it, or the vibes you get from really good music.
I play acoustic, and I love folk and bands like The Seekers, Mamas and the Papas, Carpenters...like oldies
But I grew up in the 80s and the 90s were my teen years...so Alanis Morisette, Cranberries...in terms of rock/pop

Anyway could go on but peeps here probably grew up with christian CCM worship music which a lot of doesn't I doesn't really register with me. I have heard Shout to the Lord and Power of Your Love in so many times in loads of churches, its kind of like listening to power ballads like 'My heart will go on" I can only take so much lol
I found the Lord when I was 27, I was making music sense I was 17, so I know genres inside and out the church with a mix in between. Not easy all the time but I can only hope we reason.

Well that is it, most people don't realize that singing/music is a form of worship, it's been downplayed to a form of entertainment, and it can be but church is for worship and your home is for entertainment.
It makes me unhappy the way the rules can be in this lifetime, I wish whoever ruled all of music with their money would stand down and make it right.

I agree with you however bible says Satan is the god of this world and the father of lies, I would suggest that satan is the mastermind behind all that is wrong with the world today and only giving wealth and power to those who will willingly destroy the good name of God almighty.

I'm in the church parking lot right now and I dont even wanna go in, sad. I feel I have to come here for what I learned around them, but im mad for it not being what I expected in the end. Even the words tells me its because of my own hand yet my rebuke is open. Tell me in heaven is their really the love without end or question?

I mean I knew the church prevails but I didn't think she would use me then spit me out.

If you don't want to go in, why are you there? God does not infringe on free will, you have the choice to going to a church you agree with and support. Yes it was Christ on Calvary, thats why your sins are forgiven in full.

Where are we supposed to go?
We are supposed to be here, on CC Singles Forum.

One of my churches that I belong to as a ministry for singles. I am 36 years old and I have been through a divorce. I have had my fair share of heartbreaks, but life goes on. Got to take the heartache and learn from it. In the New Testament it says in 1 Chronicles chapter 7 -Don't be tempted by sexual immorality for every man is to have to woman to wife and every woman is to have a man to husband.

I don't know, maybe the church is a place to fellowship/worship/pray, not a meat market. lol I guess, if your not satisfied with the church, start your own fellowship. You could have a home Bible study, or put up an add on Craigslist, and make a Christian meet up at the park. It's not hard to meet single people, just go where single people go.

I recently went to a alcohol free bar. It was really strange, but I sort of liked it. There was tons of single people there, it had a club like atmosphere. Definitely felt like a meat market. You could easily meet people there. No question. Also, there are "mixer" events, where they have men and woman doing events. Some lady was nice enough to show me here back side. lol Oh brother.

I just have interests and hobbies, wasn't trying to meet someone. Just giving people ideas.

Anyways, I think you just have to get off your seat, and get outside. Bottom line, find other people that have the same interest as you, and find places that people meet up. If you just can't think of anything, maybe take a fun college course at the junior college, like art appreciation, or maybe even a Bible class.

I wish everyone luck! Just please don't come back, after your married, and complain about how bad your marriage is.

I'd like to find a spouse at Church, but at the same time I feel like it may be stepping over a line, so yeah. I don't have anything to add lol, just adding my opinion.

Yeah and Timothy Clearly said that a bishop is the husband of one wife. It is a requirement for pastors to be married. In fact God instituted marriage in genesis, I don't think its a physical lust thing, but a spiritual thing. Right because sex outside of marriage is fornication and sex with someone other than your spouse is adultery. Family is a God sanctioned ministry.

mm I don't know
I think it wasn't only that, it was a requirement to have children.
I recall that Mary was not married when she had Jesus. She was betrothed, but actually not married (yet)

Pastors were supposed to have a family and their children were meant to be brought up correctly, they were supposed to be able to rule their household well, so they could look after others in the church. To me, it would seem they were meant to be elders, or at least elderly and possibly have grandchildren.

It was nothing to do with sex as such. It was more about being a parent. The one wife thing was because polygamy was not working out. It caused families to be disrupted and fragmented.

Your children are meant to be legitimate, that is why marriage...
You can still have children and be unmarried. But parentage may be in question.
Also it is to do with inheritance. Unmarried, and your children are not protected, and may not inherit anything, your name, property, etc. Your partner will not be entitled to anything, should you die.

I am aware of that, God did give the command in Genesis to be fruitful and multiply. I know The miraculous conception was in line with the fulfilling of the messiah I think that was the exception to the rule.

I think that between Genesis and Timothy, that having a family is a Godly virtue, a God sanctioned institution like marriage or education. I was actually surprised when i did a study on friendship and found out that in itself is a ministry.

Well I get that, I think the point of Genesis is that if your spiritual needs are being met you don't need physical intimacy. But the physical intimacy is in parallels the icing on the cake.
